Rumorpile: Nissan Readies A Sports Car Concept To Rival GT86

October 22, 2013

The Toyota GT86/Scion FR-S really doesn't have any direct competitors aside from the Mazda Miata. But that could be changing.

What Car? is reporting that Nissan is readying a concept car that is the company's possible answer to the GT86. The design of this concept is inspired by a car from the company's past. Nissan isn't saying what that vehicle is, but did say it isn't a Z car.

Nissan will gauge the reception of concept and decide whether or not to put it into production. If given the green light, the production model will use the Juke's turbocharged 1.6L four-cylinder.

The Chevy R130 I would think would compete directly against this car.

I would love for there to be a reborn SX. I miss the heyday of high-performance coupes.

Silvia would be cool. At the same time this has more style and would make a wicked Skyline in comparison to the current bland Turd they have now.

Chevy will not build the r130, Nissan will build this sports car....you loose one hundred percent of the battles you choose not to fight. But that's fine...I would rather see GM improve the bland Malibu than make a low volume sports car.

Pretty much this!
