  1. Heh, I kept telling her to punch it fully for break in but I think the most she did was a 1/4-1/2 on the highway. "I'm not even on it and wow, it moves!" Give her time. As if the car wasn't different enough, this was the first time she ever said yes to an extended GMPP warranty plan...longer term than others thus far, just as she's said I guess Dad doesn't seem thrilled, though. But he hasn't looked at it either. I hope it's uncomfortable for him so he doesn't even have to start making complaints up and thrashing it down bad roads, she can just drive more.
  2. More shots, crappy iPhone and all, from the night as a whole.
  3. Agreed. Of this vintage, it's better than the teals that were on everything or the forest green almost as played out. I like it.
  4. Home, finally. Only complaints were the windows weren't perfectly cleaned (seriously, mom...the guys had to PDI it after they'd usually be gone, I would have been happy taking it home still plastic wrapped) and that she doesn't know how to use much yet, or what the buttons do. That and the beep-beep-beep rear sonar singing to her challenged backing skills was annoying, heh. Otherwise, I like it. I like my G8 more to ride/drive I think, but the look and even the interior of this thing is killer. It's a little hobbly bobbly with 20" wheels & summer tires--gotta check the pressures--and no more Malibu silence, but a fun, fun piece. She loves it. Personal coupe. And like I said, the passenger's seat not being as adjustable as the driver's makes it not a throne, so more reason to finally never let my father drive unless absolutely necessary. The clock ticks until he can find the first thing to moan & groan about, or break. Gotta get her a mini spare/jack as would be an option and at least now with this car, she's made Christmas shopping SO easy for me--accessories, fun
  5. Yes! I think I now found another big time favorite dealer--they're great and the deal was even better. Pull into a lot with snow covered cars and for a pretty small place, a bigger selection of Camaro's and a few Challenger's than any place else I've been. It just click-click-click worked & with a car so new, off the truck this morning, it was LIKE ordering but with 0 wait;-) Plus, anyone who starts up a detailed G8 conversation with me and knows a lot about them...priceless
  6. Will do! We're in the car on the way home now & she's just having a blast, but still babying it. This worked out so oddly well...what a story, even just today! We were at a red light & a little boy in a car beside us started pointing & waving. "Who is he waving at?" "Uh...you...and the car...hah." We both smiled & waved then. Even better...she's on vacation all week. Play time...I should be getting many texts & calls..."what does..."
  7. Hah! Sitting waiting for the car, she just made me & the sales guy cringe..."Now you have the hottest mom in town, hah!"
  8. One building is Chevy-Buick, the other is Chrysler stuff. There's a mixture of Camaro's & Challenger's...she wouldn't even go within 10ft a Challenger;-)
  9. Sitting at the dealer in Oxford, PA right now...she just bought one! Silver Ice & Black 2LT, RS package, Polished wheels...literally just rolled off the truck this morning;-)
  10. Happy 21st, Cory...hope it's a great one
  11. Eureka! That's it! I never saw the print ad, but did the commercial...ah, Pontiac...the days...
  12. That's such a great tip, I just had to try it locally. Crappy stuff, but a few interesting ones!
  13. She knows what she wants in basics, and like with the Malibu (which she actually DID order, only to have her current one come available via dealer trade 2 days later), if there's one that meets her specs give or take 1 thing and sitting on a lot ready to go, that's what she'd rather do. Why wait when you don't have to, even if it is a little more effort to search, it's much quicker. Looks right and has all the right buttons, she's gold. Otherwise, she can't tell you which options are which, etc. In this case, it'd help if she could really see & touch more than just the 1 per month locally, and compare a couple back to back, I can lead the way based on what she says. Oh, I remember the day she ordered a Malibu...I got a call saying she did, then went to the dealer later to check on what she said yes too, thankfully not submitted. She gave the sales lady basics "the silver 2lt, uh, 4-cyl, the light interior, and a sunroof is what she told me" and said order it, no numbers, no nothing. I re-did the order, then it didn't matter anyway in the end. Just has to look right with the right gadgets for the right number & she's good. As long as I don't suggest a 4-cyl, ever, ever again Jeez, I swear...and now today she doesn't like the "dull, crappy" wheels on her 2LT Malibu, the ones I and many think are the best wheel design they offered. Of course, hah. But, as always...we'll see...
  14. All true. The requirements are basically it has to be a V6/auto (okay, really, she'd do a SS too...but, uh, yeah...), has to have full leather (NO cloth, period, end of story), and from there since her Suburban & Malibu, she has pretty much assumed if it's a GM and cost more than $20k "naturally" it should have steering wheel audio controls, remote start, dimming mirrors, auto lights, etc. So, basically, 2LT only. If the leather wasn't an issue, a 1LT with the C&C package could work, but in the end loading up one of those isn't that far off a 2LT with just the RS or otherwise. Colors, well, Silver Ice, Cyber Gray, or, maybe, if worse comes to worse (and really, with as much $$ as she's looking to spend and "keep it longer than any other car so far", settling isn't a good proposition), Summit White, and it has to have the Black interior--I've also been mandated NO more light colored interiors, after her current Titanium Malibu. Like the light, it looks great, good for dust, etc. but with the dogs, etc. as much as it doesn't show dust, it shows everything else. Found some Silver ones, a few actually, there was a Cyber Gray one I was dealing on but it was sold I think, another Cyber Gray one that has a sunroof instead of RS (she could go either way on sunroof, but told me no for price & otherwise), and of course several white ones, yellow ones, etc. I started to wonder if I could get her interested in a yellow Transformer edition, but heh
  15. GRRR...this car just GRRR...it sounds like a 6L beast now, from a stop, so much so through the first couple of gears--okay, everyone else carps it's too quiet, in G8 world--I still need some adjustment. Then almost silence cruising. GRRR...finally, the sound of some balls whenever I'm around a stock Hemi Charger or even Camaro SS lately...
  16. Honestly, I've thought about that a few times...RS. It's a given, if you've ever seen the full gamut of Camaros, but still worth considering either way. Mainly because a standard 2LT as she wants has really nice looking 19" 5-spokes and all season Pirelli's vs. the 20" summer Pirelli's on RS wheels. For me, not a concern. For her, I have to think about a lot of scenarios because this is SUCH a huge change in type of car for her...and things like "what do you mean? Huh?" when I tried to describe once that my G8 had "summer tires". Her only concern, as of yesterday was "I want the BIG wheels." And then I got a call "why doesn't this one have a spoiler?" when she was looking at a non-RS LT on Chevy.com build site. At least we're down to Silver with black stripes or Cyber Gray with silver stripes...maybe white...but, as of yesterday, "I just don't want a cheap plain white car...eh" after liking the white & orange one so much she drove. It's hard to please, because I have to really dig as to what she wants, she'll do the "I don't care" then 6 months later it will be "why did you tell me to get THIS one?" Tomorrow or Tuesday is shopping day...still not sure...I was more concerned today with taking my Corsa'd G8 out for a short grocery store spin & doing work for work, heh
  17. Agreed. I remember the 300M days when those "new" clear red/jewel tail lights came out for 2001 & everyone wanted them...they looked so much better than the foggy/solid red. As for the VW, still interesting...your car, your style, I'd like to see it regardless
  18. I think I remember the commercial...but hmm...on the print ad...
  19. But what about being legal? Interesting, regardless.
  20. Seriously! What crap...
  21. I've thought about these... But then I don't know...I like 'em though...and the price for such a big change is nice...
  22. I've thought I have at a few points, at least for what I want, but then I finish something like the exhaust (a biggie I didn't see happening for a while) and right at the install am looking around the car going...umm. Right now I'm just focused on the new tires because that's the biggest real issue I currently have, between the shaking, instability and degrading ride, they couldn't come soon enough. Hope they're what I'm expecting. Next up, some little things, I think. A billet cap or two (not enough to LOOK added on aftermarket, just enough to be in between) underhood on the strut caps and such, and something... I've thought of getting the stock 19" wheels chromed too, via exchange, but go back & forth on that one because I like the stock versions and the cleared machined finish so much as is. With Pontiac gone, and with this car such an "ultimate" color/options/condition combo, I can't ever get rid of it, so I just have to keep the spirit alive!
  23. Didn't think it was, hah. I expected a cool little exhaust shop, not the classic Chevy focused one I was at, with signs, posters, old plates, and, uh, those 3 cars...add in they were cheap & did perfect work, did I say I want to move to PA again? Hah! Otherwise, of notice, only saw another G8 at a gas station in PA...black V6 with what looked like 4 sales guys in it...anymore, I'm back to never, ever seeing one.
  24. Corsa Cat-Back Exhaust Corsa is on! It's SO much different from stock...in ALL the right ways. Much throatier rumble (actually has a rumble) at startup & idle, and through the 1st 3 gears or so while accelerating it roars beautifully then mellows to a stock'ish hum. There are points when cruising the speed/RPM's/etc. are just right and it's quieter than stock. Love the roar, the car feels just a smidge different or it's my imagination, and it's so much more a 6.0L sport sedan now, yet still quiet and pleasant like stock cruising. Went from seriously muffled V8 car unless pounded to a roaring beast that quiets at the right times. Other cool something? Pops & crackles at times with deceleration...I've only really gotten a chance to hear it all highway in all automatic mode, but should be fun to keep trying out. Drove quite a ways to Lebanon, PA to meet another G8'r who had it on his since early summer and now just needed the money more, so it was a good deal for both and an EASY swap for the cool little shop he has work done at up there. 2 lifts, 2 cars side by side, exhausts swapped car to car. Kinda felt bad still when my stocker was back on his and he went to leave "is it even running? Heh..." but oh well. He'll be okay...in time Next up: New Goodyear tires, and by chance, I finally got the call they were in on my drive home today. Thank god. I can't stand the shaking, pulling, noise, traction-less, etc. worn summer tires anymore. Makes the car a handful, for sure. Hope I like the tires. Then...hmm...will need a new G8 project...
  25. Had a new exhaust installed on my G8 at a very cool shop in Lebanon, PA (garsh, I'm racking up G8 miles like crazy...) called Old Gold Auto Inc. Didn't get the name until I peaked around more & figured out the logo with a Chevy emblem. These 3 classic Chevy examples sat inside, 1 currently at the first stages of re-do. LOVED them...and ORANGE!
