  1. Ummm, right. Problem is that there is probably someone dumb enough to believe its a Ferrari.
  2. RIP Rosa, She showed that civil disobedience can be civil and effective.
  3. Stay away from 'recreational' drugs. They may seem like an answer now but all they will be is a problem you will find harder to deal with than your current situation. My best advice is find someone who you can trust to sit down and talk with. Problems kept to yourself are often maginfied, once shared they can be put in their place and you can move on with your life. Counsellers are there to listen to you and help you deal with things. I know things seem bad right now but, believe me, you can work through everything. Good luck and take care.
  4. I am looking forward to NAIAS this coming year. I've got my fingers crossed about the new Camaro. Ahhh, another reason for me to look forward to January, as if getting out of the desert for a while wasn't enough.
  5. I am definately guilty of this. Not of buying new cars but cars that are new to me. Of course, between my wife and I we have 7 cars and trucks right now. 67 C-10 72 Skylark Convertible 87 IROC 95 Z/28 96 Metro 99 Z/28 99 Silverado K1500 I was in an accident and had a pretty messed up back for a while and went through a bunch of daily driver cars for a while. Seats were uncomfortable. The wrecked car was an 87 IROC (not the one listed-that's the wife's). I got a 95 Saturn SC2, then a 91 MR2, 90 Corvette, then finally traded the Vette in for the 99 Z/28.
  6. I would prefer to have the dipstick to check things out myself. Of course, being an aircraft mechanic, I am used to sensors not exactly reading correctly after a while. As to the owners manual, that thing is starting to read like our general reference manuals. At least it isn't as long (we have 11 for the engines alone)
  7. That's a pretty good review. Its got some great imagery in there too.
  8. Maybe the concept was, 'we'll leave it the same as what we are already selling. You think anyone will notice?" :P
  9. I have State Farm for most of my cars. I've been with them since 89. For my 67 C-10 and my 95 Z/28, I have Grundy's. I like collectable car insurance. No mileage limts and both those cars cost me $254 a year to cover with no deductables. I'll probably transfer the Skylark over to Grundy after I get back from this deployment.
  10. Well, it does give them a few other names to work with later on :P
  11. Neither the unions nor the management alone are the problem. Between them they can both make such shortsighted decisions that can run a company into the ground. The UAW has gotten spme pretty excellent deals for their members over the years but the bottom line is this. If GM continues to struggle with some of these costs, the price of their vehicles will have to stay higher than the competition. I have never been a union fan. But, I do know that the best way to ensure that the workers are taken care of is for them to band together, hence unions. Without the unions, believe me, the American worker would be much worse off than they are today. Unfortunately, much of the time the union and companies form this combatative relationship and won't work together to serve both sides. A bit of taking the long view now could increase the bottom line of the company and get more for the members in the future. Just my .02
  12. I believe the situation with the St Therise plant is set to expire for the 2007 model year. That opens everything up for the new Camaro to be built whereever GM decides. We'll see what comes forth.
  13. Yeah, I'd love to see how well things would go if someone tried putting the top either up or down while going 30 MPH. Hmmm, maybe they think its a speed brake system.....
  14. I seem to keep collecting cars. With our new Skylark, my wife an I now have 7 vehicles on the place. We have 3 Camaros (87 IROC, 95 Z/28, 99 Z/28), 2 trucks (67 C-10, 99 Silverado), the Skylark, and (gasp) a Metro (used to save gas so I can play with the fun cars). I think I am officially a caraholic. Is there a program for this. I really don't want to be cured though. :P
  15. You must've forgot the Yugo.... And as bad as the Metros may be, I still get 49 MPG driving one to work.
  16. I had to vote G6, I just can't warm up to the Maxx.
  17. Sweet GTO, nice turn too. :P

    Ages?

I was born during the first model year of the Camaro and the last year that the Chevy C-10 didn't have side marker lights. :P
  21. Yep, those are all option codes. Z/28 was a performance package option code. It sounded so good they labeled the car its as a Camaro Z/28. And the rest is history. If I remember correctly Z71 is an offroad suspension package. Which makes the Z66 follow in the same line of thought.
  22. LMAO, Hey, the spelling is at least close.

    Our new toy

We found the car on EBay actually just before we went to Reno for Hot august Nights. It didn't make reserve and didn't sell. While in Nevada we talked and tried to bid on a 67 Camaro Convertible that went way about our price range. Anyway, we talked and decided to see if the Buick was still available when we got back home and it was! So, on a Sunday (after I got off working graveshift) we drove down to Portland to check it out in person and I drove it home (top down of course). It doesn't have the spoiler, we are debating finding a stock on to put on but that can wait. The first thing we really want to do is install a 2004R to get better mileage on long trips. Bowtie Overdrives has one we like. As for insurance, we have 2 of our Camaros (Tammy's 87 IROC and my 99 Z/28), the 99 Silverado, the Metro, and the Skylark with State Farm. The Buick is listed as a collector vehicle and only costs us $8 per month to insure. So our State Farm bill is about $190 per month. The 95 Z/28 and the 67 C-10 are insured through Grundy's Collector Insurance and cost us $254 per YEAR. I will probably transfer the Skylark to Grundys down the road since State Farm has a 3000 mile limit for collector cars and Grundy's doesn't have any limit.
  24. Nice looking GTP you got there. Like the surroundings too. :D

    Our new toy

OK, now for some details. The Skylark still has the original Buick 350 engine in it although it was converted from a 2V Carb to 4V. It has power windows and top, both work excellently. SO far it has a bench seat with the auto shifter on the column although we found a Buick center console and plan to convert to a floor shifter and front bucket seats. The interior is black and in good shape. If you wish you can check out more pics at My Skylark Page Thanks everyone for the good words. I have never been into Buicks but you know, this could just change my opinions.
