  1. The decklid wing is gross but the hood I actually like. "Grand Am SD189" :P
  2. BTW: I'm not talking necessarily about a retro trend that brings back tail fins in the exact shape and form of the 50s and 60s. Even I can agree that the Challenger is too retro and lacks originality. (although I'd still buy it over a FWD Monte Carlo or a wallflower like the Accord Coupe or Solara) Perhaps there is a way to make large sharp protrusions on the back of a car but make them safe for one in a million collisions and pedestrians.
  3. A cop will give you a ticket for "being annoying in public" It's called an 11-76. :P
  4. That's just for the Silverado... the Tahoe/Burban do not have a dome over-ride switch. Well then again I have not been selling new GM vehicles since 2003 so I'm out of the loop. If I sat behind the wheel it would probably jog my memory. I personally believe in DRLs. Once less thing to worry about... if it gets overcast, fogy or whatever low-visibility conditon may occur you have those DRLs to make it less likely that some airhead does not kill you in a head-on collision when he whips around a corner while yakkin on her/his cell phone and adjusting his radio.
  5. The blind man with the yellow hat walks backwards in the blue fog.
  6. Am I the only one that thinks after Art&Science is played out and starts to look dated Cadillac should bring back these? I wish we could make a car like that again. I know if tail fins come back it will be under much more stringent regulation & pedestian safety bull$h! but it would be so sweet to have a 2011 Cadillac with vertical tail fins and lower "Skegs". Again, just thinking out loud.
  7. Among my hundereds of Muscle Cars, dozens of 1969 Camaro and several dozen 1950s Finned Beauties are some weird cars that I had to buy if only for entertainment value: - Isetta - Trabant (yes a 1:18th scale Trabant) - Mini Cooper (1960s) - Mazda Miata - Sunbeam Tiger - Alpine-Renaut Just to mention a few other kooky ones. Still have to pick up a Messerschmitt Kabinenroller and (if they make it) a Peel P50. :P
  8. Hey GM: get a fu*king clue: Monte Carlo name ---- GOOD FWD transverse mounted engined coupe ---- BAD! so therefore: RWD V8 Monte Carlo ---- VERY GOOD!!!
  9. Agreed. Saturn V and 90% of the space race we owe to the Germans. In some ways it was Germany versus Russia in the space race. This is why to this day in comedies, cartoons and popular culture we still have the stereotype of a Scientist, Enginer or other Genius level guy with a white lab coat as having a thick German accent. But gettign back to cars, Wankel/Rotary engines are one of the best examples of the Japanese perfecting & reinventing someone else's design. It's much easier to pick appart an invention, refine it, whittle away at the imperfections and call it your own than to actually INVENT something from scratch. For what it's worth I have an RX7 Brochure from when I was in High School (I think it's like 1994) that shows a cutaway of the Rotary and does give some credit to Felix Wankel for his ingenious design. I'd be interested to find out how many automotive technologies the Japanese have developed themselves. From absolute scratch. *crickets chirping* I'm not talking about reverse engineering a Austin MINI into the Honda 600 or making DOHC a household acronym in the late 80s when the technology was already there well before WWII. I mean something that THEY came up with and were the FIRST to attempt. Fly you're a smart guy... your knowledge in Avaiation and WWII by far surpases mine, I'm seriously asking I can't off the top of my head think of even one thing. Was the Miller Cycle developed wholy by Mazda? How about VVTi... didn;'t the Germans fiddle with that first or did BMW borrow the technology after Toyota invented & developed it?
  10. Yup... kind of a Japanese tradition to this day to borrow technology from Europe and then claim it as their own. Paint up a 262 Swallow in green and Voila: Japanese Jet Fighter/Bomber. It's a damn good thing the Germans or Japanese did not have the Atom bomb their delivery systems (V2 for instance) beat the hell out of the Enola Gay.
  11. Stupid Buick-Suzuki dealer. <_< One of the best looking Buicks of the past 20 years.
  12. I'd love to open up a Ponitac dealership in a town called Tempest or a Dodge dealership in Phoenix.
  13. Cool, this color looks very flatering in real life. B) You live on a dead end road?
  14. As a collector of Car models of every size and shape I have one HUGE gripe: Whenever they realease a 1:18 th scale model they jump the gun and do up the base/1st year/basic model. If they had waited until 2005 for the GTO it could have had the scoops... if they had held off on the C6 Vette they could have done the Z06 and instead of doing up the Mini Cooper they could have waited a fwe months and done the "Cooper S". There's a million differnt examples: PT-Cruiser, Mustang, 300C etc...
  15. [x] is all I'm getting. :(
  16. How about a 4dr Coupe version like the new MB? :P
  17. And the signature of the year goes to: Z28lvr Thanks for keeping the faith and encouraging us to do so as well durring a rare doubtful moment.
  18. If we have to wait untill 2010 to see a production Camaro than GM has it's head up its @$$. I think it's very likely a MY 2008 car in CY 2007 will happen.
  19. WHAT? "Yes! Keep the G6 fwd, but make the GTO a V8 version of the coupe" This is a joke right? Anyone who would vote for a FWD GTO is a prime candidate for Public Transportation and probably went to the kind of sporting events where everyone gets a medal. The GTO should be RWD and V8 only. These two should never be open to discusion.
  20. Well said. The '67 to '70 is still one of the best combinations of clean & minimalist meets bold and cutting edge. *pun intended* GM1: At least the C:marron did not drag a classic name through the mud, these were Eldorados like a '76 Chevette is a race-bred Sport Compact car. Downright bizare.
  21. Thanks MUTE... my acute case of ADHD means it will be shortlived.
  22. United American States
  23. Balhazar: 'Acts of war' are events that happen after war is declared. 'Terrorism' is everything else in this vein outside or prior to that declaration. Exactly. We did not go to Tokyo a few days before Hiroshima and Nagasaki and exchange peace medals wiht the Japanese. They were rotten cowards. Emphasis on the sneak attack. For what it's worht those two Atom bombs saved American and Japanese lives. The level of fanaticism of the Japanese is reinforced by the fact that it took TWO A-boms to make them Surrender. WTF did they think we were still bluffing when a whole city was destroyed in 0.02 secaonds? Anyway you cut it the second bomb was a result of the extreeme rabid nationalism of the Japanese durring WWII. Funny how they allied wiht HItler who had he won would have tried to kill them all anyway. Last time I checked Japanese are not excatly of German descent. It was to Hitler's advantage to have the Japanese and the USA fighthing so both were distracted while he took over mainland Europe. I think Ocnblu said it best. God Bless the USA. It has it's problems but it doesn not suck nearly as much as the rest of the world.
  24. Extra, Extra - Read all about it: FWD declared unconstitutional and all cars with said drivetrain setup declared illegal for sale in the UAS as of Jan. 2006. Carguy: I think you need to emphasise the disadvantages of FWD a little more.
  25. Yeah, who cleaned up the 1st shot? Kudos. :)
