Wow...O.B. is Robert Frost reincarnated. Yellow Dart: That is an awsome story, I can not beleive this is the first time we are hearing about your dad's/grandfather's '59 Buick. Thanks for sharing that, I love hearing that kind of stuff. Nothing I have ever owned, including the '68 Camaro has e ver gotten me so many complemnts, generated conversation or prompted people to tell me stories of their owm personal experiences with '59 Buicks or cars in general. Someday perhaps, if I'm up in your neck of tghe woods your dad can take a spin in the old battle-axe. I let XP drive the B-59 a couple times, it's fun to just be a passanger in that car. Dodgefan: I'm glad you stopped by, thanks for the complements. Am-Rev 2005: Thanks dude, there is not one dashboard on any motorized vehicle on this blue planet of our that I like more than the '59 Buicks. Balthazar: You know, I think it's just a bit more upright than my ideal but it is not uncomfortable, it's a very proper angle for the seatback, I feel very at the ready and alert when I drive it. Love those gauges & the firm, big brake pedal. The lower, wider, longer stance is there almost as much as it is evident on the Super 88 too. More photos later today.

What a f@#king looser. GIve up on racing and just go work at the local Dairy Queen serving soft serves. Whatever, NASCAR is a soap opera on wheels anyway. -
I love seeing these photos... there's something so very masculine & rewarding abot rolling up one's sleeves and get to work on a car. In this day and age when the concept of chaging one's own oil is something that absolutely terrifies most people it's fun to tell people about reallly tearing appart a car & putting it back together.

My Buick also has a Continuously Variable Transmission. But it does not SUCK, was made five decades ago & cost me more than it was new but yet still $100,000 less than this Lexus, give or take a few Datsun Maximas.

Ugly FWD proportions & Jello sculpture styling. And the shifter has to be on a pedestal why?
-
Shame on me for forgeting the Bustleback Seville. 1980-85. Even the 1979-85 Eldorado is quite nice stylistically and like the Razorback it has a longitudinally mounted motor, which eliminates 50% of what I hate about FWD.

Thanks very much guys. HAPPY B-DAY DSUUPR! Basically I got off of work, had dinner w/ the family, put Sofia to bed and me and XP proceded to drive the Buick to Boston. It's now 4:30am and I just now got home. My pipe dream of driving my new 1959 Buick 1000 miles in the first ten days of ownership is plausable. I'm at 870 miles thus far and we still have twi days to go. I got some really awsome shots of the B-59 in Boston and Metro Boston area. You guys will see the best ones soon, some are T.W. Signature worthy.

My list is short: L29 Cord 810 Coffin Nose Razorback Eldo First gen. Toronado Original Austin Mini

From 1946 to 1978 they have round sealed beams, from 1978 to 2002 they have SQUARE sealed beams. Other than that they are the same P.O.S. handbuilt Volvo 240s .

Almost forgot, in those 500 or so miles I've gotten about 200 gawking motorists, 20 perplexed ones, a dozen or so disgusted ones & several honks/thumbs up. Even a few invitations to race, except for the few stoplight wars with XP I've kindly decined any offers to race the Buick, that's just retarded. Anyway I saw a black Solstice today & I gave him the thumbs up on his ride as he checked out the front fender & headlights of my B-59. Only car I've saluted from the seat of my Buick thus far. You know what is funny, many of the the people in the Camry/Accord/Corolla/Civic crowd give me thumbs up and such, more than you'd expect. Doesn;t make sense, they've got good taste enough to slow down & acknowledge my 1950s ride but they drve those Japanese Jellybeans made out of recycled Diet-Pepsi cans. A 1970s Dodge Dart 2dr Hardtop passed by me the other day and I honked the horn. Old-school (late 80s) BMW 6-SERIES was nexgt to me in traffic thr other day, I did not mind at all sharaing the road with him. Camino: Hells Yeah, XP and I will most certainly be calling you if that's the case. This time I'm not eatig "scrapple" however. As O.B. said it's lips & a$$holes.

Yeah... five minutes over the Massachusetts state line and a DOT/State Trooper Chevy Express would be pulling him over. Thank that POS would end up in an impound lot quicker than you can say Toy-O-Duh...

As requested per Balthy's PM I will from here on forth stop calling my Rochester 2-Jet a 1bbl. It is indeed a 2bbl, all joking aside. Now as for you XP, better stop being a deuche since there's a 33.3% chance that my Fifty-9 will be carting your ass down to NYC to pick up that certain used car you've got your eyes on. FYI: This means we might (not holding my breath just yet) be in the tri-state area this upcoming saturday. And if we do go I've already made it clear tom XP that the Datsun twins will be staying home... if you get my drift. No joke, I'm seriously considering a trip down there this sat. since XP can't STFU about a certain car down in NYC that he wants. If this happens I hope we can do a big C&G meeet at a central point. Perhaps Philly would be perfect?

Hahhaahhaha! I'm glad you called me up that day and managed to catch up with me so you could see the B-59. I have barelly been home the past few days, I've just been driving the wheels off my 4411 LeSabre. According to the odometer, which is a bit off for what it's worth, I have added over 500 miles to the car in my first five days of owning it. Mostly real slow & relaxing back roads. Although, I happened to pull up next to a certain orange 1967 Cadillac Eldorado yesterday at a red light and we both went for it... we were neck and neck until about 35/40mph but after that the Razorback spanked me. Still considering we're talking about 429 cubes versus 364, 1bbl versus 4bbl, my Buick did alright. I'm not going to even bring the slow as molases but smoooooth as silk Twin-Turbine trans into the equation. Look for cool pics real soon of the Razorback with the B-59.

All throughout middle school & high school in the early 90s I had several Syclone & Typhoon posters in my bedroom. They certainly are the coolest "trucks" of their respective era not even a contest with the Lightning..

Balthazar: That was the first imperfection I noticed, the mechanical spedometer is off big time (10 to 20 mph depending on speed) And YES, I hope I will be in the area at some point this summer so I can stop by show off my new toy. GM1 also needs that gentle push to get him into RDM. O.B. SHe's a cranky old bitch but I love her more than anythinjg except for Sofia. BTW: Dodgefan just pulled out of my driveway about 20 minutes ago. He came by for a quick visit tro check out the the B-59.

Thanks guys. With a full tank of gas, my toolbox in the trunk & the Tight Whips charter members piled inside all at once she's THREE tons of fun! YellowJacket: I've been saying that for years. I love 1958 Plymouths & the fact that Chrisitine is a two-door hardtop Fury makes her the SRT8 of the day but it's simply not PISSED off looking like these Buicks. Here's more photos for those would like more eye-candy. http://www.cheersandgears.com/forums/index...t=0#entry268865 --------- Just a few short weeks until June 15th 2007! http://www.cheersandgears.com/forums/index...showtopic=14872

My driveway, XP's Lincoln & "Egg" are visible in the background, the Super 88 is sticking out of the car port, Christoper & Izabella's T.P. Cruiser is in front of that while Nick's Ranger Sportside is on the left. Then there's the 1/4 dissassembled 1997 Cadillac STS, obscured by XP's white diamond egg, and not one but TWO little 1st generation Datsun Maximas. 1.5 of them behind the T.P. Cruiser. Mug Shot. Side-view Mirror closeup. Gotta love 1950s attention to detail. Trunk Emblem closeup. I love 1959 emblems. 1960 was the introduction of the Tri-Shield. I think the 1960 Buick is the Automotive equivelant of messing with perfection. Saint Memorial Hospital in Lowell. Had my stiches so I took the Buick, parked it on the street & threw some quarters in the meter. Street parking a car like this makes me a bit nervous though, I should get LowJack for her. Neat Church, thought it made a good backdrop. This is the same parking lot where I used to beat the $#it out of my 1968 Camaro and take videos of burnouts & redneck drifting. (Drum Hill industrial park) Tail light & tailfin closeup. See that little Honda Civic Si running for its life at the mere sight of the Buick? There was also a New Beetle in that parking lot, it caught sight of my Buick and peed its pants. Although I think more than one Prius has soiled itself when my Buick has driven by. I love to Honk the horn a lot too. Only at Hybrids & Ricers though. Out of gas... L-town. Speeding Penguin watched the car while I pumped my crazy legs and came back with a windshield washer jug full of 93 octane from the HESS station that was about 1/2 mile back on that road.

So as I mentioned we drove the LeSabre home in a blizzard the night I bought it. Yet somehow the bias-ply tires & RWD in combination with New England roads didn't manage to kill me. Weird. Yup... it's 11:00pm, April 4th and we've got a full blown Snow Storm starting. Next morning. Can't sleep, too exicted. I've had the car in my possession for almost 12 hours now. Time to take off those 1959 Dodge wheel skirts. Wheel Skirts are off, but I got some of my DNA on the rear quarter. Ouch! She's a firecracker, managed to cut me pretty good. Yes, I take pictures of everything. Later that day I was running important errands, like... ummm... I needed an Arizona Iced Tea & there is this store on the other end of the Merrimack Valley that keeps them extra cold so of course I had to take the Buick since I think the Datsun needs an oil change... yeah, and the left front on the Infiniti was 1 psi. low so taking that car was out of the question. Long story short I rolled the odometer to 54,000 miles. Dashboard, at night. In my honest opinion this is the nicest instrument panel on any car EVER, including Duesenbergs & the Camaro concept. I don't think I've owned a vehicle in the past few years that I have not photographed in front of this Laundromat. I love old school neon. Hmmm... high beams are too much, parking lights seem to work better. Baby got back.

Yes, I almost started a b1tchfe$t thread about the cancellation when I got the notice in the mail. Esp., since toilet paper like Donk, Box & Bubble; Honda Tunning & even that joke Automobile are still printed.

The quietest car I have EVER heard was a 1951 Studebaker Starlight coupe. It did not make so much as a peep as the guy drove away off the Endicott Estate after the carshow. All I heard was the tires driving over the grass!

The usual big family get together. It's at our house this year. Not too often my parents & the in-laws are together but this is one of those times. Should be nice.
