Suggestions?

15 posts in this topic

When my kids were small, I built a really nice playhouse for them. About the same time I bought a Fiat 600 has a project car (see generic example below)

My wife thought the car would look cute parked next to the playhouse. Now that my daughter has a daughter of her own, she would like to replicate the experience for her. I am looking for suggestions for diminutive sized cars to park next to the playhouse. What would you suggest. So far the leading contenders are a Nash Metropolitan or a bug-eyed sprite.

I recently saw a Morris Minor for sale. Needed a restoration pretty badly, but it apparently goes and stops. $1500 doesn't seem so bad for it.

There's a relatively mint black/white Nash Metropoliton for sale a mile down the road from me. $4k.

You can't go wrong with a Mini Cooper, though. :P

I've got time to kill today and was planning on going car shopping in that neck of the woods anyways, so I'll see what I can find out about it. Its sitting next to a handful of other older cars (what looked like a beat up old Charger, an El Camino and an ancient Dodge sedan when I was there the other night) that were probably restoration projects that people gave up on. The Morris really did look like it was in as good of shape as one could expect out of something that old for that price.

I went and looked at the Minor, and the body is in good shape where it isn't rusty. The rust is concentrated where the wood would be, along with some under the doors.

Thanks for your efforts. I suppose a California car would save me shipping and the rust problem too. An air cooled VW would be a good bet for parts availability and cost but they really are too big.
