-----> I got ANOTHER car!

Recommended Posts

This makes SIX cars in my driveway now (counting the demolition derby Mazda).... see if you can name the sixth: here's some clues:

1. It was made in the year of my birth (MY is also the year of my birth)

2. Although it's been repainted, it is still the original color: Firethorn Red

3. It shares a lot of parts wiht another car in my driveway

4. I've owned a few cars from this Manufacturer but never this model

5. It has a 7.0 liter enigne

Pictures and a complete story to follow. :)

1979 Coupe DeVille. Damn it Balthazar you're so freekin' good it get's annoying. J/K :) By the way the car in question is Firethorn Red wiht a white interior. Look for pics. later on today. The story of this car and several other incidents plays out like a Twilight Zone episode. Weird stuff. I'll try to post the details tonight.

Thanks Ocnblu... now without cheating who will be the first to explain to me the biggest difference between the CoupeDeVille in my driveway and the Fleetwood Brougham Coupe in my sig.?

There's one thing that is completely different between the two cars. Worlds appart as far as I'm concerned.

The sheetmetal is different between the '77-79 and '80-85 (?) coupes.... the '80-85 had a more vertical rear window... the interiors were pretty much the same, though...and of course, the engines differed...(425 in '77-79 then 368 in '80 and the 4.1 came about somewhere in there...there were also diesels in the early '80s and even some V6 deVilles... Yeah, the one in the sig is '80 or newer. The car was reskinned. The hoodline is lower, the back glass is more upright. On the Fleetwood, the quarter glass is smaller than the Deville, more formal. The front bumper doesn't wrap fully around to the wheelwells like the '77-'79. Overall, it's just a smidgen less squared off than the earlier car.

Yup, it was the sloped rear window on the C.D.V. that still gives a slight hint of the good old days... (bubble tops & hardtops) while the very upright sqared off rear on the F.B. gives the greenhouse a much more conservative and 80s look. But aseveryone else poited out there are several other differences, some cosmetically obvious while others a mild tweek or rework. To a laymen they might never notice half of the physical differences.
