    OSCARS!!!!

See, I think all humans experience the same emotions, the causes are just different. No are any easier to deal with because what is devastating for one is no big deal for another.

    OSCARS!!!!

Sitcoms are fluff by their very nature. If it were made for girls with gay acquaintances, then it was made for 80+% of women. Unfortunately for your argument, every gay male I know LOVES that show. Granted, that's anecdotal, but it isn't quite the disdain you are showing. Fine, I'll let it drop if you're going to. But "old married couple"? That's just wishful thinking on your part. :AH-HA_wink:

    OSCARS!!!!

Will & Grace was a series, on every week, over 7 years. It made a huge impact because it was recurring and not just in select theatres for a month or two. Yes, ocn...the gay community was just up in arms about how sanitized Will and Grace was. They boycotted that show because they portrayed Will and Jack kissing on "Live TV" as well as having two gay characters who were not just there to be the brunt of homophobic jokes. Puhlease. We both know that was NOT the reaction that occurred. Honestly? I think W&G did more for the gay community because it was just an everyday sitcom where the characters happened to be gay and there was nothing wrong with it. With BBM, once again it's just a BIG DEAL that they are gay. Its main selling point is that the characters are gay. The story even has some problems with it...but remember the characters are gay and the scenery is great so it must win all of its awards.

I never claimed to know you, though you ARE the one talking about getting validated through Hollywood. Sorry, but the good person you know yourself to be and the good things you do on a daily basis should be validating enough... Frankly, I think Will & Grace broke more ground than Brokeback. Oh, and W&G was 7 years ago.

    OSCARS!!!!

No, I think you're reading WAY too much into it. By your logic, the validation should have come with the LAST awards show. Seriously...I wouldn't call Brokeback a phenomenon simply because it hasn't achieved mega Box Office success. I don't think it's any more of a phenomenon than Boys Don't Cry or any of those other movies were. Symbolic? Sure. But I wouldn't overhype it. Seriously...if you need a particular movie at a Hollywood awards show to win all the awards it was nominated for personal validation, I think you might want to talk to a therapist. I'm not saying that to be mean, but because I think it could really help you.
  7. Second the motion.

    OSCARS!!!!

See, that's silly to look at an awards show for validation. Why should Hollywood be the source of validation to people? People need to find some self-esteem and be happy with who they are and confident instead of always looking for outside sources of validation...the world would be better off abd people would ultimately be happier.
  9. Well, it is a little. But I think it works and looks good. Kinda like how some people wear their weight VERY well?

    OSCARS!!!!

Felicity Huffman deserves to win...she is an amazing and versatile actress. My prediction: John Stewart is going to rock the house.
  17. oooooooooo I've seen Bueller three times!! OK Everyone I know has seen Uncle Buck but I...this is so not fair.
  18. Firstly, I didn't categorize you, merely called you out on some pretty obvious bias, nor did I ever claim to know you. Now, OC, let's be honest. You go off on GM when their build quality is subpar. I do too. Part of not being biased though is having the self-awareness to know that you (and I for that matter) are some of the harshest critics of the General on this board. Now, I was giving Toyota the benefit of the doubt until I got more information from Northie, but that is some pretty inexcusable stuff from the new Camry, autoshow or not. You're making excuses for the Camry when you would not make those same excuses for GM. You're also denying the existence of bias when it is pretty obvious for everyone to see. So you're biased toward the Camry, big deal, but be honest about it. I'm biased toward the Mercury brand, Cadillac and Subaru. I'm biased against Mercedes-Benz, Toyota (though I do like the Prius and new Camry save build issues) and Lexus. It's out in the open and I'm not going to deny it. You're pretty picky about tactile feel of switchgear and knobs as well as interior plastic. I just find it amazing you can give a Camry a pass at interior panels that just pull off. Regarding auto show cars, AH-HA seems to have no problem using them to test quality: http://ah-ha.squarespace.com/display/ShowP...galleryId=23335
  19. Yea, we passed the "HEY LOOK AT MY PICS AND COMMENT!!" milestone quite some time ago.The only way it could get worse are if regular topics got started saying: OH NO PLEASE READ!!!!!!!! Due to rising server costs Walt is shutting down C&G unless you reply to this thread NOW and pass it on to all of your friends. If we don't get everyone on here the site will shut down!! PLEASE DO THIS IT IS FOR REAL!! NOT A HOAX!!!!!!!
  20. "You see, Jeremy, it's a really long and complicated story involving a forklift, some newspapers and a jar of applesauce...hey who wants some scotch?"
  21. no $h!.
  22. derr, Tahoe. Suburbans aren't out yet, and GMC doesn't make an LTZ.
  23. Oh, you will have the same problem with DirecTV then, though maybe to a lesser degree. Satellites lose reception for a short while whenever weather gets bad.I'd look at digital cable since T-storm reception is your problem.
  24. I agree. I think Buick needs a Fullsized RWD sedan and a RWD coupe/convertible. I would love to see this be Invicta (2000 LaCrosse concept-based) and Riviera (Velite-based). Buick is getting the Enclave. I think Buick needs to have something smaller than Enclave as well. I honestly would not have problems with a Kappa either. Invicta Riviera LaCrosse (needs new name for move to Ep-II) Enclave sub-Enclave (Kappa?) That's pretty full-line even without the Kappa.
  25. Myspace is a site www.myspace.com You become a member, make a profile, have a blog, etc...the vast majority are by people 12-30 and have LOTS of pictures. You can "friend" people and create like a little network. You can also bitch about your life on the blog, or conversely, brag about how amazing your life is. Whenever you post pictures, people can have the option of leaving comments. The most common comment is: "OMG!! YOU ARE SOOOOO ~*SeXy*~ LOVE YA BABY!!" or "OMG WE GOT SOOOOO DRUNK THAT NIGHT HAHA LOL" --- Myspace seems to be the unofficial home for emo. I generally live by the line "DO NOT FEED THE ATTENTION WHORES" so that would explain my general distaste for most myspace profiles.
