Alfa Romeo's replacement for the 159, the Giulia has another delay. This time it deals with engines suitable for it are not ready.

"We are not delaying the Alfa because of architecture but because of availability of powertrains that match the DNA of the brand," Fiat/Chrysler CEO Sergio Marchionne told What Car? at the Geneva Motor Show.

This will push back the launch of Giulia back to 2014, two years after the original launch date.

Alfa has not had a very solid reputation for quality. They seem to always have done things in a haphazard way and while they have come up with some very interesting designs for their cars, I have yet to see true quality management, planning and quality of product out of them.

I have to wonder the same if they are being repositioned or even being looked at as more of a niche player.
