    Cool Regal

I would LOVE to own a clean, rust free 1984 - 1987 Buick Regal Coupe. I don't need a G.N., not even asking for a T-type or T-tops, just a nice solid decent used car that happens to be a G-body Regal Coupe with either the V8 or not too shabby "231" V6. The problem is, in our "post cash for clunkers" world cars like that are very few & far in between. This is a local, semi-decent example of a local Regal for sale, it's not exactly "solid" either, plenty of crust & rust and the price is $2000 FIRM.
  2. Also some more irony by association. The V12 motor in the Pagani is a modified & massaged "m120" sourced from Mercedes Benz. Same basic motor that I have in my "project car" 1992 Mercedes Benz 600SEL. Now my 600SEL is the biggest, baddest production M.B. you could buy from the factory in 1992. It was the first year of the "W140" chassis that replaced the W126 chassis that underpins my wife's 1991 560SEC. Bear with me I am about to make a valid point. One of the most horrific celebrity deaths of our generation was when Princess Diana was killed in Paris in the back of a W140 M.B. but not a V12 powered one, not even a SL. No, her car was the "baby" of the "Big Body Benz" cars with the smallest motor available, the S280 with the 2.8 liter inline-six motor. [straight six] Depending on who you talk / listen to the car was traveling between 65 - 100+mph when the collision happened. One thing is for certain, it was a head on collision with a huge concrete pillar. everyone in the car should have looked like a Moth that hits a Peterbilt grille. And yet, according to some, if she had been wearing her seatbelt she probably would have lived. Stupid, stupid. Your chauffeur is driving at more than TWICE the speed limit while somewhat impaired / intoxicated and you're in city traffic being chased by crazy paparazzi and at no point do you think to click your seatbelt on?! Another PERFECT illustration of mandated, regulated safety being wasted. Mercedes Benz spent over a BILLION DOLLAR$ U.S. to design the W140, safety was a huge chunk of that outrageous number and yet people still manage to wreck the car so bad that all but one person dies out of the four. You can lead a horse to water.....
  3. Ever watch the Disney / Pixar movie Wall-E? There's a point where the captain of the Axiom yells at the Auto-Pilot (Robotic Helm) "I don't WANT to be safe I want to LIVE!!!" I'm reminded of that and am on board with Balthazar, Camino & all others who think the safety Nazis have gotten absurd. Go to a car show and compare a 1971 Cadillac to a 1973 and make sure you have Ralph Nader to thank. And yet..... twenty years later, even with a billion miles of red tape from Washington D.C. Toyota was still allowed to sell deathtraps in this country like the Previa Minivan. BTW, you want safety, here you go:
  4. O.B. Just buy a Camaro already and thank me later! =)
  5. Well said 66Stang.... my years at C&G have made an indelible mark on me. It was here on this forum that I shared my dreams & crazy schemes of how GM needs to bring back the F-body, it was here that I discovered tons of awesome factoids & little known facts about cars, GM & otherwise, and it was here that I've made several life-long friends. Hell, I still have about a 1/6 dozen of you guys in my cell phone to THIS day, even though I've gone through at LEAST seven cell phones in the past few years. Some of those numbers I have not called in 3, 4 years but it's not for lack of caring. Speaking of which, is GM1 still active, I think of him often but I think the last time I remember him being active on the forum was around 2007...?
  6. O.B. Just be glad you're okay. Sounds like your Ford did a good job of protecting you. Left turn related accidents are usually quite dangerous & very frequent in certain intersections.
  7. WTF? Can someone please give me back that 2 minutes of my life? That video was absolutely pathetic and that cinematography was juvenile. O.B. Sorry, not to be a jerk but I will agree on your assessment of it as "Spunky" based on the UK definition of Spunk. I hear it does 0-60 in 8.95 Seconds, but only if you hit the brakes when entering a busy parking lot with lots of foot traffic and you press the brake pedal all the way down.
  8. I've had my cell # for about 6 years now.... I still get calls on occasion for a "Jerry". "Are you sure this is not Jerry's number?" [some old gentleman who is probably living in a nursing home]
  9. I actually like the Peel, just for the Absurdity of it, and it was manufactured on the "Isle of Man" which just adds to the weirdness. The Peel, as goofy as it was, did have some styling to it. While still goofy & funny it looks like PRODUCT instead of a 4th grade science project like this "72 Cassalini".
  10. "The Beginning" by the Black Eyed Peas has been in the CD player of the 560SEC for about 3 weeks now. "Someday" is a great track. I had the car at 125mph the other day (closed all four windows after 90mph) and that song was blastin' from the speakers. EDIT: 4am, empty 4 lane highway (just for the record)
  11. Looks related to or styled similar to the 1990 Jaguar XJ-R15

I'm definitely certified. In fact the men in white coats are hunting for me in the woods right now. O.B. I ask about the Flickr account is because someone has a user name very similar to your username. Also, one time this user posted a shot of a car from a cruise night somewhere in your neck of the woods. Then again it is a popular sort of name: http://www.flickr.com/search/people/?q=oceanblue
  13. Wow... White Diamond Elegance FTW. Is it NorthStar powered?
  14. Yeah.... well Cadillac back in the 1950s was a powerhouse of a brand.
  15. I've never ben a big fan of the C-class or even the old 190e, but the new C-class is quite elegant & looks like a real Mercedes Benz, not some "upscale economy sedan" That being said this is supposed to be a Cadillac, let's hope it looks like a real Caddy. I can see the Mercedes comparison based on the body line that shoots up & over the center-line of the car, or if you will, slopes downward towards the front of the car. This new Caddy has RWD proportions, is it? Will there be an AWD version for the Scardy-Cats & Pansies in the North East?
  16. Alternative sarcastic post: I've heard of an "Ohio Log Ride" but this looks even more cramped than an "Alaskan Pipeline"!
  17. EDIT: just read the eBay listing. This person is def. either a serious wacko or on drugs. Not really meant as either a complement or an insult. Just opinion. I will say I give them props. on the faux-side pipes & white walls.
  18. I think I just got a migraine. You know what though, that took some skill & craftsmanship. It's got some redeeming value as far as "Art Car" status goes. Those tail lights are insane but I'm sort of impressed with some of the details. It's prob. a "30 footer" though. I wonder what it was based on.... 3rd Gen. F-body?
  19. Whatever, I'm not jealous!!! Okay, yes I am. That Vette is killer, thank god you got the manual, good for you. BTW: Inferno Orange really is a fantastic shade of metallic.
  20. Wow, that sucks O.B. We're all glad to hear you're okay. I told you. no more playing "Angry Birds" on your iphone while driving, or at least not while also eating KFC. All joking aside, you got any Photos? Try to top THIS:
  21. out with the old... & in with the new -
  22. I say put Roger Smith in the crusher!!!!!!
  23. As a big fan of German cars I do enjoy certain features that Mercedes Benz & BMW cars provide above and beyond anyone else... but truth be told this seems like a pretty useless complication to the already over-taxed wiring harness. You wanna talk about a cool feature? The e31 Hardtop coupes, also known as the 8-series, had a few neat ones. If you're driving your 840Ci / 850i / 850Ci / 850CSi you have around like I do, that is with all four windows lowered since it's a hardtop, there's a certain safety feature you might notice. Specifically, if you exceed 100mph all the windows automatically go up & seal up the cabin. THAT is the kind of German engineering I can appreciate.

LoL Yeah, not quite how the joke goes but you get the idea. BTW: do you have a Flickr account? (actually a serious question)
