  1. The proportions/profile are still disgusting ....FWD-gasmic. The fascia is a HUGE improvement though... from head on it's actaully handsome.
  2. My backup plan is to hit up every sperm/blood/tissue donor bank in New England... twice a week.
  3. The quirky "boomerang" style headlight/tailight design language works much better here than in the Maxima, and I like the move, subtleas it may be to the Datsun 240Z retro-esque styling. One gripe: That glued in rear-side window... its a decent size from the outside but the actual GLASS area is the size of a Bolivian Air Mail postage stamp.
  4. That was some great SNL.... that's one of a few I've downloaded. It's from the "Your mother was a whore, Trebeck!" era.
  5. So they're slightly more "profitable" than Saturn.
  6. NEW cars have sucked for a couple decades now... There are some fantastic cars out there today but the average car is garbage.... just lame, "personal commuter bus" transport pods.
  7. Oh.... and before I forget. GREAT ARTICLE! 66S: why'd you turn him away?
  8. if GM had not said F*** You to all us RWD-only car nuts they would be doing a WHOLE lot better.
  9. Good stuff Moltar. "62 would be a fun phantom for sure.... http://images.customclassictrucks.com/feat..._close_view.jpg
  10. Check out the awesome patina on that angry beast.
  11. The dope who listed that Datsun 240Z on eBay misrepresented it as a 4-cylinder. An AIR COOLED, pref. 1960s Porsche 911 is high on my list of must drive and would love to own cars of this lifetime. I've driven a few 911s but sadly all have been H2O cooled.
  12. If they were not such rusty bucket of flimsy bolts and thin sheet metal I'd be tempted to pick up a 1970-1973 Celica hardtop... that mini-Mopar styling has always tickled my fancy. It's like a Mini-Charger Clown Car. The fastback looked the best but both it and the notch-back were pillarless hardtops.
  13. I think my favorite 3 years for the ElCamino, in order, would be '59 '60 '67 BUT If I had the money I'd commission a craftsman to artfully sculpt a semi-solid 1961 Biscayne into the best one that never was.
  14. And who's to blame.... let me guess? Those damn evil Republicans, right? WRONG! It is a failure of epic proportions and both Republicans and Democrats & the Japanese & Chinese & French & who-ever-the-heck else you want to pull out of a hat.... they all played a part. BUT, I find it interesting you you're always offering blame without real advice. Brace yourself, we're fu*ked! is hardly good advice. And for the record I think massive blame belongs with "Dubya" More than any other president, W. J. Clinton sold us down the river to the Chinese... he enabled Ross Perot's prophecy and THAT was & is the biggest part of the puzzle that morphed into "Depression 2008." Free Trade. I find it very frustrating that thread after thread is closed after the conversation is monopolized by one of two sides. How about being pro-active, why the heck can't we as a country come together and agree to kick ass and take names? You're moving to Germany... well that's great. Thanks & Goodbye. I love Germany, I love Slovakia & the EU, but I love the USA 1st and foremost and I think its time we got MAD and then DEMANDED some real Change... Obama will have his chance but after the feel good speeches wear off I'm afraid it will be business as usual with a liberal amount of liberalism thrown in.
  15. I wish I shared your optimism.
  16. I terms of styling, the last gen. Celica was one of the most original, interesting and cohesive designs that has been sold in the USA by Toyota in over two decades, Those high cut headlights and the very unorthodox sculpting of the car's flanks, the stretched canvas greenhouse... I gotta tell you a few Celica GT-S magazine cutouts graced my walls back in college... sharing room with 1969 Camaros & 1932 Ford Hot Rods. There is not ONE car today sold in the USA by ToyoPet Inc. outside of the IS-series & GS-series lexus products that has any worth to me. The average Toyota product in 2008 honestly gets about a D+ from me... where as the last gen. Celica was a product that at least interested me enough to take a second glance.
  17. I saw the headline on the WSJ at the supermarket... For fear that a intense bloodpressure spike would kill me I opted to just walk away. I agree with FoG, 66S, Camino and the rest and add to that: I'm not a vegetarian, and when Armagedon hits there will be absolutely NO use for someone as worthless & unproductive as a stock broker... So I say we roast this M******er like a stuck pig.
  18. This... coming from someone who tried to convince us all on this forum that Obama was NOT a socialist? I'm confused!?
  19. Speaking of craigslis hack-jobs.... Camino: how do you feel about '55 Oldsmobiles? http://boston.craigslist.org/sob/cto/911271711.html The B-pillar on this one, while neccessary, is most unlpleasing to the eye... F- on the greenhouse.
  20. Yeah... well my parents were planning that all along, they want to retire there and might have already had it not been for me giving them two grandchildren they'd miss dearly. As far as myself... I LOVE the USA, to just walk out on this country seems wrong. The USA is, IMHO the best country in the history of the world. No place has ever offered so much and asked so little in return. I hope dearly that the USA makes it through these upcoming tough times intact... esp. the constitution... civil liberties etc. Short term: I'm not going anywhere outside the USA, and I'd love to help our country get back on track, long term: at some point people realised that the Titanic WAS sinking and there were NOT enough lifeboats... Survival is a critical component of the human psyche... it might be ugly and sad but push come to shove I'll go back to the motherland.
  21. Night Train by Guns & Roses, 1987 Loaded like a freight train Flyin' like an aeroplane Feelin' like a space brain One more time tonight Well I'm a west coast struttin' One bad mother Got a rattlesnake suitcase Under my arm Said I'm a mean machine Been drinkin' gasoline And honey you can make my motor hum Well I got one chance left In a nine live cat I got a dog eat dog sly smile I got a Molotov cocktail with a match to go I smoke my cigarette with style An I can tell you honey You can make my money tonight Wake up late honey put on your clothes Take your credit card to the liquor store That's one for you and two for me by tonight I'll be loaded like a freight train Flyin' like an aeroplane Feelin' like a space brain One more time tonight I'm on the nightrain Bottoms up I'm on the nightrain Fill my cup I'm on the nightrain Ready to crash and burn I never learn I'm on the nightrain I love that stuff I'm on the nightrain I can never get enough I'm on the nightrain Never to return - no Loaded like a freight train Flyin' like an aeroplane Speedin' like a space brain One more time tonight I'm on the nightrain And I'm lookin' for some I'm on the nightrain So's I can leave this slum I'm on the nightrain And I'm ready to crash an' burn Nightrain Bottoms up I'm on the nightrain Fill my cup I'm on the nightrain Whoa yeah I'm on the nightrain Love that stuff I'm on the nightrain An I can never get enough Ridin' the nightrain I guess I I guess, I guess, I guess I never learn On the nightrain Float me home Ooh I'm on the nightrain Ridin' the nightrain Never to return Nightrain ------ You learn something new every day.... here I've been thinking for YEARS that Axl sings Take your LEADED CAR to the liquor store when I guess it's actually: Take your credit card to the liquor store Carz on teh Brein
  22. Since a few weeks before the "release" of Chinese Democracy I've been listening to G&R's Apetite & Illusion disks... (who else on here bought Spaghetti Incident?) My three favorites of all time from G&R: 1. Sweet Child 2. You Could be Mine 3. Night Train Not too often does the cover song eclipse the original. This is one of those rare times.
  23. Still nicer and better looking than the Tundra, Ridgeline & most modern Lincolns. Yes, I too think it's awkward from the rear, the bed rails are disproportionate, & the two-tone paint seemed to exasperate the awkwardness. Cadillacs seemed to lend them selves well to this kind of conversion... some of them do look quite factory-stock, with production-level qaulity.
  24. FTW
  25. Well I;m going to interject here and say I'm somewhere in the middle... not quite as pissed off as XP about this but I can see his point, and certainly Balthy has a great point, and in any case I think we can all agree that in the current economic climate this guy's $6000 reserve is laughable and he's wasting his time/$ on e|Bay. Now if I saw this on the guy's front lawn with a For Sale sign reading $1200 o.b.o. I'd be tempted to drive this turd-bucket and have something semi-beater-iffic.
