  1. Jeep is not enough volume for the corporation. Segio said Alfa would be supply 400,000 north American sales by 2018. Well he his going to come a lot short. They sold 52 cars in Dec. EPA FE may get a delay but it will still be on the automakers for the global markets as they will not change what they have. Also in 4 years they know things can revert. So do not expect major changes. Here are some real world issues they face Here is the problems first No One Wants to Merge. They need a dance partner and no one wants to play. This drives up their development cost and why they want to base everything on the Alfa. Second FCA is Lagging Behind Competitors In Everything From Quality to MPG. In nearly every aspect they have fallen behind in technology and advanced building methods that help make better cars and lower cost. Most of FCA’s Models are Outsold by the Competition Except for Jeep and Ram there are no solid volume products they offer. Jeep and Ram is not enough to meet the volumes they need to meet future needs to leverage development cost. How do I know this because Sergio said that he needed 400,000 Alfa units on top of what they have now to meet the needs by 2018. Well I do not see them coming close to that at Alfa. 150,000 of these Alfa sales were in North America. Margins are Still Down. The ATP Is very low on their vehicles vs. most other brands. Platforms are Old Going to Fiat and Alfa Sourced Platforms to save money but it will compromise things if they base it all on one platform. Manufacturing Costs Are Too High Fiat is way over capacity and they are very inefficient in building cars. This hold back profits per vehicle and adds to their development cost. Fleet MPG Sucks and if gas goes up they will risk going stagnate in sales. FCA Needs to Boost Global Operations Outside They are struggling in Europe and really lack much in China where most companies have found to drive their prod its and investment leverage. FCA lacks this and leaves a ton on the table in income and volume. No Progress with Autonomous Driving. While I like to think this is not really bad thing they are so far behind the others. They can buy a system but it takes money. More Debt Than Cash This is the big one. They are still paying off things from the past and they still have much they need to invest in but they hold a major Debt while most companies hold a Cash position vs. debt. FCA has had many quality issues and a return buyer percentage of 25% second lowest in the industry. Sergio has had two plans one in 2013 and 2015 for the second. He is now on a third plan and none have been realistic. The most recent is closer to what he should have done in 2013 but he should let Chrysler do the work not Alfa. The delusions of taking BMW owners is not real. Alfa selling 400,000 globally is just nuts. Anyone know how many cars Alfa sold in America in October? 23. Yes only 23 cars in America. so when you read last December they doubled sales in America yes they did 52 cars were sold. If they could have sold 7 more they could have beat the Viper. This was December of 2016 This is the division Sergio said would be selling 150.000 units in America by next year. Is this the kind of numbers you would be planning the future of your company on. Even adding the CUV model is not going to meet these numbers. There is a select group of people the Alfa attracts mostly people wanting something different than a BMW and that is a small group. It is not a cheap line and the reliability has yet to be proven. What I cover here is just a gloss over of the real issues. These are very deep issues and not ones easily overcome. Dig into their cost, debts and need for development cost reductions and it is not a promising picture. At some point Sergio will run out of time as jeep can only bail him out for so long as his needs for cash become even greater. The bottom line is FCA has many cash and debt issues. They have many development things they need to do with no help like Ford and GM working together on transmissions. They have tons of fleet sales and heavy discounted vehicles. They are over capacity and are having trouble filling these plants as the wrong products are being enhanced.
  2. There are many factors in play. There are fix issues like how the market has changed. Large cars, coupes are dying. Small cars Mis size trucks and CUV models are growing. Large suv and truck are subject to gas prices. All models are getting price sensitive. Customers today are half women an half men. They are not seeing income growth due to a long stagnate economy. People keep their cars much longer. They are looking for less expensive, roomy, with good utility vehicles with good mpg and quality. This is the formula of the CUV. Even if it is not a truck you make it tall and feel like a SUV and people of both sexes are attracted to it thou it really is a tall mini van. Performance still has a place but it is limited. Boomers are getting older and leaving the muscle cars behind. The younger people have little connection to them and can not afford their BMW, SUV and SS play car. They settle for a M series sedan on a lease band move on. the younger kids can not afford the RS at $42k and even if they can insurance is beyond their car payment, rent and social life. They now no longer need a cool car to socialize as they have a galaxy or I7 phone. The no longer cruise the mall or burger joint. They shop, meet friends band get to second base on the smart phone. We all can not think of things as we used to think. While things are not completely gone the order of importance is not what it once was. Toyota, Honda and VW have ridden to the top on small, quality, high mpg cars that are not always cheap. Those looking for cheap go to Hyundai and feel like they are saving till they have service issues like timing belts and water pump failures in a car with leaky shocks. GM has done well with the boring CUV models that were not perfect and out dated. I have not seen the new models yet but expect them to be some the best sellers in the GM line up. The nox and Terrain has racked up well more than 350k units per year. I expect this to continue and improve.
  3. Nice ride but not what FCA needs. Sergio needs volume soon and while these performance rides are cool they still lack the volume the company needs. FCA is in great need of volume, cost savings and smaller profitable vehicles for when gas goes up. GM just for the first time sold 10 million vehicles in one year and they could still use more volume to lower cost and increase profitability. Development cost are just so high auto makers need to get all the details right. One needs to remember GM went broke while it was making the Tahoe SS. Sorry for being a downer but Sergio needs to go. But like they say smoke em while you got em.
  4. This will be a Buick. This is a model prime for the global group of Opel, Holden, Vauxhall and Buick. i want to note wagons for the most part have not always been big volume cars out side Chevy and Ford. just read today the 1976 Grand Safari sold only just over 9000 units. While i know some CUV model cut in but in truth few if any wagons moved in CUV like volumes. It is more development cost that hinder thes lower volume models. But that is where the global quad at GM can deliver these special cars by selling in multiple markets. I expect to see some OPC models as a GS and others. Even a Opel based sports car could be considered at some point. This wagon I not for everyone but the price a global sharing will make possible what was not when Buick was just making cars for the Midwest.
  5. Right now it is not the number of dealers but often the locations. While GM, Ford, Honda and Toyota have spent a lot of time updating dealers and helping many relocate to near interstates many of the Jeep and Chrysler dealers have not updated. Also they like the other American MFG's often have too many dealers. Many dealers are also not happy with the income or the lack of income from Fiat dealers they were encouraged to take in. Lets see the hands here and how many people are ready to go out and by an Alfa after all the money that was spent last nigh on the Super Bowl. While I find the new Alfa an interesting car and though I have yet to drive one it appears to be a very fun car to drive. But for that money there are many cheaper and more safe choices over the questionable quality of the brand. Alfa like any other brand that has been damaged needs to re earn the trust of the public and a high priced car like this is not the way to do it. Also the many recalls the corporation does not instill trust. Now I see Sergio wants to sell stock on the F1 team at Ferrari. If he is not gone soon he will bring this all down. I am just shocked he did not say he was going to merge with GM again so they can have more dealers? It is not too late to save Dodge and Chrysler but it needs to be done now and be done on their own platforms not Fiat and Alfa.
  6. Nox are good buys right now as are Terrains. Skip the 4 as it as you stated heavy Rust on some but not all ours is a 2012 and no rust. The sliding rear seat sounds like a good idea but once you set it you never move it. The Jeep right now I woul be wary of the FCA recalls and electrical issues. The key FoBs just went out on the in laws new 300 this is now the 4th electrical issue and also they have had two recalls. The Ford it is ok if you like it but I just was never a fan. I can't say anything bad. The new Nox is yet to be determined. The 4 should be right at home and I expect the price to be just a little lower on many versions like how the cut the Acadia price when it down sized. if I were looking Trax small I would just spend a little more for the Buick. The Chevy is a good deal on the entry model but loaded up the Buick is better.
  7. Black Star Riders Killer Instinct. Also their new Heavy Fire. if you like Thin Lizzie with an edge give them a try
  8. Dude I am done since you can not let go of being so called disrespected. That was not my intent as if I was going to call you stupid I would have no issue using the word stupid. It gets difficult to debate if one of two parties take too personal. I have said and made my case. Sorry if you took my comment not in the context that I intended. Done.
  9. If you think that was fun I think the Portage Lakes are having a Polar Bear Plunge Sunday. The ice is not that thick. Lol!
  10. I just do not agree and that is all. I can back up what I state on the reason that is based on the Dollar. You don't agree and that is fine. As for why the other counties are not included I covered the before. Chechnya is not a problem because even with our issues with Russia we and they share intell on the actors in the country we may have issues with Russia but both our countries have the same enemy so here again we share intel. They warned us on the Boston bombers but a miss spelling on their name left them missed when they came in. Home Land Security messed up. Pakasistan also shares info and we have channel to sort out who is who. We can not do this in places like Syria that is caos right now as is the western part of Iraq. Same applies to Yemen and the others have no open channels for intel hence the 90 days till we open things up to all but Syria. If you were to believe the new they want to hold this as a ban on Islam counties but the truth it is only a delay on those we have little trade of info with. Relations with counties like Russia and others can be cold but that does not mean we have no cooperation in other areas. Like here we may not agree here but we will agree or converse on another thread. That is just how diplomacy works with most contries. Now with the far out like Iran an ISSI they have little deplomecy as they are lead by blind radical religious beliefs that prevent this. Look we are both rehashing this but I respectfully disagree with you and hope you would do the same in kind.
  11. No insult as you have your opinion I have mine. If I were to insult you I would just say it you should know me by now. I don't play games when it comes to that. I just found the link and it explained my point I was making. You do realize others are reading and so many really don't know the fiscal connection. I thought adding the details just might be of interest. The link I gave explained how our money system works and was an unbiased link. That is just how it operates and why we do as we do. Not my opinion not something I agree fully with just the way it is. Trust me if I choose to insult it would no be slight. I never said SA are our best buddies but they are the people that control our dollar and we have to work with them like it or not. Also we do share common enemies. We have terrorist from here too. The home grown have been th e most active as they are the hardest to find. To be honest as the way people have moved a terror suspect can come from anywhere but the most difficult to I'd are from countries with little to no intel.
  12. They will never go back to this because Grandma wanted her couch back. Then when she died we burned it so it would not hurt anyone else. I remember these in the day and how you had to hold yourself in place with a knee braced on the door and a death grip on the wheel.
  13. If anyone is interested in why Saudi is important to us here is a good story explaining why. https://smaulgld.com/why-saudi-arabia-matters-in-helping-to-keep-the-u-s-dollar-as-the-worlds-reserve-currency/ So few people know or understand this. I don't believe even most schools teach this.
  14. If only it really worked that way. Have a good weekend.
  15. Actually we have a good line of info from this region. While we have had a strained relation with Russia they have been trading info with us on Islamic terror. In fact the Russians warned us of the two Boston Bombers and they were missed due to a mis-spelling in the data base. While we may not agree and we may not hold the same values the common issues are often traded between governments and countries. Another example of The enemy of my enemy is my friend. Sorry if you can not accept it but the world is not so black and while. While the Iranian Religious leaders would love to kill all of us most of the people of Iran love us and wish they could go back to what they used to have in western ways. The lines no longer stop at boarders or governments. This is more of a case where if an animal be it a lion or Gazelle is isolated from the water hole it will die as it can not isolate itself as it has a need to use the water. He who controls oil prices controls the world. If the Saudis turn off the oil flow they will raise the price of oil in all markets no matter where it comes from. Just as we see now a conflict in the middle east raised the price of oil over the entire country and world. Even though only a few states in the east actually use middle east oil. This is not a scare, you just need to do your home work on how the world really works.
  16. You just do not understand the dynamic here. As for cutting them all off will not work. No matter if we need the oil or not we are still connected to market values that are controlled by supply and demand. When we gave up the gold standard on our currency we changed it to one based on the oil market. The countries in the region there turn up or down production it changes the value of the dollar and other currency's. Because of this is why we, Russia and many others have spent so much money just trying to keep the place stable over there. We are not doing it because we love the weather. Saudi's choked off money to Russia by increasing production. They can kill our economy if they shut the oil off as even the oil we have here is subjected to global market prices. Just because we make it does not make it cheaper. Oil is a globally traded commodity. The days of Isolationism are long over. It did not work even at the start of the last century and those who tried it paid a heavy price for it. With todays technology has really changed the game. The economies were locked together to prevent a Nuclear war. One country goes down everyone goes economically. The new Dynamic is the terror groups that have no skin in the game are willing to take out anyone and they have nothing to lose. Because the average person has no clue of the dynamics of the middle east they have no idea really how bad things are and that they are not safe from it no matter where they are. The only way to change it is to oil free but that will not happen anytime soon. Most governments are not out to save the environment getting away from oil they are just wanting to change the dynamic we are in fiscally with oil and our money. As for the Saudi government The enemy of my enemy is my friend.
  17. Never said they are an ally but they are more of someone we can or have to work with. They need us and we need them like them, like it or not. They hold heavy power over global economics and those who want to topple them for it know they can damage us without hurting themselves economically. We need to keep the region stable to keep them stable and they need us to protect them. Taking them out is the end around the Mutually-Assured Economic Destruction that has prevented the cold war from starting. We go down they all go down. Unless they take over the global currency that is oil and control it. While we are not so much Allies we do have mutual interest. They are also no ally of Israel but they have Israel as have the Israeli have used the Saudi. No many Arab countries would let a Jewish state fly over to bomb Iran. You are not dealing with stable countries with democratic beliefs. This is old world stuff in an age of powerful money and weapons. You can say keep it simple but it is not that simple. We are just going to have to agree to disagree. I believe this used to be a local car here in Akron till the Canadian bought it. It was a very nice car and he only made it better. We still have many rare Pontiac's here due to Knafel Pontiac being the main dealer and their race connections to Pontiac. I have several friends who worked there years ago and even introduced me to Bill before he passed. They just tore what remained of the dealer down to put an interchange over it I used to work nearby and would do work for Pace Pontiac when they were there. Sad!
  18. Here in Ohio I am shocked at the number who are dying of overdoses. More die on Heroin than I ever though would be using it. I used to work in the bad part of town and we saw drugs all the time but seldom did anyone die. Today we have young mothers to grandfathers dying. The culture has made it ok to get Messed up and people just keep looking for more of a way to kill the pain. They want to call it an illness but it is a choice and if you get it wrong it will kill you. An illness is a cold and you have no choice. Alcoholics have run in my family. My dad broke the run as he stopped drinking when I was born. He was not a drunk but he said if I learned it and made that choice it was not going to be because of him. His father was a beat the kids, cheat on the wife and drink up the pay check guy. He got clean and really changed by the time I was born but my dad decided to stop it there and that is where it is today. I learned not to make those choices and out of respect of what he did for me I also do for my son. Life is a lot bigger than getting Fd up. I see the episodes of Cops and the parents of some of these poor kids. It is really sad. We had some parents here not long ago die in the car with a kid in the back seat. You have to wonder how their life will either get better or worse.
  19. Here is what I see. #1 The car looks too much like most other cars on the market. The last gen at least stood out. #2 I would not lower the price but I would do a better job on packages and bring more added value to the models going head to head with Kia and Hyundai. Price per month is the major point to this class and if you can offer a better optioned car for the same price the better you will do. Lest face it the better car in this class does nto always lead sales. #3 Market this car better. I see so little on it and I suspect with it blending in with the other imports many miss out what it is. They recently marketed the hatch but not so much the sedan. Finally. lets face it this is not the most styling car GM has. Not bad but they have and could do better. Even the Volt with the slight changes looks better. Even the Hatch was an improvement. The last Cruze was really a well balanced and well done car and the going will be tougher for this car now that it has fallen in line with the others. I know someone will come in here saying oh we need a SS and the Diesel but even then that is going to account for less than 15K cars at best. They need to address the core mid pack model in price, options and styling. I suspect there will be changes but not for 2 years.
  20. It his really just a bunch of crap. With bathrooms people really just need to go learn to with the flow. Any movement should be flushed away with common sense and any mess should just be wiped clean. Take a deep whiff and rest assured this too will just pass.
  21. Life has its limitations and at times you just have to use the best option available. I have pissed along side the road before when I felt the great need. There has been a major part of society that has tried to tell us and make us all believe we have to be all inclusive. While we should do some things that would help there is no need to be inclusive to every single whim there is out there. As a society when there is a small number of people who want something that makes it more difficult for the majority or even more expensive some adaption is needed. You can't always get what you want but if you try you get what you need. Hell how many concerts have I been to the women sneak into the men's room. They have learned to adapt to a situation and I never see a complaint. If needed I would return do the same. This fight was more about other political things than where you piss.
  22. Automakers are building for a global market. While we can pause the CAFE here companies will still have to continue to improve it. They need to just slow the time line down and make it fit the global plan more so we can help these automakers not have to make special cars for some countries. This is all they are asking for with the US movement. Really if you take Germany. USA and Japan and get them all to agree it will fix about 90% of the problems.
  23. To fix the bathrooms it is simple put penis on one door an a vagina on the other. You go to the one the fits the equipment and stop making a fuss over it. To be honest most people never had an issue. The ones who did often attracted attention to them selves. A gay friend gets so pissed off at some of the others as they create more issues for them selves. I told him straight people do it too. People are self distructive do to poor life choices and not accepting responsibility for it.
