VW News: As the Diesel Emits: Volkswagen, Audi, and Porsche Put A Stop Sale On All Diesel Models In U.S.

Recommended Posts

In light of new allegations put forth by the EPA on Monday, the American branches of Audi, Porsche, and Volkswagen have issued a stop-sale on vehicles equipped with the 3.0L TDI V6. According to Automotive News, this move grounds the sales of not only new TDI models from the Volkswagen group, but also a number of used models equipped with the 3.0L TDI V6.

The EPA announced on Monday that it had found a second 'defeat device' on a number of models using the 3.0L TDI V6. Volkswagen has denied the charges of an another defeat device, but will be cooperating during the investigation.

So what is this second defeat device? Audi of America spokesman Brad Stertz tells AN that the device in question is an “auxiliary emissions control device” that regulates engine functions in a variety of ways. Volkswagen failed to 'properly disclose' this device to the EPA.
