How long until internal combustion engines are no longer the norm?
My only issue with nuclear is that someday people might want to fly planes into nuclear plants instead of skyscrapers...

How long until internal combustion engines are no longer the norm?
1. I don't know, you don't know and sciensts don't know it either. It could be that we're entering an era of more chaotic changes in climate, irrespective of the cause. We shouldn't go back to living in caves (excpet that $300K on Satty's thread) but some degree of caution and study on this issue is not a bad thing... 2. Nuclear? OK, as long as (using a US example) the utilities don't enjoy the same image as, say, Amtrak.... hydroelectric is a good alternative, but there's the issue of infrastructure to transport it from the production locations to consumption locations... I still think there are issues to be sorted out.

GM Rollsout Centennial Corvette Concept at Chicago
It looks overdone, like the designers took those heritage cues and exaggerated them. The wheel arches/bulges, for example. But the idea of bringing back some 1963-1967 period styling cues is a really interesting one! I hope GM is serious with regard to a NG Corvette (even if GM's troubles mean it takes a little longer to get here) and I hope this is one of the styling paths they look into, regardless of the final result...

How long until internal combustion engines are no longer the norm?
Over 12 years. Issues of where the energy would come to are nowhere near resolved. If global warming is proved to be true, it wouldn't be a good idea to burn tons of coal to power millions of electric cars...

GM Fights to Keep Opel Division as Politicians Pursue Spinoff
Opel = VW = everyman's brands. When VW wanted to compete with Mercedes (while Audi was supposed to be BMW's competitor) by releasing the Phaeton, massive laughing ensued... Opel build very good cars, but they have absolutely no 'premium' aura.

GM Recovery Plan
I saw too many models for that brand. But it's just IMHO... My ideal brand structure would be Chevy-Buick-Cadillac in NA; Chevy-Opel-Cadillac in Europe (even though we don't give a #$%& about Cadillac over here, meaning GM doesn't have a premium/luxury brand outside of NA). The rest of the world would be Chevrolet and whataver brand would command more respect locally, depending on the market being able to absorb brands above Chevrolet. And I'd keep a 20% stake in Saab with it being more or less GM's Subaru. However, the way things are going with the economy, I think no one knows which OEMs will be alive 5 years from now, let alone individual brands...

Yep, better pray that it works. If it doesn't we're all going down the toilet for a decade or more (think of the Japanese situation). I'll try to attach the Saab stuff anyway. Let's see if it works. Saab_Bankruptcy_Feb20th2009___001.pdf Saab_Bankruptcy_Feb20th2009___002.pdf
