    Zotye Announces US Dealership Network

      19 stores to start

    Chinese automaker Zotye (pronounced Zoh'-Tay) has announced it has signed agreements for 19 stores with various dealership groups nationwide.  This move brings the company closer to being the first manufacturer to sell Chinese made vehicles under a Chinese brand name. Eventually, Zotye plans to enter 80 US markets with 300 to 325 dealers. The company is hoping to reach that goal by the end of 2020.  The next round of dealership expansion is expected in March 2019.

    While no vehicle has officially been announced, it has been widely speculated that the first Zotye vehicle offered will be the Zotye T600 (shown above), a crossover offered for sale in China since 2013. 

    Zotye aims to be a low-cost automaker at the value end of the spectrum.

    Their main partner in China is Ford. 

    I'm assuming we'll get an updated version of the T600.

    A product of necessity. In order to do business in China, US manufacturers have to partner with a local company.

    In this though they are assisting the Chinese takeover of the US auto market. I stand by my comments.

    In that case, all of the US manufacturers (and Japanese, and German) are equally guilty.

    Alas, such is the nature of global companies...far too many US-based companies are dependent on China for electronics and consumer product manufacturing.

      I was referring more to the demographics.  I was driving around the Stone Mountain suburb of Atlanta, which a few people have tried to push toward a comeback, given that it has a little bohemian village at its center, and it hasn't worked.  Some of the junior sized McMansions look nice, but there are metal doors over the front doors.  Some of them also look neglected and they're not that old.  It might have been redneck at some point, hence the gun toting, but this is clearly a majority African-American neighborhood at this point and has been for a while.

      Sorry to hear about your car @smk4565. I know it was special for you. That really sucks. They are fine on paper as long as you drive like a grandma, or not in NJ.

      Yep, this is one of those things where the theoretical and mathematical equations just aren't equaling in the real world. On paper the 2.0T should be just fine and I'm sure the engineers have all ran specific tests and numbers saying this is the perfect configuration for their application(s) however, it just doesn't work out in the real world.

      I agree that it does have far more space inside than a GLS, Escalade or any other full size SUV. Still feel that the Minivan scene would take off more if they were styled like an SUV and had AWD. I see now more of the Kia Minivan around the Seattle area than Chrysler, Toyota, or Honda and people I talk with love the style plus all the room inside. As @Drew Dowdell pointed out, I do hear that others wish the stow and go seats would be incorporated into other makes. I have to figure there is a patent issue or some legal issue as to why Honda, Toyota, Kia have not done it yet.
