Honda's Latest Van Adverts

Recommended Posts

I couldn't help but notice Honda's advertisements for the Odyssey- stuff like "The Van is BACK" and "Respect the Van" along with all of the crazy psychadelic colours and whatnots and think to myself, either Honda is trying to appeal to new "hippies", people of the 1960's/`70's, or of course, nothing like the classic clam bake in a van, eh? Let's get one of those.

Any other thoughts?

I've seen those ads. The theme doesn't seem to be a good Honda Fit, though. It is a shame VW squandered their opportunity when they decided not to build a new Bus.

So the new van isn't going to be retro at all? I was hoping it wasn't going to be a re-badge of the Mopar Vans... And btw, the ads are really cool. I just don't think the way to get people to "respect the van" is by playing songs from before the minivan was hot.

My favorite ad for the Odyssey is the one where the couple is driving in it like the van is a sportscar. It made it seem 'desirable".

Agreed, and speaking of the Fit it looks uglier & more &

more like an ugly, nasty dustmite every time I see one.

The Odyssey is just it's ugly mother-ship.

Screw Honda. Anyone with a brainstem knows that if you need a van you always go with Mopar.

Ehh, for the past eight years it has been the Odyssey. Especially when we bought ours back in 2002, there was no contest... it was easily better than any other minivan.

2002 Sienna? Still first-generation

2002 Quest? Gutless and cramped

2002 Venture? Underpowered and unsafe

2002 MPV? Cool features, but tiny

2002 Sedona? Overweight and slow

2002 Windstar? Ancient

2002 Grand Caravan? Roomy but lacking any clever minivan features

2002 Odyssey? Largest interior, greatest cargo area, best handling, fold-into-hole third row, second row "magic seats", first row folding tray, navigation, 240 hp, 5-speed auto
