Interesting....a Phoenix suburb is looking at using dog poo to create methane to power a light in a pilot program.... I collect plenty of poo in my backyard every week, would be nice to use it for something.

I don't *have* to collect it, but I don't like having in my yard..otherwise, it makes a mess when the yard gets mowed...

Fortunately for me, Malamutes like to use the borders rather than the lawn areas.

They usually use the high grass areas that I only mow once per year.

Works for me.

I think it tends to be big dog = big territory marking, as it all comes back to territory with many animals. The Golden tends to do all his business in the far corners of his yard, where its fine. There is so much yard you actually have to HUNT to find it. OTOH, when he visits the other house, he fills that backyard up in 3 days. Ugh.

My backyard is enclosed w/ a wall, trapazoid shaped, maybe 6000 sq ft (I know the total lot size is about 12k)..some of the dogs don't like pooing in grass, so they only go on the back sidewalk and patio/pool surround areas.. some of them go in the grass. So every Saturday morning before the yard guys show up I go on poo patrol to pick it up..

My dog goes from one backyard, which half is completely fenced for his use at about 225000 sq ft to 750 sq ft at the other house. I'd feel worse if he was still young, as the smaller yard is really to small for him to even get a full run going. But he's 12 now, and don't feel much like running it seems. Prefers a fast walk.

Probably... I have 5 dogs w/ a combined weight of about 55 lbs, so there isn't too much poo. I just have to remember to dump the bag in the brown (trash) barrel and not the blue (recycling) one..

WOW, Just think of the Smell!

So I wonder if they will call it the Poo Lamp! I do have to say it would be a neat way to deal with the waste and get a benefit out of it also. Hope enough people really pay attention and support it.

Couldn't they get enough from everyone's own sewage? It's sort of an interesting idea perhaps, but it could invite a whole other slew of problems with the transportation of this stuff. It sounds particularly unsanitary.
