Next car?
Four-hundred thousand miles is quite impressive. That brings me to my next point about my Monte. According to the guy who had it before me, the odometer hasn't turned over. As of right now, it's showing 48,000 miles. He claimed that, in order to make the taxes less expensive, he had the tile show 148,000 miles. He also said the owner who bought it new off of the showroom floor eventually let it sit for eight years and I can see some evidence of that, such as pine needles in some of the panel gaps. His claim might hold water ... Either way I know my Monte won't let me down.

Next car?
Thank ya Camino. As far as what the Monte needs, it's got to have paint, a new multi-function lever, some interior trim, and a few gremlins sorted out with the gauges, dimmer switch, a/c system, and the power windows.

Next car?
Camino got it. It's a white 1984 Monte Carlo SS with a blue interior and Strato bucket seats. It's a little rough but solid as a brick and mechanically sound. Photos tomorrow after I get back home.

Hmmm ... you're on the right track.

Next car?
Well I now have another car in my possession. It only cost $2,200. Can you guess what it is? Clues: 1.) It is not a Pontiac, Buick, or Olds. 2.) I did not post a link to it's Craigslist posting here. 3.) It is the second year they offered this particular performace trim on this car. 4.) It is a rear-drive V8 coupe. 5.) The cosmetic changes made to this car were made for aerodynamic reasons.

RWD Cadillac Flagship Back On Track, Plus Two New Buicks Approved
We have an Aura XE with the 3.5L V6 and it does have mild torque steer. And even with traction control, it wants to spin out in wet conditions when you take off from a dead-stop. Superior traction what?

RWD Cadillac Flagship Back On Track, Plus Two New Buicks Approved
One of my favorite '80s cars, and a car I'm thinking about buying right now, has a front overhang that bugs the hell out of me. One day I noticed that my Firebird suffered slightly from the same disease. Study the following photo (it was worse before the MCE as well).* *This isn't my Firebird, obviously. I never took a direct profile shot of it before it was totaled.

I am back in the USA, can you guess why ???
Since this thread has taken the downward spiral into random irrelevancy, I'd like to take the time to say my favorite word. f@#k.

I am back in the USA, can you guess why ???
That's why you read the whole thread in the first place.

Driving Style: GM Design's first Century
Is this book available in bookstores? Don't laugh at me for asking that if it isn't

I'm over Chevyed!
I really want to see a visual representation of this idea.

I'm over Chevyed!
This is much more like what I suggested and what I'm thinking Camino should do. It would definitely be something different and very neat to see. It might even fool a few people. I had another idea just now: make a hardtop coupe out of a Colonnade coupe.

I'm over Chevyed!
Another idea: a Chevelle or LeMans panel delivery.

I'm over Chevyed!
I had an idea: take an F-85/Cutlass wagon or Vista Cruiser and make it into a shooting brake ...

Post Your Olds!
That's a great Toro, Ninety Eight. What became of the yellow one, though? I need to put up some new pictures of the Cutlass in its current state. I think you guys would thoroughly enjoy it.

You know what Volvos of that era remind me of? Only the Volvo was not wrong-wheel drive ...

The New GM... And Thanks for Staying Bobby Boy
And GM is mostly still too slow to react to it. I addressed your point in my previous post. I suggest you read it. Are you talking about an upgrade for a Cobalt SS? They already make it, in different stages. Like I said, the F6 Camaro needs stronger engine options or it needs to be put on a serious diet. I prefer the latter versus the former, honestly. I'm glad you did it for the right reasons, but that last sentence really, really, really bothers me. That's part of your job, what you chose to do. That's all you can do when it comes to GM: keep your fingers crossed ... and don't let it surprise you when it doesn't happen the way it should.

Intermittent Speedo and fan speed
Our Impala had the same speedometer problems before we traded it off for a G6. First thing I would do is check the speedometer cable.

MARK PHELAN
Like I said the first time, I'm going to believe it when I see it first hand.

What if
I am by no means religious, but this is the mentality I try to live by.

What if
True, you didn't. It did inspire me to rant about it, however. No argument there sir.

What if
The world isn't going to end in 2012. People buy into this particular theory far too much. I think the reason why the Mayan calender stops on that date is simply because the Mayan people vanished before they could get around to completely calculating the next baktun, or age that started on Dec. 22, 2012. We really don't know much about the Mayans and what we do know is very little. The rest is all theory, just like our posts. And, in the end, no one knows when the world is going to end. I choose not to really worry about it so much. If it ends, it ends. I'm gone, your gone, the whole human race as a whole is gone. It's not like we all are getting on the boat alone without someone to keep us company.

What if
It's all the more reason to live everyday like it's your last.

Nice '88 Cutty Supreme Classic
True, but when I bring it back home and have it licensed, I'll have to pay Kentucky tax on it. So I'll have to have the owner write out a bill of sale for far, far less than what I'll actually be paying for it (think below a grand). Then there's the process of having the title transferred, which requires notarization from someone within the state the car was purchased from. I had quite a headache with getting the title for the '72 transferred and I had to make multiple trips from KY to TN. I did get lucky in the fact that the guy who had the title to the '72 was married to someone who worked for the county clerk's office in LaFollette and could notarize the transfer. I am still seriously thinking about it though. I'd love to have a Cutlass S to go along with the Supreme and I've always admired the sportier styling of the Cutlass S. The four-speed tranny is just icing on the cake. It can be a long, costly process to restore a car. I got lucky when it came to restoring the '72. I'm still not happy with the paintjob, but it only cost $2,350 to have it painted, far less than what other people would've charged.
