  1. Wow... there's stupid petty theft, and then there's DESECRATION!
  2. Yeah, but it was reason enough for one local junkyard to crush the following 95% complete, savable/restorable cars recently: 1987 Mercedes Benz 560SEC 2dr hardtop 1968 Cadillac Sedan DeVille 4dr hardtop 1972 Chevrolet Nova 4dr (I6 with auto) 1979 Cadillac Eldorado Biaritz w/ a flawless stainless steel roof. several POS FWD turbo Mopars 1994? Twin Turbo Dodge Stealth (Mitsubishi 3000GT VR4) & about 12 last gen. GM B-bodys (including a nice LT1 C.F.B.)
  3. Like I told you on the phone the other day... that is totall and complete bull$hit. So long as you guys have the van there they get to charge you storage. Git er outta there ASAP! Cheap fix in rear ended Prizm = trunk leak Cheap fix in t-boned Chrysler = unsafe deathtrap Dude, I think it's really cool you get every last mile/$ out of your cars but seriously, there's a time when you gotta realize that enough is enough. The van was totalled. It's F***ed. Buy ANOTHER one if you guys love so much & keep this poor wreck for a parts car but it's NOT worth spending the money to fix it. O.B. is in the business & even he's told you the same. -
  4. Wow... that's awesome. I had two and only TWO types of toys as a kid. 1. Matchbox/Hot Wheels/Majorette/Ertl/Corgi/Bburago/Maisto etc. car models (I still collect them, I have over 4000 at last count, over 250 of just the 1:18th scale ones!) 2. Legos And about 2 weeks ago I went to my parent's attic and pulled out the GIANT 2' x 1.5' x 1.5' plastic Tupperware container of Legos from my childhood. Now I got Sofia hooked on Legos and we're in the middle of disassembling a giant space ship and building a castle/pirate fort.
  5. Looks more agressive but I'm not sure I like the goofy French headlights.
  6. Youda been krazy to say "B-pillars? yes please!" I'll get the pics. up tomorrow if I have a chance to upload my camera.
  7. Okay, so it's 11 - to - zero right now.
  8. Sorry guys.... It's just soooooooo stupid. It pisses me off to no end knowing an even less "safe" and less structurally soud convertible will be released shortly that will have 100% of the components in the rear 1/4 that a hardtop requires. he window regulators & beefed up B-post/rear 1/4 are all going to exist and are there waiting to e utilized. If GM made it an option, even at the cost of a few hundred or a thousand dollars, Id never bitch again because we'd all have our cake and get to eat it too. And this WAS absolutely going to be a NEW car I was goign to buy... I've been saying since 1998/9 that a 5th gen. retro Camaro is my DREAM car. A Some of you guys who have been on this forum as long as I have must remember my constant insistance that I beleived in my hert of hearts a 5th gen. Camaro is just around the corer & that it WILL be 1st gen. retro. I was told by many, on and off the internet that I was naive/stupid/foolishly optimistic. I made it my crusaide to write GM and bombard them with info. proving that a 5th gen. Camaro was just what the doc. ordered to wake up GM/Chevy. I just never realized they'd ONCE again water it down and sell out to Nader/Toyota driving masses.
  9. Not bad at all... still overpriced and mechanically unimpressive considering cost but at least Ferrari has nice coachwork again. Pininfarina was starting to lose it there for a while. StillI bet the Hyundai Tiburon will look 90% like this in 2015.
  10. There's security but they were too late. http://news.yahoo.com/s/afp/20080522/wl_uk...itagestonehenge
  11. It is what it is. No shame in that ...but even as a 21 year old kid I drove a rusted 5.0 powered Cougar XR7 with 90K miles, I remember thinking how depressing it would be to own such a spartan, boring, cheap & flimsy car. Good luck to anyone in a Metro who is in the slow lane doing 60mph on the highways around here... when a Peterbilt 379 or Kenworth W900 passes by you at 79mph you'll end up blowing off the road into a ditch.
  12. Sorry but seriously LQQK at that thing... sitting there in steel looking purdy and then you notice that ugly, thick (but flimsy rolled steel) post that is for the most part useless, except to slap hot black glued onto and glue in a cheap, tacky 1/4 window. It's a bastardization, a real let down. If you promisse to bring back a legendary icon from the 1960s & show a world class concept that shows you GET IT but then the production car is a watered down, de-evolved & cheapened immitation... well... *sigh*
  13. Sure we know how gravity works... in theory.
  14. Screw that. If I won the lottery I sure as $h! would never run out and buy a 20XX Chevy two door sedan when with lottery winnings I'd be able to afford the REAL DEAL! Why buy the cheap, flat, 4-color print poster when you can have the original oil painting with Van Goghs' 3D signature? Hardtop 69 for me please&thanks! Ever since they turned the Camaro into a 2dr sedan with a glued in rear window I do not care for it much at all.
  15. "Everything felt SOLID"? Ive driven many a metro including brand new ones... 3 & 4 cylinder ones at the Chevy Dealer (MY2000) even sold a 4dr/4cyl./5-spd to a customer who traded in a corsica and I can NOT think of one thing that felt "solid" even though they were brand new. I know the Metro got great MPGs but let's not get carried away here.
  16. Good idea, I'm sure it's been discussed but the $$$ prb. isn't there.
  17. Does it mean I'm going to hell since I laughed at the iPod part.
  18. Yes indeed Harley... But for every one of those there's a hot-pink '40 Ford, slime-green '55 Chevy & purple metallic '37 Pontiac that would look AWESOME right now in their original black/tan/earthtone paint if only their owners has not jumped on the neon-day-glow revolution in the late 1980s & early 1990s. Depressing. Too bad you can never "unrestore" paint.
  19. How cute.... that one is a two-door sedan like my "poor man's Buick" two door post.
  20. Three words: wire coat hangers They're worth their weight in gold. Every true beater should have a few in the trunk along with a set of needle nose pliers, vice-grips and such.
  21. Better not.... he'll shut down the internet. After all he INVENTED it.
  22. This is AWESOME! http://boston.craigslist.org/gbs/car/683273692.html I want it, if I got it running/driving again I bet it would get like 35mpg! The best part, MPGs aside, would be using a car like this for a daily driver... I'd totally drive this to UPS, to get a gallon of milk & to go on some crazy roadtrip to track down B-59 parts. Plus, look at that HUGE "trunk"
  23. P.S. most of the REALLY good $h! is UNDER the tree cover
  24. Yup.... My understanding is (it would seem to be legit) that they do not put out any solid "marginally-restorable" cars out in the field to begin with. They ARE active on eBay and even go as far as to sell cars in groups, like recently they sold a badly rotted '55 Ford with a good windshield & a semisolid Merc of similar vintage ('54 IIRC) that needed a few things to be a restoration candidate. Someone bought both cars & some odds & ends from the yard to make one semi-decent car... prob. just a driver, fun car for the summer. ALSO: The majority of those cars in 1998 look brightly colored, they're prob. modern $h!boxes from the '80s and '90s.... Blanchards crushes those cars without a care in the world. At one point however XP & I did see not one or two but THREE Citroens go to the crusher pile... all of them being late '60s vintage! We actually laughed about it... better THREE semi-complete French cars be crushed than even ONE of those '50s Cadillac factory limousines or some rotted to death '58/'59/'60 Imperials!
