MAZDA REPORTS JANUARY SALES

IRVINE, Calif., Feb. 3, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Mazda North American Operations (MNAO) today reported January U.S. sales of 18,813 vehicles, representing a decrease of 11.8 percent versus last year.

Key January sales notes:

  • Mazda6 posted another great month of sales growth with 3,172 units sold, resulting in a 47.7 percent increase, year-over-year (YOY).
  • Mazda3 5-door continues to grow in popularity as it posted its best January ever with 2,118 vehicles sold, accounting for an increase of 16.4 percent YOY.
  • January marked the first month of production for Mazda's new manufacturing facility in Salamanca, Mexico. Mazda Motor Manufacturing de Mexico has begun building the all-new 2014 Mazda3, which will predominantly be distributed to North America. Mazda3 inventory and mix should improve after shipments begin.
  • SKYACTIV®1 TECHNOLOGY leads the way in fuel efficiency without compromise as Mazda's January sales were comprised of 75 percent SKYACTIV-equipped vehicles.
