2015 GMC Canyon Build & Price Site Now Live
G. David Felt replied to GMTruckGuy74's topic in GMC Trucks
BUT BUT BUT, If GM had really looked at the market, they should have built a Mini Pickup instead that started in the teens and ended in the low to mid 30's for a Mini Pickup Crew Cab Fully loaded. This would have given a nice family line of trucks for people to buy. Instead they almost just extended the full size truck line with these. I really think Marketing and GM Mgmt missed the boat big time. If Ford ignores the stupid mid size truck market, brings back the Ranger Mini Pickup in Regular, King and Crew cab configurations starting off around 15-18K and topping out at 32-35K they will have a much better spread to address customer needs and especially those living in cities where a mid size or full size is way too big to own and park. -
Any and all new auto pics and info is greatly appreciated. Have fun Drew!

Wow talk about a joke of a report. Yes they highlight a couple things but it does seem to just give lip service to the real lack of this department being current and modern and doing their job. Course everyone in DC wants a scapegoat but protect everyone's job without really serving the public. Such a shame.

I agree with you here that it is a good blue print for GM to have used. Hopefully Ford will think this better and bring back the Ranger to compliment the F series pickups. -

GMC to me is the better looking of the twin trucks, but I still think GM missed the gold mine by not building these new trucks as Mini Pickups with a starting price of 16 to 18K for a Standard cab model and topping out around 32K. -
You need to read the fine print, this is 376 models covering 2011 to 2013 model years, that is more than a few hundred cars.

If it was old GM, the stop sales would have been never even issued. Come on, don't contradict yourself in one post. The good thing is they are being caught before reaching the public and even more before having an accident. Mistakes happen, on one is perfect. Oh nevermind, Mercedes S-Class is more perfect than GOD. WOW, 376 different Vehicles being recalled. 218 different recalls on SUV's due to failing to conform to the FMVSS #108. Second recall is for 158 different recalls for failing to FVMSS #138. So this is what perfection is under GOD!

Learning The Dark Arts Of Driving A Manual Transmission

Z I am surprised as I find Honda Stick totally lacking in any excitement or driving pleasure. They are just bland nothing there. This could also be due to me always driving manual trucks.- 30 replies

They should have gone with a Mini Pickup and not a Mid Size Pickup. Could have done better. Should have done better. I would like the Marketing Idiots to show me that customers are wanting mid size pickups priced the same as Full Size Pickups and that there is no demand for Mini Pickups. -
Gotta Love California and all the car culture you can find just walking down the sidewalk.

I have to agree that this is just a mule testing the underpinnings of the new design language otherwise a Big deal as they did this and everyone has been there before. Too early to really tell just what is going to happen. -
Learning The Dark Arts Of Driving A Manual Transmission
G. David Felt replied to William Maley's topic in Opinion
Awesome to read how you overcame your fear of the Manual and now can drive anything. Way to Go Bill! While using a manual exclusively for teaching people to drive a manual will shorten the life a bit of the clutch, over all they are beefy enough transmissions to handle it and still give an outstanding experience. Manuals are fun to drive. Be interesting to see how much longer they stick around since Auto's are stronger and get better gas mileage now in most cases.- 30 replies

Before you rant about GM getting anything right, take your MB love affair and make them get their house in order as they are building some terrible quality products in their own right. Also, the story on Car and Driver shows that metal from the oil filter seemed to get into the engine. I would not say this was due to a bad engine but yes they do say that GM has had a couple other engines blow up. Not much different than all the MB or BMW engines that have blown up. A friend of mine has had his AMG in the shop more often than he has driven it and this was after trading in his M3 due to the same issue thinking he would get a better car by going to MB. Seems they have just as many poor builds and a wait time for the hand built items to get here from Germany.

Interesting, good to see GM take care of this immediatly, sad that at the start of the 2015 production this had to happen. What idiot did not do their job right needs to be fired.

Saw this story on MSN Auto's this morning. Most Improved cars of the last 10 years. Pretty interesting. http://editorial.autos.msn.com/most-improved-cars-of-the-last-10-years?icid=autos_5852#1 MSN Auto's list the top 3 as follows: Chrsyler 200 Kia Rio Kia Optima This is followed by Hyundia Accent Jeep Grand Cherokee Chevrolet Cruze Chevrolet Impala Dodge Dart Chevrolet Colorado Cadillac CTS Aston Martin Vanquish Tesla Model S Honda Civic Nissan Altima Chevrolet Camero So what do you think are the most improved auto's of the last 10 years?

Dealers are stupid if they try to go above the MSRP. Dodge is doing this right. give them to the dealers who will sell them as is and turn the inventory. I loved the Chevy SSR Pickup last year but still did not buy one due to stupid dealers marking them up 10-15K above the MSRP. Course glad they were idiots as I have an awesome Trailblazer SS that only had 24K miles on it when I bought it after being out for 4 years in the hands of a lady who pretty much took care of it. Paid 24K. So I am very happy. But this does show a problem with the dealers who try to mark up the hardware way too much. Just cause people have higher incomes in some areas does not mean they will pay above MSRP.
