Nitro review Car&Driver: I guess people just repeating how bad Chrysler interiors are, is becoming one of those myths like the Loch Ness Monster and Toyota's superior "quality?". The RAV4 and CR-V look just as crappy (if not more) and plastic to me: RAV4 CR-V

The Commander sold 88,497 units last year.....and was a complete failure (in haters' eyes). The Honda Ridgeline sold like 60,000 units, and was the greatest thing since sliced bread. The Commander is built on the same platform and line as the Grand Cherokee, and together they sold 227,645. They definitely got more people to buy Jeeps, with little additional investment.

Dodge= 5 SRT's (6 if you count both Viper variations!) Chrysler= 2 SRT's Jeep= 1 SRT
-
One's a Dodge wagon, the other is a Chrysler sedan. The Compass and Patriot are both Jeep Cute-Utes.
-
:rotflmao: In 1991 the Jeep Wrangler's I6 was bumped to 180 HP......up from 112 HP. In the 80's and 90's, the Jeep Wrangler was considered (and obviously still is) one of the top off-roaders......even with 112 HP. Off-roading is all about torque and gearing. The Patriot has 165 ft/lbs of torque, and an optional special CVT for low range gearing.
-
Both vehicles were dead evenly split in focus groups.......and like it or not, your opinion does not matter anywhere near as much as focus groups of actual dumb consumers. Why would you expect it to get a different interior? They are two vehicles that kind of compete with each other. One is kinda wimpy for girls and old people, and the other is more macho for people that might actually go off-road. Different (from each other) interiors would not make one bit of difference in consumers minds who are considering either of these vehicles. If the Compass fails, or just sells slowly, they can just make more Calibers and Patriots.....if the Compass does catch on, well, they'll have to make more of each. Did you read the review?? There was no mention of the vehicle being pathetic. In fact, they claim that Jeep raised the bar for small SUV's.
-
Well, they both came out as concepts in 2002, and I liked the Razor's looks better, but not by much. And look how cool the Solstice came out when it was produced. The Dodge would have/will have the better powertrain....300 (+?) HP. If you think any 300 HP small roadster is ugly, you are not a true car enthusiast!!
-
Man, everyone is a frilly little interior snob these days. The review said the interior was fine until they started rapping on the dash board. WHO IN THE HELL BEATS ON THEIR OWN, OR OTHER PEOPLES' DASH BAORDS?? In fact, they said the seats were some of the best they've experienced in an SUV. Why is everyone so obsessed with the Compass and Patriot having the same interior? They are basically the same vehicle, with different sheetmetal, and suspension. They are both Jeeps. The Caliber is quite different except for the center stack trim cover.

The people that think the Razor was "ugly" are on crack! It's just your blind hatred for Chrysler getting in the way. It was going to be a small lightweight roadster with the SRT-4's 250+ HP powertrain. It would have been crazy fast. If it will now carry the current SRT-4 powertain.....it will have 300 HP!!! It would only need a slight bit of tweaking to look modern today:

(2 liter soda) I think that's about it!

Looks like a V8 to me:

Almost looks as big as a Pacifica. I guess the news of the demise of the Pacifica isn't all that significant now.....as long as the Chrysler version gets an interior pretty close to the quality of the one in the current Pacifica. This looks too big, and maybe too expensive, to be a direct PT Cruiser replacement?

All that money, and his wife/ or girlfriend can't afford a bra.......or better yet, a boob job?

Toyota can price anything at a "competitive price". They make billions of dollars of profit EVERY quarter. They can lose money on every Tundra sale, just to get into the market, and would easily still make billions of profit every quarter. Toyota has been charging more then they need to charge, just so they don't catch a bunch of crap from the Big 3 for uncompetitive (cheaper than the Big 3) pricing. And to make their pricing appear to be equal, they will charge the same as the Big 3 does for comparable models, but they will add a ton more "standard options" to blow away the Big 3 in content. It all goes back to the Asian/Japanese unfair competitive advantage that Toyota enjoys.

If you like the Patriot, then just stop bitching about the Compass. Admire Chrysler's flex-assembly abilities, and let young women buy Compasses. Or, just wait till they release the 300HP Rallye/SRT-4 edition, and Jeep will have one badass WRC style car......then you guys can only complain how ugly it is, and how "cheap" the interior is....but not how slow it is.:

Yeah, what a horrible idea to expand the brand:

The engine already exists with those HP numbers as a crate engine: http://www.allpar.com/mopar/hemi/392-crate.html

There has been a lot of speculation and rumors the past year or two as to what would be the next SRT8 engine. From 6.4 to 6.7 to 7.0 and a few other "liters". There was also talk of the "392" only being available as a crate motor. I was told a couple years ago at the SEMA show that the "392" would ONLY be referred to as a "392" and NOT a "6.4", but recent documents list it as "6.4"... maybe they will still call it a "392" for the Challenger, who knows. Well, the next SRT8 engine WILL be a 6.4L SMPI engine with specs similar to the 392, more than 500 HP with similar numbers for torque. The new engine will debut in the SRT8 version of the Challenger, rumored for the 2009 model year. As probably expected, the engine will also make its way to other SRT8 models. What I was surprised to find out was that it appears that it will be used in some current generation vehicles, I figured that they would have waited for a generation change. Here is the list of vehicles scheduled so far for the new 6.4: 2009 300C (LX) 2009 Charger (LX) 2009 Grand Cherokee (WK) 2009 Challenger (LC) 2009 Viper platform vehicle (ZC) It is *possible* that the 6.4L could be held until the 2010 model year for some of the vehicles, I have not been able to find solid evidence of the exact model year for each application. I have not listed the Magnum per rumors that 2008 would be its last year, although I have not seen any concrete evidence yet that the Magnum is going away. With the 2008 refresh and this new engine maybe a 2009 SRT8 models is not out of the works. From "oh2o" from Allpar.com : http://www.allpar.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=87645

There are a ton of Commanders on the road in the Detroit area. I think they look pretty sweet, but don't really offer anything more than the Grand Cherokee. The 3rd row is just for kids, and they would probably even complain after a few miles. They will probably make the Grand Cherokee larger, due to the Liberty growing in size to be the main two row Jeep. The next GC will probably have three real rows. Probably not the best for off-roading purposes, but better for sales. Besides, how many people take a $30K+ SUV off-roading?

Honda and Acura vehicles said to overstate mileage by up to 4%
BrewSwillis replied to BrewSwillis's topic in Honda
It looks like 4% is quite high: They are still cheating you. If they claim that you can drive 10,400 miles on your lease, you may actually only be able to drive 10,000 miles......with your odometer reading 10,400 miles. I don't see how you can't see that as cheating you? -

That's why I said three cars. I don't think a car's odometer should be off almost a half a mile, every 10 miles. 1440 miles over their lease limit is $288.00 (using $0.20 per mile). They are potentially ripping all of their lease customers off at almost $300 a pop. -

Take 2 or 3 different cars the same distance and compare odometer readings? -
Honda and Acura vehicles said to overstate mileage by up to 4%
BrewSwillis replied to BrewSwillis's topic in Honda
People....people......it's the car not calculating mileage accurately. The odometer says they've gone 104 miles when they've really only gone 100 miles. That really adds up after a while. Maybe they've been doing this for many years, and that's why people think Japanese cars last so long? What's sad is the terms that the lawsuit agrees to. The lawsuit agree to terms that Honda just has to make up only 1% more on the mileage disparity. I would be pissed, and not agree to those weak terms just so some sleazy lawyer can make a ton of money.
