XP sits on the hood of the Datsun occasionaly, that bugs me a little because the sheetmetal is as thick as wax paper, the Q45 is Black so I'd frown upon it for the sake of the paint. Now when it comes to the old Fleetwood Brougham & Camaro I did not mind at all. Those cars are MEANT to be sat on. What you're describing is a lot more disrespectful though and the whole beer thing is asking to get a fist-fight going. Sounds like these kids were real jerkoffs. Hope that's a one time thing.

Sixty4. It was probably sitting on the car lot at Berijek Motors when Kennedy was shot.

Started her up today after putting 4 more gallons of 93 octane... this car just runs better and better each time I run it.

Darn it, that would be cool but my VIN has an M for the 4th character Linden, NJ has a very high percentage of Slovakian's living there. That would be cool if it had been. Bummer... I was wrong again. My motor is a J designation. to be exact: J 798 785 That "Ultra High Compression" air cleaner plate threw me off. Does this mean ALL 1964 full size Oldsmobiles were powered by high compression 394s? Thanks for all that wicked cool info. Any chance you can look up the torque numbers for the 330HP mill? That 440 @ 3200 sounded delicious so I hope it's not too far off. To be honest for once in my life I don't want to change a thing about a car. I might paint the car "white-diamond" pearl instead of refrigerator white when I get some expendable income but for now all I'm doing is damage control. Wire brush and POR13 for the rusty, flaky frame and some repaint to stop the rust on the lower body and on the passanger side doors. I do need a new rear bumper as mine is rotted out past saving and the passanger side "SUPER 88" emblem's absence bugs me. The original owner of this car would be 110 year old if he were alive today. I'm the third owner but only the second to ever drive it. He took good care of the car inside and out except for that minor srape down the passanger side of the car that you can see in the photos. (poor eyesight + narrow garage?) I think of the Super 88 as almost a time capsule of sorts, the amount of originality with this car is amazing. There was a carboard tag still pinned ot the radiator support, the glove-box & trunk cardboard is in excellent shape and the last battery in the car was a SHELL gas station battery that was put in back in 1977. For more than half its life the car just sat in a garage & even before then it was driven just over 1000 miles a year. It's almost as if I'm taking care of the car for the previous owner. If he were to magically show up in a set of plaid pants, white shoes, white belt & one of those goofy golfing hats I'd just respectfuly hand him the keys and he'd feel right at home behind the wheel of the car he bought brand new back in 1964. Even the Senior Citizen Sticker that expired June 30th 1981 is still on the rear window. The car was bought, driven & garaged in Newton, Mass. Yes indeed it is.

I hate to see what Fly thinks of me buying a '97 Datsun Roadmaster. Please, No photos of Stalin, Hitler, Mao, Pol Pot, Osama or Musolini!

For NeonLX: First I found out about it at an Olds show: http://www.cheersandgears.com/forums/index...topic=8671&st=0 ---------------------------- Then I sold my Camaro and dragged the Olds home: http://www.cheersandgears.com/forums/index...wtopic=9481&hl= ---------------------------- & I got the car running without a valve job. SCORE!: http://www.cheersandgears.com/forums/index...wtopic=9560&hl= ----------------------------

Smithsonian removes GM's EV1 electric car
Sixty8panther replied to douglask's topic in General Motors
Some granola eating prick would make the argument that Toyota is more American than DMX. I'd love to pop him one right in the mouth. I don't think the EV-1 was beautiful but it was very "form follows function" & the Honda Insight ripped off it;'s teardrop shape & styling. -
Priceless... I too thought this was going to be about BV drag racing his Mazda at the local speedway. I'm not much of a fan of oval racing, except if there's crashign involved and I'm sitting behinds the wheel of a demolition derby enduro car. Still this looks like fun.

Scott Settlemire talks about the Camaro concept
Sixty8panther replied to !!!TED!!!'s topic in Chevrolet
Great quote in your sig. TED. "People who are not sensitive to design, people who don't care about vehicles, people who view a vehicle as an appliance, they just default to Toyota." -Bob Lutz -
Hmmm.... well in any case Hyundai is going to be a thorn in Toyota's side more and more in coming years. The Sonata looks a lot better than the new Camry & a RWD Tiburon would be very cool, perhaps it will outsell the Celican and Toyota will bring that back to RWD. I don't even care if the TYiburon get's a V8, even just RWD would be great and it would make a Korean car a serious competitor in drifting.

It's never a good thing to give cops MORE power to f%ck up your life at their discretion. Here in Mass "drag racing" on a public street means all kinds of trouble for the offender... way more than just a fine. Impound, criminal applications & jail time under the cop's discretion. There's been a few times that I got pulled over where I was threatened wiht this offense but the cop never decided to charge me with it. Then again I do not do it around neighborhoods with kids or dangerous curves but more on the highway and empty back road straightaways late at night. Still I think giving the kids a LEGAL outlet for their speed is a more logical and realistic solution.

I'm sorry I forgot to respond... meant to and then forgot. This is my first experience with Marvell's Mystery Oil, so I can tell you only what I know. It dates back to 1923 and untill recently came in a metal can, so you know it's good enough for decades of customers. All I know is that is claims to be a super lubricant, it's supposed to restore lost compression & do all kinds of wonderfuly crazy awsome things to a tired old motor. I was going to try it based on just XP's recomendation but then several other people said the exact same thing, that Marvell's was MADE for exactly that kind of problem. Low compression due to a stuck valve? dump in a bunch of Marvell's and crank the motor enough times to get it up & inside of every nook & cranny. After my experience I'll recomend you not only try it on your motor but hell I'll say buy stock in the company. The one thing people differ on is how much to use & what manner to use it on the motor. XP says use a quart of Marvell's every oil change in place of your oil, but an engine builder told me to dump in a bunch for my stuck valve problem but not to run the motor with it for long. I added 2 quarts of M.M.O. to my motor oil and I plan on doing an oil change in the next few days to get it out. The car is dumping out MASSIVE amounts of carbon monoxide out of its single exhaust. I'm not sure if it has anything to do with the Marvell's though, I mean the car has been waiting to be back on the road for over two decades. Anyone else have any advice on Marvell's? GM1 mentioned in a PM to me that his family has been using it since forever and a day... who else?

I agree... those look great. I love the ones on my Infiniti... they look thick & rugged but yet classy at the same time.

Today: Two new sealed beams: the old ones self destructed the second they were turned on, three decade + old lights probably were not the best idea anyway, one less thing to worry about. The high beams are fine and work well which is surprising. Love that floor mounted switch. I also did the fan/alternator/H20/P.S. belts. 2 all togeather. Next is a coolant flush, oil change & rear end fluid change. Hopefully all by the end of next week, depending on how much work end up coming our way these next few days. Cant' turn down any clients, business has been poor as of late and we NEED the money.

Scott Settlemire talks about the Camaro concept
Sixty8panther replied to !!!TED!!!'s topic in Chevrolet
Damn I love this car. It sounds exactly like a Camaro should: pushrod high-compression V8 channeled through true duals. The styling never gets old and those angel eyes + the hardtop greenhouse make me fall in love wiht it all over again every time I see it. So muscular and taught... taught like a tiger. I can see a dayton yellow one with tuxedo black stripes sitting in a garage next to my Super 88. Thank You Mr. Settlemire. -
I can't even think of what I think about the STS, CTS & or any other Cadillacs when you throw the BLS into the mix. I hate the BLS. The styling is not exactly great, the name is BuLl$h! and the SAAB connection just makes me want to

Just might look better than the guy who did that jump, IF it's not a chop.

Yes indeed she's just beggin' to be driven, smooths out @ low-rpm top gear coasting. Honestly the car is not up for long distance driving but for a vehicle that sat unmoved in some cold & clammy garage for most of the past quarter century it drives pretty damn good. I'd much rather be driving the Super Eighty8 instead of the Mad Max Camaro if it came down to it. Who needs speed when the suspension & brakes are not up to snuff. The Super's bias ply tires are probably still better than that junkyard rubber on the Camaro. More videos coming soon.
