California in running for GigaFactory

Featured Replies

It is interesting that Tesla is now in the midst of trying to get the states and tax payers to pay or heavily subsidies the creation of a plant that would make the batteries in the US from North America Sources raw materials.

Full story on how California is working to try and keep Tesla and Musk in the state while Arizona, Nevada, New Mexico and even Texas are all considered sites for the battery plant and the estimated 6500 jobs it would create as the push is on to build 500,000 batteries and cars within 3 years or about 2017 or 2018 depending on when the ground breaks.

Thoughts?

Interesting is this story on the plant building the 500,000 batteries by 2020, but says it would be built with either Panasonic or Samsung.

  • 3 weeks later...

Texas will want them, for sure...

Why shouldn't Telsa go after tax breaks? It's the industry norm.... BMW, Benz, VW.... even GM have all located production facilities in locations based on the tax incentives the localities provide....

or did you think BMW built a plant in Greer, NC for the stunning views....

Again, huge tax breaks in a way just complcate things. Methinks some kind of national flat tax would work best....
