Happy Canadian Thanksgiving to our members north of the border (we're so used to hearing "south of the border") and those who want to celebrate this day with them. For the Canadians, I believe it's an annual celebration of the harvest more so than commemorating the symbolic arrival of the pilgrims to Plymouth Rock in Massachusetts. Happy Thanksgiving!2 points

I was watching that. It was pretty good. I enjoyed it. Was sad that it wasnt continued. Kinda like in the 1980s... Discontinued abruptly. At least in the original 80s version, there was a 2nd or 3rd season but ended shortly thereafter when that hybrid baby came along. It grew up (fast) I remember as a pre-teen or teen but then the show was canceled... Something like that. The reboot didnt last a season. I enjoyed the two part made for TV movie that spawn the TV series the most. I remember enjoying the 1st season a lot but then the subsequent stories and seasons (those were off and on again as well before being canned for good) were cheesiest. I mean, the whole V thing was cheesy, but it was good cheese. The last episodes of V were not as good is what Im trying to say. The reboot was not cheesy at all. If I rememer correctly, it followed the story beats of the original, but were nicely acted. It was a more grounded production. An interesting outlook on it, the movie Independance Day starring Will Smith in 1996 was EXACTLY the TV movie V for the first 40 or so minutes. The way the ships come into the Earth's atmosphere. The way the ships line up on top of chosen Earth cities. Is all the same. Up until the White House was blown up. In the TV series V, the aliens come down to earth to introduce themselves while sneakily disguising their intentions and their actual reptilian appearance. The movie Independance Day, we get to know the true intentions of the aliens when they destroy the chosen locations. And this is where the two movies separate.1 point

This should be interesting. https://www.utilitydive.com/news/evs-reach-86-percent-global-vehicle-sales-2030/695324/ This is also interesting I feel: A big EV purchase decision that's not about the car model you buy (cnbc.com)1 point

There was V reboot series about 10 years ago, don't know if it was any good. I remember regularly watching Magnum P.I., Simon & Simon, Hunter, Miami Vice, Sledge Hammer!, Police Squad, MacGuyver, A-Team, Dukes of Hazzard, The Fall Guy, TJ Hooker, Cheers, and Dallas growing up in the 80s. And starting back in the 70s--M*A*S*H*, ChiPs, Dallas and the Rockford Files. During the '88-97 period I didn't watch a lot of TV--was busy w/ college and grad school--but I did enjoy Twin Peaks, The X-Files, and my intellectual guilty pleasure--Beavis and Butthead. I love this montage I found on YouTube of 1980s music, movies and tv set to a popular '80s pop song..1 point

Knight Rider, A-Team, Dukes of Hazzard, Hart to Hart, MacGyver, Magnum P.I., Miami Vice and LOVED V were the only shows I watched. WOW, Talk about a walk down memory lane. Would love a modern CGI version of V as that would just rock.1 point

Me too. Especially for GM and Ford. I think its a 'no shyte Sherlock' decision to have an Amercian driver. I am expecting American drivers. Im also wanting them to be beasts and therefore worlds best to kick some Eurotrash ass. And If you look at Corvette Racing, there was always at least one American driver on the team so not only feasible to have a world beater American driver, but expected as the Corvette Team HAS had MANY Americans driving and winning. OK...quickly on top of my head, Garcia, Gavin and Magnussen were NOT American, and Fellows as a Canadian, WERE the cream of the top and gave Corvettes the checkered flag, but with the same breath, O'Connel, Taylor and Milner, 'Mericans, were just as great as the other guys I mentioned. So yeah...COOL. Too bad Jacques Villeneuve maybe to old to drive for Cadillac. Then I would have REALLY been excited. Im sure Andretti Racing will assemble a great racing team regarding pilots. American or otherwise.1 point

Hahaha Datsun works! Uhhhh I'd say none of it at first, Ultium. Until they take over the power unit from Alpine(Datsun!), there won't be any Ultium in there. Once, or if, they take the power unit control in-house, then it'd be an Ultium powered unit. The reason, at least how I see it, is because Alpine will still making their own power unit for their own cars. They won't want one power unit they're producing to have their electrical system and then one to have a GM electrical system. That would add unnecessary complexity to the R&D of the all-new power unit and it would likely make both units worse because there is a cost cap for the teams and this would, undoubtedly, increase the spending. After trying to look into the cost cap regulations, the engine cost cap are different and I can't find the specific regulations regarding how the engines cost against the cap. " What comes under the F1 cost cap? Any expenditure related to car – but not engines – performance is relevant for the cost cap. This includes: All parts on the car (from the steering wheel to the wheel nuts) All the elements needed to run the car Most of the team personnel Garage equipment Spares Transport costs Everything in between The biggest area of focus is car development costs, with teams having a weigh up what is developed, how much is spent on each part which is manufactured and how many of the parts are needed and can be afforded without overspending. What doesn’t come under the F1 cost cap? There are several big-ticket things that aren’t covered by the cost cap, including: Driver salaries The wages of the three highest-paid staff members Travel costs Marketing spend Property and legal costs Entry and licence fees Any non-F1 or road car activities Parental and sick leave payments Employee bonuses and staff medical benefits Engines – which are more complex because some teams make their own while others buy them – are covered by their own set of cost regulations." https://us.motorsport.com/f1/news/f1-cost-cap-what-is-it-how-it-works/10379800/1 point

@oldshurst442, They did it! Andretti got approval from the FIA for their F1 GM/Cadillac team. https://www.espn.com/f1/story/_/id/38548308/andretti-wins-fia-approval-bid-enter-f1-11th-team As I've mentioned before, I'm not stoked AT ALL about them using a Nissan power unit but, if that's what's necessary to get their foot in the door, then so be it.1 point

See more and more stories on the upcoming Chevrolet EV Pickup, I hope @Drew Dowdell can get his hands on a week testing of the truck for a full review. That would be so cool. Here's Why The Chevrolet Silverado EV Is A Gamechanger (topspeed.com)1 point

I've never been to Long Island (except in JFK airport changing planes when crossing the pond), but my maternal grandmother (who was estranged from my mother) lived in Port Washington, NY on Long Island the last 30 or so years of her life (she passed in 1980). And coincidentally, my family farm was outside of Port Washington, Ohio..1 point

If I was homeless and not living in California, Id find myself a way to GET to California. No better place, weather wise, to be homeless than in California. Make the best out of a very dire situation. Need to take a bath? The Pacific is just right there. Salt water is better than no water. Need to go to the bathroom? The Pacific is just right there. Salt water is better than no toilet paper And the benefit with that is that salt water actually cleanses the pee pee and the bum bum just right. No need to worry about inclimate weather in the extreme cold category. The sun during the summer might be unbearable, but there are trees around for shade I presume. During the rainy season, THAT would be not good, and in some parts of LA there are mud slides, so there is that. But places like Mawn-treeawl or Deee-troy-it, rain and mud is infinitely better than frost bitten winds and snow and ice for half a year. I have compiled lots of words to say so little about a very sad reality. Not funny, but I am being serious. Greetings from Montreal, just a few miles away to the North. Cheers to ya with a Long Island iced Tea!1 point
