The one benefit I see to manual windows is that they can be rolled down without battery power, such as when the car is turned off. Although I imagine many cars now continue to provide juice after the car is turned off, until someone opens a door.

I have to agree. That car is extremely plush. Cadillac should take notes. At least for some aspects of it.

It's a 2006 or 07 Element - with painted plastic panels (for better or worse... I'm thinking better, but not by enough). Someone in the house said, "Oh yeah, she got a new car. A Honda... something." I'm thinking, "Please don't be the Element. Please don't be the Element." So she walks into the house and they ask her, "What kind of car did you get?" Even she stalled for a bit. Is the radio surround still silver? The radio in mine is painted the same silver color as the surround, so it looks really good (despite material cheapness). From those pictures, I can't tell if they're going with a black surround now, or if they're going to have the contrasting black and silver look.

Hmm... You mean the crazy-ass drivers around here aren't enough to keep people alert? Probably the most annoying thing to drive through on Long Island is the every-500-feet water drain in the left lanes of the Cross Island Parkway and Southern State Parkway. I either have to keep my car all the way to the right side of the lane, or I have to have to drive through a big ass BA-DUMP! every 5 seconds.

I've decided I hate the higher humidity. I now put my AC on with recirculated air even when it's in the 70s, just because I feel clammy. On the other hand, I'd rather not deal with 110-degree temperatures. For voting purposes, I'll go with the one with the lowest humidity. But give me a cool, breezy 70-degree day any day of the week, and that will always be my favorite.

Well... You can call me Tony. I drive a Cobalt LT, but have spent my last 600 driving miles in an AWD Astro. Have also driven and loved a 1994 Firebird Formula and a 2003 Cadillac CTS. I would seriously consider a RWD Pontiac Solstice as a second vehicle... And when it comes out, the new Camaro as my first. And to add to the anti-Toyota sentiment... F--- Toyota in the a------ with a jagged stick.

Such is the sad reality of moden automobility. As it's always been, you trade size and safety for fuel economy. However, a lot more people these days seem more interested in size and safety. If the Smarts can get 4-5 star safety ratings for their class, then they'll sell. --- And soccer moms? For the love of all things holy, please get a regular WAGON and a speaker phone! Just a little reminder why these hideous things sell. What's funny is as I walked towards my uncle's house I saw the car and said "aw man that thing's ugly...". I'm just glad I made no comments when I went in to the house. I could have offended her. But think about it. What other car company sells a vehicle with an interior that can be hosed down? GM had the Envoy XUV, for a good $20k more than the Element sells for. They also had the Aztek, which was a similar concept, both in form and in function. And pick-up trucks, well, in general it's not a good idea to keep a dog in the outer compartment of a moving vehicle.

That would definitely be a car strictly for appliance purposes. If I got one, I wouldn't care if the paint got scratched or anything. Well... I would, but not as much.

The way it's described, it sounds like an aftermarket kit. Eddie could have easily said to the installation crew, "Leave off that option, I want to be watching that $#!+ while I'm driving."

This time, it's scratches in the paint. Next time, you might not be so lucky. To your credit, you couldn't have predicted a deer dashing out in front of you... I haven't had it happen to me, yet, but I've driven past dozens of carcasses where someone DID have that accident, and am always reminded to keep my eyes on the road and the trees. We're just saying take care of yourself. Speaking of lucky crashes, the DAY AFTER I first got my Cobalt, I slid off the side of an icy road into a snow bank. No scratches or anything, but a tow truck had to get it out. That's the day I first got the hint that traction control has nothing to do with keeping your car on the road.
