2008 Turbocharged Chevy Cobalt SS

Featured Replies

At 140 mph!!!

See the Chevy Cobalt SS do a hot lap in the Nurburgring. This is a GM shot video. I like the way it gets airborne at about the 7:30 section.

Its John Heinricy driving in the wet. He is probably GM's hottest-shoed driver.

Enjoy!

2:42/3 the track says "f@#k" :P

Niiiice.

A FWD American car does the Nurburgring in the same time as the fabled 1996 Nissan Skyline GT-R? OUTRAGEOUS!!! Congrats GM on one kick ass compact.

If you listen closely, he says the track is wet and that the car is capable of 180 on the straight. :)

You sure about that? That seems like a lot for this car (my SS tops out at 158). I thought it was somewhere in the 140's.

AAS - your car probably has a limiter at 158 if it's the same as the GTO, I'm sure it is capable of more. 180 seems rather high for the Cobalt considering the LS2 Vette's top speed was 186.

It's mechanically limited: 158 mph is redline in 5th gear, and since it has double over-drive it only hits 120 in 6th at nowhere near redline.

This run for the Cobalt was 8:22. Look at the company it has at that time marker:

8:22 --- BMW M3 E46, 343 PS/1584 kg (sport auto 12/00)

8:22 --- 147.749 km/h -- BMW M Coupe, 321 PS/1445 kg (sport auto 10/98)

8:22 --- 147.749 km/h -- Mercedes-Benz C55 (sport auto07/2004)

8:22.38 147.617 km/h -- Nissan Skyline R32 GT-R (Best Motoring video "Carrera Invasion") http://youtube.com/watch?v=Ua_wcOnPkxk
