  1. Walt pulled an O.B. and O.B. almost took it personally. All joking aside here's the thing. Honestly if I had $800 for 93 octane, booster, lead addative, gas station junk food & flat tire repair kits I'd drive my 64 Olds down there & hang out with you. Saddly it's not happening this year. I'm going to try to make it out to Penn at some point this summer though.
  2. O.B. nailed it, If you get the $1500 performance pkg. (LSD & Recaros) then I say go for it, otherwise stick with your Camaro. Don;t trade the Camaro, you will not get as much as you can through a private sale or ebay. Look into it and throw your car on craigslist.
  3. Loony Toons kick a$$, classic Donald Duck is the shizznik & Duck Tales were the bomb-diggaty. Ninja Turtles were just plain bad-a$$, Scooby Doo was always a guaranteed good time while the animated show COPS left me wondering if cars would really look like that in 2006... now that I can look back & reflect upon it: they look much more boring.
  4. XP, SP & I just compiled a list of about 500 cars & objects that will be worth points in the "TIGHT WHIPS 1st Annual Invitation Only Scavenger Hunt". A photo of a "Fog Car" will be worth about as many points as a 1978 Ford Granada, but a Citroen is double. (details will be posted on or around the 4th of July)
  5. Thanks everyone. Just like with the Camaro the first night I had it, I could not fall asleep last night. Kept tossing and turning (not like me) and finally just got out of bed at 3:00am, threw on some clothes and went to sit inside the car for like an hour. This thing even has that "1960s new car smell" from the outside. Like when it was being rolled off the flatbed in my driveway before the car's door was even opened I could smell the car's interior from 15 feet away, door closed & windows up.
  6. XP: Dumb Broads. Fly: Agreed... gold package on a silver car =/= best combo.
  7. That's exactly what I said this afternoon. I told SP that if I had bought a 1972 Chevelle or what not I'd be headed in the wrong direction, hardtop or not, but this is definitely a nice stepping-stone to a 1959 Buick HT. I like 'em all but this car found ME not the other way around. The condition, MY & hardtop bodystyle pretty much makes this a steal. As SP put it today, I should be charged with theft for paying $2200 for this beast. If it had been a Bel Air, LeSabre, Catalina, Sedan deVille, Lebaron, Polara, Belvedere, Comet, Fairlane, Continental, American, Comander or almost anything in between I still probably would have bought it if it was 99% complete, 24K for milage but needed a valvejob. You bet.
  8. If this car is not a hardtop, Cadillac will be getting some SERIOUS hate mail from me in 2009.
  9. Okay so first off the sig says it all. Today was a rollercoaster of a day. Thank god I had XP & Penguin there for emotional support. 10:00am WTF, that hole in the car cover is weird... 10:01am Title, Registration, 2 keys, 2 P&S documents & a CD filled wiht hundreds of photos of the Camaro. 12:45pm 1:00pm Depressing... That wad of 49 $100 bills feels soulless and wrong in my back pocket. 1:01am I dial a 781 area code phone number and cross my fingers. Oldest car in my possesion right now is a 1984 Japanese sedan... time is of the essance. I can not let the sun drop below the horizon without having another 1960s classic car in my possession, if only on paper. After a brief conversation I tell sPenguin I'll gas up his 'Bu with some premium if he can drive like the wind to Ashburnham, Mass so we can fletbed a 1964 Super 88 to my house ASAP. 3:30pm This wad of ca$h is just 45% of the money I just got for the Camaro 2 hours ago & yet it buys me a 1964 Oldsmobile Super 88 Holiday Hardtop with 24,000 mi. 5:30pm It's been two hours and we're still on the cell trying to find a legit towing company that will take my ATMC Tow Benefit card & send out a Flatbed to get my new pride and joy home. 5:45pm A flatbed has been dispatched, but it's in Concord Mass so we have a 1.5 - 2.0 hour wait. Fu$% it, SPenguin & I just sit in the Supah-88 and shoot the $h! about how cool it will be to make a 1981 Malibu sandwich using a white 1964 Olds and a white XXXX XXXXXXX*. * not allowed to say word 1 about the car XP might be buying soon, like within two weeks soon. BTW ...yes, this is the original dealer decal from a now defunct Oldsmobile dealer that is semi-famous in the New England area. 7:20pm 8:15pm 8:25pm Both Marcia & Sofia approve of the newest addition to the Tight Whips Car Club. Who the heck is this goofy looking Ba$tard with a trucker's tan? I sold my Camaro to a nice kid who payed me every cent of the $4900 he promissed to pay by clicking "BUY NOW", and it will get the restoration it deserved back in 1986. Marcia has $2000 in her pocket that will help with the downpayment on our first house, which will hopefully be happening soon. I've got a gorgeous classic 4dr hardtop and $700 left over for the valvejob, tires & other miscelaneous things the car will require in the coming months. WIN - WIN - WIN!!! Who says that the Full Moon is a jinxed day??? ---------------- Good Night! ~ Silvester AKA Chapman The "Sixty8Panther" Camaro has left the building... Godspeed little guy.
  10. From the sound of it they might not be capable of raising a child either.
  11. Midland No. Carolina. No... where... near... the middle of No. Carolina!
  12. I want to watch many of these movies now. As a matter of fact I watched DUEL last night. Couldn't help but think of Blathazar's COE Ford in a few of those scenes.
  13. Freidman.... Fried Man. Fried, Baked... Fried, burned at the stake... Seriously let's burn him , he's a witch! Damn ba$tard.
  14. Yes, it's the Communist LaCrosse but still I hope we are getting a short & long wheelbase Buicks. Park Ave & Roadmaster? One can hope I suppose, although that lame-asssed "Statesman" name will most likely come to fruition.
  15. Yeah, you all have good points.
  16. There's a few I'd change but for the most part it's a decent list. I can't beleive Amercain Graffity is not on there though?! http://movies.msn.com/movies/dvd/cars?GT1=8241 What would your list be?
  17. Anohter photo of the Camaro from this Tuesday.
  18. Oh yeah... we hit the 130 mph mark no question about it. If that straightaway had been about anoher 2 miles long we might have had a chance to hit 140, although I think the car is drag limited at like 135. Suer felt like it anyway.
  19. Yeah... between "showing off" my 1984 Datsun at the local disorganized car show & seeing that Buffalo again that was a weird day. MM: I've never asked but I'm dying to know: who's Malibu is that in your sig. popping a nasty wheelstand?
  20. Thanks Camino... it just came to me when I got off the phone with Jamie. (new owner of Camaro) I love this car. If he restores it and ever decides to sell perhaps I'll be in a better financial position and I'll buy it back. -------------- ~ Silvester AKA Panther I close my eyes, only for a moment, and the moment's gone All my dreams, pass before my eyes, a curiosity Dust in the wind, all they are is dust in the wind Same old song, just a drop of water in an endless sea All we do, crumbles to the ground, though we refuse to see Dust in the wind, All we are is dust in the wind Don't hang on, nothing lasts forever but the earth and sky It slips away, all your money won't another minute buy Dust in the wind, All we are is dust in the wind
  21. This is pretty funny. Check out the photo: http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20060610/ap_on_...cat_scares_bear Just goes to show you it's not the size of the cat in the fight it's the size of the fight in the cat.
  22. Yes... true. Except no one cares abotu tht Tercel so if it gets riced out it's no big loss. Stupidity is a dominant gene.
  23. Cool, congrats NOS! Only gets better from here. High School is not the best years of your life, trust me. I really should have chauffeured you ot the prom in the Q while wearing one of those silly hats and blasting Mozart... then rolled out a red carpet for you and Meghan to walk on while acting like you guys were some Hollywood A-list assholes. We could have even tied a Corsage to the Q's grille and had you guys step out holding champagne glasses. That would have been funny.
  24. So much for that, a Mazda Millercyclenia is neither. Seriously BV, your wants and needs are miles appart. OCNBLU has a point, a Mk.II or Mk. III VW Golf or Jetta would be pretty much perfect considering what you're looking for in a car. I'm not a big fan of VW but old school Rabbits & Golfs are cool even in my book. Here's a few things for cheap $$$ in Penn. 5-speed, RWD coupe & sporty styling FWD sedan but it's a 5-speed this sounds like something you'd buy SAVED THE BEST FOR LAST!!! low milage & it's your kind of car Now if it was me... I'd buy this bitchin' Low Milage Beauty!
  25. RWD would make the G6 and/or Aura very appealing to me... as it stands I'm not a big fan of either. They're good cars for their respective demographic but still too close to "Cookie-Cutter" sedan for me to actaully want one. I may get raosted for this but I'll tell you right now if I needed a small sedan similar to the G6 or Aura I would just buy a used IS300 with a manual. It may be a Toyota but it's as close to an old school BMW 2002 or my RWD Maxima as you can get in 2006.
