It's unreal that I have family in California, North Carolina, and Florida. All three sets of family have been heavily impacted by this crap. To end on a happy note, some 5.0 Mustang content in honor of one of our members here....and because I like Mustangs.3 points

My son took a driving test in the middle of the day, had to use his headlights for the test when this happened. Human stupidity is epic.1 point

Yes, Canada also did the stupid thing of allowing tree planting way to close together to maximize tree output and yet the climate change has then ended up killing large sections of the trees, ending in very terrible forest fires as I remember 2019 and all the ash coming down from Canada over Washington.1 point

You see the same thing with lumber farms in Oregon, David. Trees planted way to close together, use up all of the available water, and create a huge fire hazard when one starts. With global warming, a day of reckoning is coming, and it won't be nice.1 point

As green as I try to be, there is one thing I disagree with on the side of state/county/city government and that is the let them build 6 ft apart building. Building wall to the property line of 3ft and then another 3ft to the wall of the next dwelling. This close building is also a cause and fault of the politicians who favor more property tax over safety and space. As such, the density has allowed these fires to destroy whole sections of LA and it is not over yet. I have plenty of family impacted in the greater LA area with some having lost their homes. Elon and Bezos are obsessed w/ space exploration and getting to Mars, maybe we need to send Trump, Elon, Bezos, etc on a one-way mission to colonize on the Sun...that would probably go well.1 point

Yes, as to why after so many decades, I have left GM. Honda news out of Japan, unstated internal sources state that Honda is excited to get Nissan Off-road capable SUV and Trucks to build as Honda products for the global market. Not sure if that is a good thing or not, but Honda does have a better reliability than Nissan and if they can do to Nissan SUV/Trucks body on Frame what they did for their GM Ultium EV than it could work for them.1 point

I stumbled upon a small meetup this weekend. There's a new custom/restoration shop about two blocks from my home and I was walking to a Casey's to grab a cake donut for my wife (hahaha) and this is right next to the Casey's. This grey Chevelle was perfect, absolutely perfect. The plate is the name of the shop, Xtreme (restoration, bodywork, modification). I'm sure this is their show piece, and what a piece of work/art it is! I believe the van is theirs as well. Later that day we ran to Aldi and came across the International Scout. it was far from mint condition, but it was "pretty good" but even cooler to see it just out and about.1 point

The classic car carnage is apparently sadly rather high from these fires. Southern California has such an active automotive scene, I hate to think of what is lost. Olds Toranado content warnong for Drew...0 points

I see it being more like VW trying to market Chrysler minivans. Monkeys fornicating with footballs. Again pigskin deserves better, just like car buyers. As much as I bitch endlessly about the government, I absolutely love living in Ohio. I think Columbus and Salt Lake City area are the two places in the US I could really enjoy living. Tucson might be a third, but not Phoenix. Wildfires in California have been catastrophic... We are incapable of learning as a species, especially as Americans it would seem. Unreal. My aunt lives in LA and lost count the other day....over 100 fire trucks past her house down her street. She and my uncle have lived there since 1973, 51 years of living in the same house will probably go up in smoke as wildfires keep getting closer.0 points
