Rumorpile: BMW Working On A Z2 Roadster?

    By William Maley

    January 30, 2013

BMW is hard at work on a front-wheel drive assault, with the company considering almost twenty-three FWD vehicles (Twelve for BMW, eleven for MINI). One of those vehicles could be a two-seat roadster, due out in 2015

“We are considering a car in the spirit of the original Z3. It is of similar size to the E36/7 [the codename for the Z3 produced between 1996 and 2002] but is planned to use the front-wheel drive platform to keep costs down and achieve a margin level that ensures it is sustainable at comparatively low production volumes,” a BMW official reportedly told Autocar.

Codenamed Z2, the model will sit underneath the Z4 and compete with the Miata/MX-5. The Z2 will come with a range of gas engine, including a 2.0L turbocharged engine producing as much as 300 horsepower.

BMW is making 12 FWD vehicles? Chevy doesn't even have that many! (8 by my count for chevy)

They're considering making 12.. I'm thinking the count includes variations of the base FWD models (1-Series, 2-Series)

BMW is going down the WRONG road in doing FWD. People here see BMW as Luxury only with Performance Driving Road Machines and I see this backfiring for BMW. Oh well, they should use Mini Cooper to expand having Class 1 & 2 FWD appliances and not water down BMW. Europe might be used to this, but not the US.

    • Made bacon and sausage burritos that i heat up, then on a hot pan for a couple minutes per side to make crunchy. This way I can go back in forth between two types of protein. This fall weather, slow cooked crock pot beef stew always hits home for me.
    • Montreal style pizza The crust is puffy. Thick. But the bread is airy and soft. The crust is crunchy.  Oven baked of course.  Wood fired ovens but those were outlawed several years ago because of air pollution.  So a regular pizza oven it is.  Baked until the crust is golden brown.  Some old school Italians and Greeks used to put 7Up in the dough.  The tomato sauce would be a slight variation of the original tomato sauce of the original pizza.  Sweet san marzano tomatoes, basil, oregano, fennel, a tad of chili flakes, salt, pepper. All kinds of toppings but the stereotypical toppings would be all dressed.  All dressed: thinly sliced pepperoni, thinly sliced green bell peppers, mushrooms and mozzarella cheese.  The pepperoni is Milano pepperoni. That is the secret to our pepperoni.     Outside of Italy and og pizza, old school original Montreal pizza from the 1900s-1980s in Italian or Greek  family owned restaurants at each and every Montreal street corner literally, is truly the best.  There are still some pizza joints that have kept this recipe and style going on today.    Montreal bagels Smaller than NYC. Sweeter due to being boiled in honey-sweetened water as opposed to boiled in salted, malted water.  And like with the pizzas, Montreal bagels are supposed to be wood fire oven baked.  And the most famous of Montreal bagels, St. Viateur and Fairmount still use wood fire ovens. Exempted from Montreal's air pollution laws because of Montreal heritage clauses...   Ive never had NYC bagels. So I cant comment personally on which is better.   The pizzas though I could. And I will fight anybody on any hill defending Montreal pizza and calling Montreal pizza the best ANYWHERES in the world with the exception of Italy.  And while I havent had pizza in Italy, there is 1 Montreal pizza joint who serves authentic OG pizzas and they are simply DELIZIOSO!!!
    • I have increased my cooking, BBQing and enjoy buying kitchen stuff to expand my cooking. In fact, I think this whole year other than working the tradeshow that required me eating out that the company paid for, I might have only been out to eat 6 to 12 times at most. Now I plan and cook especially on Sunday for meals all week long. I enjoy breakfast burritos that I make and this last week made a huge pot of beef stew. Was great, so much cheaper.
