Rumorpile: Lexus Working On A Smaller GS Hybrid

With Lexus changing their hybrid priorities, Auto Express reports that they're working on a smaller hybrid GS.

"We are working on a number of solutions to offer low CO2 emissions, and these include a small hybrid," said deputy chief engineer Koji Sato.

The new GS, possibly to be called the GS300h will use the 2.5L four-cylinder hybrid powertrain found in the Toyota Camry Hybrid and Lexus ES 300h. The 2.5L hybrid powertrain produces a combined 200 HP and return a combined 40 MPG on the ES300h.

Smaller as in smaller engine, I assume...as compared to the 3.5 V6 in the GS450h.

Yes. And it appears the engine in question is a 2.5L V6 thats in the GS250 (Sold in Europe and other places.)

Still do not think this will help them sell more cars to out sell all the other luxury makers. They are just trying to find a way to spread the cost around and lower production cost to make it a success under the Toyota label.
