Production Version of Chevrolet Bolt Will Keep the Name

    • The Chevrolet Bolt Will Be Keeping Its Name

We know that Chevrolet will be sending the Bolt concept car into production late next year, but there a number of items still up in the air such as what will the production model will be called. Surely Chevrolet won't keep the Bolt name as it introduces confusion with the Volt, right?

Tim Mahoney, Chevrolet's marketing chief tells USA Today that Bolt is sticking around.

"The decision is made. The name won't be changed,"said Mahoney

Mahoney explained that while the two names do sound similar, it provides Chevrolet "an advantage." That advantage is the Bolt name "association with Chevrolet is nearly immediate,"since the Volt is a well known Chevrolet.

Mahoney went onto say that Chevrolet did two studies trying out the Bolt name on potential buyers. The results were the same; buyers liked the name.

    Yes, Good Move GM! :D

My wife loves the look of this and asked me if we could add an American EV to the family of auto's when it comes out. She loves things quiet and wants something to just get to work and run errands and home. Small, Cute and efficient.

So I figure 2017 a BOLT will enter the family auto group.

    Excited. :P

great decision by Chevrolet.  Maybe Bolt from the movie could be an ad spokesman.

If the range promised is delivered, this may be a bellweather for EV's in general.

So with the Volt and Bolt will we see a subcompact Jolt?

    Funny.

I agree that is is a good marketing branding concept.

You called it first, if they come out with the Jolt.

I would vote for Colt, but oh wait, already taken.

I like the Colt for Dodge that would go well with the Dart and Colt EV.

I wonder if Jolt Cola would sue over the name Jolt for a Subcompact EV?

With the clock winding down on production of the Holden Commodore, Chevrolet dealers are snapping the remaining lot of SS models being exported to the U.S. Wheels has learned from Chevrolet that the extra 1,000 SS models Holden was planning to build for the U.S. market have been snapped up.
“All US dealer orders are in for the allocated production of the 2017 Chevrolet SS. This includes any additional units that were confirmed for production last year,” said Chevrolet.
Originally, Holden was planning on building 2,000 SS for the U.S. However, the large demand by dealers for the last SS models caused Holden to add an additional 1,000 models for export.

GM CEO Mary Barra states BOLT will be platform for complete series of EVs!
This is exciting to see in this interview that Road/Show posted with GM CEO Mary Barra who was excited to talk about the BOLT and was asked about a Hybrid or EV Camero and she says anything is possible. This was based on the interviewer asking her thoughts about the Hybrid announcement by FORD of the mustang. They also talked about Hybrid trucks in California and Fords announcements of other EV's and Hybrids. Much more on Crossovers / SUVs etc. They also talk about Cadillac subscription service. Pretty good interview only 4:46 min long. Currently driving an XT5.

I have one co-worker who has been a thorn in my side for the past 6 months.... but I have to admit that when I need something done that is in his area of expertise, he goes after it like an angry rabid chihuahua and gets it done.
