I was watching Mythbusters the other day on Discovery and see this vehicle. It was actually involved in a myth, but I could not believe how easy the car was to take apart. Did anyone else see this and was anyone else concerned that it only took a wrench to take the car down to the frame?

Report: Citroën to build Metropolis concept flagship by Noah Joseph (RSS feed) on Oct 27th 2010 at 5:31PM The beauty of an automaker entering a completely new market like China is the ability to completely redefine what the brand stands for to local buyers. In the case of France's Citroën, they're going decidedly upmarket, but instead of taking baby steps like turning its C3 econo-hatch into the DS3 premium hatch, the French automaker can start completely from scratch. According to reports from Europe and China, parent company PSA/Peugeot-Citroën is planning on jump-starting its Asian operations by building a production version of its Metropolis concept, the first de…

Together, Citroen anticipates the two vehicles will gain share in the C-segment, which accounts for 16 million vehicles globally each year. “The C4 was designed to be a normal car,” says spokesman Jean-Pierre Duvivier.…

But in case the diminutive city cars weren't fashionable enough already, their manufacturers have teamed up with an endless array of fashion houses to create even more stylish versions. Previous examples have included the Fiat 500 by Diesel, the Lancia Ypsilon by Versus and the successive annual Lifeball edition Minis created by the likes of Kenneth Cole, Versace and Agent Provocateur. Citroën, for its part, recently teamed up with Yves St Laurent for a special one such collaboration, and having already launched the DS3 Design Co…

Citroen will boost electric car demand with leasing Automotive News Europe -- September 7, 2010 06:01 CET PARIS (BLOOMBERG) -- Citroen aims to unlock demand for electric cars with leasing programs that include fuel-powered loaners for trips beyond the reach of a single battery charge. The new leasing plan will be available for the C-Zero electric city car as well as combustion-engine models, Valerie Gillot, a spokeswoman, said. It builds on the flexibility of the Mu contract introduced by sister brand Peugeot in February, which also includes occasional access to other vehicles. “Leasing makes the most sense because electric cars are going to force consumers to think i…

The styling changes on the outside are rather minuscule and include the addition of the latest fad to hit the auto industry, LED daytime running lights up front, along with re-trimmed tail lamps, and for the Grand Picasso, a new rear hatch logo. The new upholstery and color options for the interior, and the introduction of Citroën's optional micro-hybrid e-HDi fuel-saving technology…

Citroën reportedly considering producing Survolt, Metropolis concepts [w/pics aplenty] by Noah Joseph (RSS feed) on Jul 15th 2010 at 5:58PM If you were disheartened by reports last week that Citroën had shelved plans to build the GTbyCitroën concept, we've got better news for you this week. Much better news, in fact. First of all, follow-up reports claim that Citroën hasn't killed the program, so the proverbial jury is still out on whether it will get built or not. But that's not even the good part, as Britain's Autocar magazine has it on good authority that the French automaker is working on bringing two more recent concepts into production. The first is the pint-siz…

Filed under: Europe, Hatchback, Citroën 2011 Citroën C4 - Click above for high-res image gallery You'd think a term like "all new" would be fairly absolute. But not when it comes to new cars. Take the new Citroën C4, for example. The French automaker calls it "all new". But it's still based on the platform of the outgoing model. That said, the sheetmetal is fresh, the dimensions have grown some and the hatch is packed with all manner of gizmos, solidifying the chevron brand's place as a technological powerhouse. What sort of tech are we talking about? How about adaptive headlights, lane departure and blind-spot warning systems, user-changeable backlighting in the cabin…

New Citroën C4 Breaks Cover: First Official Pictures of Focus Fighter Tuesday, June 01, 2010 Citroën just couldn't wait until this fall's Paris Salon to show us the all-new C4 five-door hatchback as the French automaker decided to release the first official photos of its C-segment model. As with the current C4, the new compact hatch will take on the likes of the VW Golf, Renault Megane, Ford Focus, Opel Astra and Toyota Auris. If you're thinking it looks familiar in a conservative kind of way, you're probably right as the 2011 C4 is the five-door version of Citroën's near-production DS High Rider concept that was first shown at this year's Geneva Salon. Even though th…

Citroen bets on China; Europe outlook unclear May 27, 2010 15:01 CET PARIS (Reuters) -- France's Citroen, part of carmaker PSA/Peugeot-Citroen, is betting on strong growth in China as waning scrapping incentives make European markets hard to predict for the rest of the year, its head told Reuters. Government schemes to stimulate demand for new cars have supported European auto markets hit hard by a deep industry crisis, but as these schemes end carmakers are increasingly counting on emerging markets for growth. "We are in an environment that is more uncertain than predictable, except in China, where we have a clear scenario of continuing growth," Citroen Managing Dire…

Filed under: Concept Cars, Hybrid, Sedan, Citroën, Shanghai Motor Show, Luxury Citroen Metropolis concept - Click above for high-res image gallery Citroën rarely disappoints when it comes to concept cars. This year, for example, we've already gotten the Survolt and DS High Rider. Its latest effort steps up the luxury in a big way. The Citroën Metropolis concept , set to debut in Shanghai later this month, is a beautiful and very French take on the Maybach formula (whether PSA actually greenlights a production venture into such rarefied air remains to be seen.) Some of the Metropoplis concept's lines are similar to those first seen on the GTbyCitroen supercar, but th…
