I'll explain what I mean by "homecoming." Never did I think I'd drive my car across the international border between the stare of New York and province of Ontario, with a destination of Toronto. I was a little on edge, given that Toronto has grown so much since I last drove in it. I knew my way around Vancouver fairly well, even with the growth. I wonder if border agents have heard the explanation that, in addition to visiting Toronto, someone wanted to take their car to "see" its "birthplace." Well, being in Toronto means being a little more than 30 minutes from Oshawa, the lauded GM plant at which my car was built. In addition to seeing Toronto, I thought I'd drive it to the GM Oshawa plant and photograph it in front of where final assembly took place. The Oshawa plant isn't as aesthetically appealing as I thought it would be. It was sort of dowdy. There was a Costco nearby, a Greek restaurant I wanted to try but was closed on that day of the week, and housing digs that, based on the throw away magazines, are far from cheap that far out from the big T-O. The car performed very well on the trip. It still had and has not reached 100,000 miles. I believe I nudged 30 mpg on some highway jaunts. I wonder what the mix is between what is 2.5 L4 equipped and what is 3.6 V6 equipped. Glad I put aside part of an afternoon to do this. It's not something I'm likely to repeat. Cheers, eh?

This past Saturday I went to my trusted Buick dealer and purchased a very gently used 2019 LaCrosse with about 4,000 miles. It's an Essence AWD in Red Quartz Metallic and an Ebony interior, with the Bose Centerpoint Surround, Blind Spot Monitoring, Navigation, Lane Keep Assist, Panoramic Sunroof, etc. The dealer held firm on their internet price but the price was honestly really good for an almost-new car. The car is stunning and after driving it, I was sold. It is a damn shame this car is gone from the US. Aside from having the carpeted mats, the dealer gave me ebony Buick all-weather mats. During the test drive I happened to comment I wish it had the sunshade because my early morning commute west, the sun is usually in my eyes from behind. To my surprise, the dealer installed one while they were detailing it and changing the oil. It was a nice treat. The Bose Centerpoint Surround before I experienced it, I thought was just a gimmick; a title/marque. I was completely wrong... when you turn on the Centerpoint Surround, the music shifts almost as though it's being played in the center of the car. Amazing how speakers can "throw" sound and give it such a different effect. For some reason, the "plood" in pictures always looked horrible in my opinion. In person it's a completely different story. I think it's very handsome. If I have to gripe, and it's about the start/stop and the wireless charging. Although the car is seamless to stop, it's noticeable when it starts. In fact, on occasion, there's a slight lurch forward as the engine restarts... not a fan, but I'll obviously cope. As for the wireless charging port, even with my case off, my phone doesn't fit. And although I can squeeze it in tightly, a display on the screen tells me through icons that only cell phones should be placed in there. If only it were a tiny bit bigger...

No car COSTS you more money per segment than a mercedes- higher service cost, higher parts cost, higher depreciation cost (out of pocket) - it's throwing money away in order to try and impress people you'll never talk to or deal with.

While sitting at a light I saw this clean '66 Ford F100 at a gas station..just out of the picture to the left behind a bus stop was a turquoise '66 Mustang convertible and a primered 1950-ish Chevy panel truck. Also saw a clean white w/ white interior '74 Pontiac Grand Ville convertible in traffic, rolling top down on this unseasonable 90 degree afternoon...

Ford sells like 6 times the volume of Transits than mb does in the US; companies have already moved on from the freightliner vans. Then theres the Transit Connect. MB is playing catch up and it’s not working. As far as high mileage goes, A woman drove her ‘64 Merc Comet to about 600,000 and a taxi driver took his early ‘60s Plymouth to 1,600,000 miles.

Those examples can be found at lowly brands like Ford, Chevy, Dodge/Ram, Honda, and Toyota as well. That is nothing that shouldn't be expected with regular maintenance. Is it not obvious that they are going a different direction, pricing it nearly on top of the A Class, nearly identical to the A3, and less than the 2 Series. They are going the route of larger car for the money as the CT4 isn't nearly as small as its similarly priced luxury cars.

Those are stripped-down diesels, though. Normal consumers in the US don't buy those.

The C-class is not $10k better. Spend $41k at Benz and you're getting plastic seats and a rather pathetic 4-cylinder with RWD. Spend that at Cadillac and you're getting a well equipped car with a 2.7 liter that has a lot more power.

I'm a huge fan of the plug-in hybrid design/concept.

I don't mind hybrids done right.... like the Lincoln Aviator. It's really hard to argue with the amount of power that thing puts out and yet still can run in all electric mode up to some speed. But it is also designed to be an isolation machine, taking away as much noise and outside harshness as possible.
