Spotted on July 23 at a gas station: Beautiful 1987 Caprice Classic. The front fender badge indicates a 4.3 liter (Vortec) V6 with TBI. Its driver told me that he had recently purchased it and had less than 45,000 miles! Interesting color combo. Not one most people would think of. Many power accessories. And a really nice, up-level interior (compared to the more staid standard seats that probably came with this model) to keep you comfortable on a long road trip. I took these photos while my car was being fueled. I couldn't pass on this one. Wow.2 points

Some Euro-pop - - - - - British: Criticize it or the genre all you want, but its success says something. - - - - - German: Somewhat otherworldly. - - - - - It's weird how they don't sound too, too foreign (to a North American ear) when they are singing, but they do when they speak.2 points

AMG better have some serious performance in the works, and not just on EQS, but even more so on EQE that will be the more performance oriented sedan. It's possible that no one can beat Tesla performance, so Mercedes or anyone else will have to beat them in other ways. Mercedes plans to convert the whole line to EV, not every Mercedes is an AMG speed demon, only like 10-15% are AMG, the bulk of their customers are coming for luxury first. The AMG cars are the ones that will have to match Tesla's performance.2 points

Those haven't been "displacement" badges in a decade; s550 has been an 's470' since 2012. So they haven't meant anything in a while, and they mean even less going forward. It's not that much larger, but it's a half ton fatter...2 points

I was there. I marked it on my calendar. Easily on the Top 10 list of the coolest things I've seen in my life. And thousands of people lining both sides of the bay (in summer clothing on this February day) watching and cheering seemed to agree with me. This was almost 15 years ago ...1 point

There is going to be an AMG version, and EQS is a much bigger car than the Model S. EQE will have an AMG version and I would suspect be a stronger performance, much like how an E63 is faster than an S63 because same powertrain and big weight/size difference between them. It is quite possible too that nothing will beat the Model S Plaid in a straight line, a $700,000 Ferrari ST90 Stradale can't even beat it in a quarter mile. I mean AMG One will surely beat the Plaid, but I don't see any other sedans or even sub $1 million sports cars doing it.1 point

They don't mean anything. They make an S450 and S580, so it was just easier to call the EQS 450 and 580. Essentially the 450 is the inline six equivalent and the 580 is the V8 performance equivalent. Although I thought 580 was always dumb, I don't know why they didn't just stay with 550 or even 560 since that was a displacement badge of their past.1 point

Was unable to take a picture, but saw a California Special Edition red Mustang late 60's getting off the freeway today. Looked very much like this one I found on Bing Images. Other thing I noticed was a Chevrolet Suburban with Cadillac taillights. Seems to be a trend lately as I also snapped a pic of a GMC that had them too.1 point

I had to take one anyway I could photograph one. This one also had a horrible aftermarket hood ornament. I just thought it was timely since we had been discussing Sevilles within the last few days. I looked at the first-gens on line and it confirmed how much I liked them. I just wish I knew photoshop to play with the roofline, the rear taillamps, and a few minor things. I thought the first-gen dashboard was interesting. It was a mixture of clean and a little too driver focused at the expense of the front seat passenger. The climate controls are to the left of the steering wheel. Other controls are not centered and favor the driver. Still, I liked the zoned, blockier volumes of Cadillac dashboards in those years and that they were starting to inset warning lamps and gauges into the upper part of the cowl. What a success story and how quickly the consuming public bought into the "baby Cadillac," as it was called. Really nice seating set-up for a Cadillac of those years. Maybe switch out the leather for cloth. I'd be perfectly happy to have this as a daily driver.1 point

That is an excellent question. Seems there web site is useless as it does not cover what the names mean and there seems to be no relation of the number to Torque or HP. 2022 EQS Sedan | Future Vehicles | Mercedes-Benz USA (mbusa.com) I have looked through many websites and still no info on what the names mean. I did get from this story that the 450+ which is what America gets means the + is the larger battery pack, but we only get the largest battery pack, where in Europe and the Asian rim they can get a smaller 90 kW battery pack. So they will have a 450 or 450+ models. We just get 450+. 2022 Mercedes-Benz EQS First Drive Review: Funky New Luxury (motor1.com) Even on their global web site there is no clear answer as to what the numbers mean on any of their EQ products. The new all-electric EQS. (mercedes-benz.com) Even the Daimler web site FAILS to explain what the numbers mean. The EQS: The first electric vehicle in the luxury class | Daimler Sorry, wish I knew. @smk4565 Do you have an actual link to explain what the EQS 450 and 580 mean?1 point

Some kind of aftermarket package- there's chrome 'straps' on the deck, big grille topper and that halo vinyl top isn't factory (tho it looks nice). I can still picture this: was over an acquaintances house once after school, walked across the lawn; their driveway was 'cut into' the terrain, so when you walked up to toward the driveway your feet would be about 2 feet higher than the driveway. There was a brand new Seville, all red metallic, and it had the thicker brushed Elegante' sweepspear down the side. From above, in profile, it looked amazing.1 point
