  1. The 0-60 seems optimistic considering the Z06 already has a traction issue. Mark
  2. Looks nice, but I would never buy it. In my very biased opinion, Buick is a dying brand for 60+ year olds. I don't see this product changing that. Mark
  3. I like the new GM corporate switchgear, but come on GM, come up with a few different styles. Does every division and every model have to get the same radio, nav, HVAC controls? I'm getting tired of it. Only Ford is a worst offender with the overuse of the same identical gear. Mark
  4. You're kidding I hope. Many people pay attention to this. Unfortunately for GM, more people pay attention to Consumer Reports and their fundamentally flawed rating system. Mark
  5. Thanks for the information. My feedback would be to update the front page more regularly. The "Top Stories" and the "Hot Topics" are what I check the most. I don't go into the forums if I don't see new items on the front page. Could me my issue, but it's how I've browsed in the past. Thanks for the your efforts on this site. It's appreciated by GM enthusiasts like myself. Mark
  6. Cheers and Gears used to be constantly updated with new information and articles. For the last several months, it's been fairly static with old news article. There used to be a real rivalry with GMInsidenews on who would beat who to the news. What happened? I like getting GM and car industry news from several sources and have enjoyed visiting Cheers and Gears in the past. Mark
  7. First of all, stlying is subjective. That's said, IMO the new S-class is about a bland as they come. It's not completely ugly like most BMWs, but it is certainly dull. The rear end does almost ruins the entire car, but not fatally. It's got a left over front end stlying from a 1990's car, a 7 series copied rear end, and, the only interesting stlying point, the fenders, look cartoonish. What's interesting about its stlying in any way? The S-class has always lagged the rest of the Mercedes line up with its conservative/bland stlying (you could call it understated). This new one continues that tradition. Mark
  8. Don't hold your breath waiting. You can get a G6 or Aura with the combo you want now. Mark
  9. Drove an Aura XR today and it was quite nice. I won't go into a lengthy review since they are covered where so well in the review above, but I was surprised by few details. The door arm rests have simulated stitching molded into the soft plastic. I couldn't believe that GM brought this back from the 1980's. It's a small detail and hard to notice, but I could not get over it and how out of place it was in the car. The gauge cluster is really cool to watch when you start the car up. The dials do a full swing before settling down (seen that before) and then gradually, the numbers light up. It's a very, very cool effect worth checking out. Cars without leather, like the XR I drive, come with a plastic steering wheels and shifters. This seems out of place even though the plastic was nice to the touch. The trim alingment from the door to the dash on the driver side was quite off. It looked perfect on the passenger side. That was disappointing to see. Everything else quality wish was good. Mark
  10. It looks OK overall. A few observations: The rear end looks like a Avalon. The front looks good, but the hood ribs are a bit much. The interior looks OK for gray. The vents and vent controls look TERRIBLY cheap. Mark
  11. I didn't know who Michael Bay was so I checked out Rotten Tomatoes. http://www.rottentomatoes.com/p/michael_bay/ Bad movie concept. Bad director. Yup. This movie is going to suck. Mark
  12. And yet Toyota is worth more than 10 times GM. Sigh. Mark
  13. Too bad for you that the quality of the RL is not very good: http://www.caranddriver.com/longroadtests/...5-acura-rl.html Mark
  14. Actually it isn't. It's what the market thinks the company is worth. Yes. It can go up and down quickly, but bottom line the company is worth $15B today. Not much money for a company with $200B in sales. Mark
  15. Which is still much noisier and smellier than any gas engine. Mark
  16. We all know Toyota will pass up GM soon. No one is denying that. I just hope the media jackals turn on Toyota quickly. The media likes to tear down #1. Mark
  17. These are great for the 1% of truck buyers that that needs them. Too bad 10% of the truck buyers THINK they need these noisy and smelling monsters. "Gotta have all that torque for the one day a year I tow by jet skis to the lake. Yup!" In any event, good job GM. Mark
  18. This is just another example of too many brand floating around GM. Just think the impact on GM could have been if the new Aura was the new Malibu and the new Outlook was the new Trailblazer. GM would get many more sales pushing these through Chevrolet than pushing them products through Saturn. Mark
  19. No surprise really. South Korea has had strong and difficult to work with unions for years. Mark

    Next 9-5

Let's hope it's not. It's a complete impracticle car are drawn. Trying fitting into the back. Does it even have a rear window? Concept cars and especially concept car sketches mean nothing to me. Production cars are what count. Mark
  21. Every few years I hear talk about how the new diesels are not at all like the old diesels. They are supposedly quieter and don't smell. When I see them on the road, they still smell and sound like crap. No thanks. Mark
  22. Both of the original suggestions are good one. Let's hope GM listens to the "voice of the marketplace" here. Mark
  23. GM hiring more designers is great, but were they short handed in the past? Have products missed delivery dates because of the lack of designers. At the same time GM is hiring more designers who can create cool looking concept cars, they are laying off the engineers that will design the actual products. What good are cool designs if you cannot get them to the market because your engineering team is focused on the next car OR truck instead of the next car AND truck because of the lack of resources? Sounds like we will see more cool, but utterly useless concept cars from GM. Concepts cars do not generate sales. Mark
  24. The Monte Carlos is improved, but still ugly as sin. Mark
