  1. This is AWESOME! http://boston.craigslist.org/gbs/car/683273692.html I want it, if I got it running/driving again I bet it would get like 35mpg! The best part, MPGs aside, would be using a car like this for a daily driver... I'd totally drive this to UPS, to get a gallon of milk & to go on some crazy roadtrip to track down B-59 parts. Plus, look at that HUGE "trunk"
  2. P.S. most of the REALLY good $h! is UNDER the tree cover
  3. Yup.... My understanding is (it would seem to be legit) that they do not put out any solid "marginally-restorable" cars out in the field to begin with. They ARE active on eBay and even go as far as to sell cars in groups, like recently they sold a badly rotted '55 Ford with a good windshield & a semisolid Merc of similar vintage ('54 IIRC) that needed a few things to be a restoration candidate. Someone bought both cars & some odds & ends from the yard to make one semi-decent car... prob. just a driver, fun car for the summer. ALSO: The majority of those cars in 1998 look brightly colored, they're prob. modern $h!boxes from the '80s and '90s.... Blanchards crushes those cars without a care in the world. At one point however XP & I did see not one or two but THREE Citroens go to the crusher pile... all of them being late '60s vintage! We actually laughed about it... better THREE semi-complete French cars be crushed than even ONE of those '50s Cadillac factory limousines or some rotted to death '58/'59/'60 Imperials!
  4. In some parts of NH you're not even allowed to have a junk yard anymore... not one that "stores" cars. You have to drain all the fluids, dispose of all the hazmat IMMEDIATELY and crush the car. Such is probably going to be the fate of that little Datsun I used to have until a BMW ran a red light and totalled it. I drove more miles in that little RWD, I6-powered, 5-speed, IRS equiped, "talking" Japanese $h!box than any other car Ive ever owned, including my 68 Camaro, '86 Fleetwood Brougham & just by a couple thousand miles, my S10 Blazer 4.3/5-spd.
  5. Maybe a Sky made entirely of 24 karat gold, with a windshield made of a single piece of polished diamond, saphire-encrusted engine bock & uranium tires?
  6. I can not argue with that. \Since I do not have a half million dollars to save the stuff at Blanchards that is still worth more than scrap-weight I at least try to document as many of the cars on camera. I'd love to make a rat rod out of that '61 Fleetwood though! Here's my thread on Blanchards BTW: http://www.cheersandgears.com/forums/index...ic=8601&hl= (from two years ago)
  7. The music in this one is priceless... Hillbilly "Black Betty"
  8. Ford can't do math: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q8HzUJh-MpY...feature=related 94 + 55 = 149
  9. Right in the middle of the montage there's a 1959 Chevrolet Airport Limo SEDAN. I've never seen one or heard of one. Sweet
  10. Not to take the wind out of your sails... but.... my daily driver: 7.0 liter V8 wife's car: 5.7 liter V8 my "toy" 6.0 liter V8 company car: 4.6 liter V8 Thats 23.3 liters spread amongst four cars. By "big" did you mean the Pontiac's 3.8 liter V6 or the Chevy's 3.4 liter?
  11. I'd love to park this thing inside a big manson in the library... a room full of old leather-bound books sitting on mohogany bookshelves. What a cool looking survivor. http://news.windingroad.com/auto-news/gm/l...or-165-million/
  12. Wow, that sucks. The curse is indeed never ending.
  13. Someone has too much time on their hands.
  14. Balthazar: I originally opted against letting the cat out of the bag on the REAL location of Blanchards... they're one of the coolest places around & I;d hate to have the info get out, some looser go there and by smashing a few windows & vandalizing some 1950s car, be it a rotted dust-pile or not, ruin it for all of us. We've gotten to know the owners well enough that they let us in to wander/take photos/buy emblems & such, but I've seen them on more than one occasion turn people away saying that they're NOT open when I knew they were, simply because they do not want hassles from people looking for parts for some 1995 Taurus or whatever. It's a very cool place, I hope it's always around & does not get bought out and turned into condos or a business park. I remember the very first time I went there... XP took me as the location of this place was kind of a family secret of his, they had a '79 clone of the Banana Boat. I thought at the time: too bad I can't find a non-crushed one of those, since theirs was already squished, 2-feet tall, sitting in a sandwich of 1970s & 1980s cars, next to a field full of much older, and much more rotted cars.
  15. Agreed. The W-body never quite shook its Lumina/FWD Cutlass proportions, overall styling theme & feel, even the LaCrosse.
  16. I'd rather have the Impala name die than be "reborn" as another POS FWD car that amazes no one other than a former Camry owner.
  17. That one in Arizona makes my heart sink down to my kneees. Why? Dear god why? Oh that's right, all those classics, like '63 Chevys, '55 Pontiacs, '41 Buicks, '36 Plymouths & '28 Cadillacs were crushed, melted down & reprocessed inot steel that was shipped to Japan so it could be sold bakc to us in the shape of 09 Toyotas & Hondas. :puke: :puke: :puke:
  18. Yup... plenty of more rusted POS cars would have welcomed that Nissan truck inside as the door crumbled.
  19. Thank you for this. Maybe it is just sheer luck but my theory on global warming seems to be very true. Global warming =/= truth, facts or evidence Global warming = hidden agenda, $$$$$$ politic$ & more $$$$$$
  20. Ouch! Too bad, I'm not into these "K-car Top-hat Sedans" like you are but that van was a pretty solid vehicle as far as new england beaters go. Your family might have gotten another ten years/100,000 miles out of it. Sucks. At least your mom is mostly ok, if the Pathfinder had been going another 10 or 20 mph faster the van would be the LEAST of your concerns. Knowhatimean, Vern? Hey, BTW: isn't that the 4-way I forgot in your van when we left Holland's on $50 day? I need me that $h!.
  21. I love the patina on that red trans am!!!! Just the other day i was saying how I'd love to have my '62 Buick Special back... it got 15mpg delivering Chinese food in the winter, 90% city... Well lookee here: http://boston.craigslist.org/gbs/car/681759360.html Now THAT is tempting!!!!
  22. Yeah wish your mom the best. And if the Van is totaled hook me up with that spotlight. On an unrelated note I'm still loving that 2dr hardtop zeta Poncho in your sig. Too bad GM can't grow some balls & put something that cool into prodution.
  23. if the Banana sells.... http://nh.craigslist.org/car/685391826.html http://boston.craigslist.org/nos/car/684167946.html http://nh.craigslist.org/car/658798259.html http://nh.craigslist.org/car/688276968.html http://nh.craigslist.org/car/636808487.html http://boston.craigslist.org/nos/car/679642540.html http://nh.craigslist.org/car/635025129.html http://boston.craigslist.org/sob/car/683698629.html http://nh.craigslist.org/car/675394603.html http://nh.craigslist.org/car/684764397.html http://boston.craigslist.org/nos/car/685807006.html Holy cow there's some good deals out there! Looks like I'll need to lower the price of the Banana...?
  24. Food for thought.... fuel for debate.
