  1. LOL. Oh...trust me, I tried! I tried teaching them how to spell this way. "Gimme me an R ! (r) O! (o) C! (c) K! (k)...." But they never wanted to take to it. Seriously speaking, I tried making them listen to the classics from the 50s and 80s but my daughter just does not have an interest in music all that much. She will listen to what her peers listen to, which are "artists" and "singers" from today. She does have some interest in music, but it ends there. My son, he likes 50s rock. Bill Hailey. The Big Bopper. Several Doo Wop songs. But 80s rock...he wont touch it as his peers deem that era not cool. There are a couple of his friends who's daddy's succeeded in winning their kid's hearts to 80s music. But I failed...
  2. Oh...yes they are. Some are. Some are not. But...tell you one thing. Even with today's cleaner cars, leave your car running in a closed environment and see how you fair and then come and tell me that emission laws are overboard. Catalytic converters and technology have come a long way since the 1970s. When push comes to shove...automakers WILL find a solution. When left alone....chaos ensues. Hell, chaos ensues when there are rules. A famous saying in NASCAR ...Tom Petty...oops..Richard Petty, (RIP TOM)...said if you aint cheatin', you aint tryin' THIS is regarding rules and regulations when in place and anarchy STILL ensues. When no laws and regulations exist, all hell breaks loose. And this is the kind of mind set that Detroit...and Wolfsburg go by. Not a good thing for you and me, buddy.
  3. I agree with the first paragraph. I suppose its true with the 2nd paragraph. Let me correct myself. I know it to be true. I just do not want to agree with it in principle.
  4. Im sure Fabio and Nunzio say the same thing about Ford. You know. Ford cars like a Ka or a Kuga. Or a S-Max.
  5. Not a monopoly, no. But this is why I do NOT want to see a US flag waving affair regarding this movie. I get that its a movie and not a documentary. I get that its Hollywood and the storytelling has to be...um...nice and presentable and watchable....to make...money so it has to please the um...targeted demographic... But flagrant lies are less than enjoyable to me when its "based on a true story". Fantasy stories like Captain America this is not. Enzo and Shelby and Ford and all the other real people involved are...in fact real people and the facts should NOT be skewed. Time lines and the order of when things happened and maybe certain events could eliminated or enhanced...that is good. But flagrant lies. Not so much. And that is all I ask of the movie. No flagrant lies and egregious flag waving...
  6. BTW. I had to google the definition of Apocryphal. Today is a good day. I learned a new word today. And its a big word. Im proud of myself. Thanx Bob.
  7. This is today, when Ferrari is peddling all kinds of products from toilet paper to dildos... Not back in the 1960s, and hence the merger with...Ford.
  8. Could very well be! I just want a movie that does not BS me with American flag waving. I could live with some of it in some movies. But Ferrari is just as much Italian pride as Ford is American pride... And then there is the British in all of this. The Ford GT40 was a British Lola car and both American car guys and British car guys helped it become what it became.
  9. Enzo Ferrari. He is all about the racing. We all know that. His passion. Racing. Ferrari the company. A small company. FoMoCo. Big multi national corporation. We could all safely assume, they discussed the details with the lawyers present. We could also safely assume, that Enzo, all he probably wanted was control of the racing. He probably stated that several times. Now...at that meeting when it was time to sign. We do not know what was written in those contracts, but to have old Man Ferrari just walk out displeased like he was...well... What was written in those contracts that pissed that old Italian guy off to just walk away? And we all know as the legendary story goes that Ford Jr. wanted to crush Ferrari in...building muscle cars? Nope! In out doing Ferrari by one-upping them all the time in tree stumping full sized pick-up trucks and SUVs? Nope! By beating them in...racing at LeMans...at their own game? So...was it that Ford's team of lawyers that tried to pull one over Enzo's eyes about which company really controlled the racing projects? You see...I wanna know what REALLY went down in that meeting and who tried to screw who over... It happens still today. The whole Marvel Comics/Disney/Sony debacle with Andrew Garfield and Tom Holland and The MCU universe and the rights to what and bigger sharing in the profits while who finances what and what characters will play in what movies and poor old Stan Lee gets hosed and now he is dead. May he rest in peace!!! But yeah!!! America. Phoque Yeah! That old Italian Guinea WOP. Phoque Him because...well...we Americans NEVER screw ANYBODY over....and well...GT40 and 1-2-3 at LeMans and yeah. Bald Eagles everywhere!!!
  10. There is always 3 sides to a story. Im just assuming that the version we always hear about is biased towards America feeling great about herself. Example: The Iran Hostage crisis in 1979. In some American media, Canada's involvement is almost never mentioned or if mentioned, very subdued to what extent Canada was involved in. Especially in the movie. The movie 42. Jackie Robinson. Montreal was just casually mentioned that Jackie could go back to Montreal because some players did not want him there. But in reality, Brooklyn's triple A team, the Montreal Royals, played a bigger part for Jackie Robinson in being the first black player in the Majors than what American media and movies want to portray. Not a documentary... Like Hollywood gets history correct... And yeah...publications are all about advert money... Road And Track chose a Hyundai as their sports car machine oif the year...over a Corvette mid engine.... yeah...because the Corvette did not advance the performance envelope enough. Especially at 60 000 US dollars...
  11. That is the bottom line. I just speak for myself.
  12. I wont see it in the movie theatres, but I will buy the DVD/Blu Ray in about 6 months from now when it comes out. I just hope its an accurate interpretation of what transpired and not some American "Phoque YEAH!!!" flag waving baloney... I love Ferrari. Old man Ferrari was an @ssh073. Shrewd shrewd business man nad even harder personality. But FoMoCo ran its business the same way. By that time Henry was out of the picture (and we all know Enzo and Henry probably had the same character traits) but FoMoCo was still just as a hard company to do business with also. I love Ford. I LOVE the Ford GT40 and the legend of it all. But I dont want the story to be all Ford heroics (with little British recognition) and pure Italian evilness just because Ferrari said no to Ford. Im sure Ferrari had its reasons for backing down on the deal at the last minute and if one was to ask what was the Italian point of view, Im sure they'd say that American business practises are evil... Because on this side of the pond...all we hear is how Ferrari phoqued this up and how Ferrari screwed that up and Ford was pissed and Ford got revenge....and Im sure that that version is not all that accurate...
  13. My both kids are simply not into music the way I was therefore there is no need for me to invest in Spotify music services or heartthrob concert tickets. They listen to music but youtube is good enough for them. They dont want to listen to their teen idol artists 24/7...
  14. Spotify has a family plan? LOL So...us being in Canada, not only are we paying extremely high internet fees for 5 minutes worth of world wide web surfing, we also got to pay for music that we should already own on minimum 3 mediums... Casette (recorded over the radio for free I might add) Cassette and/or LP and upgraded to CD in the 1990s and then just transfered on MP3 later on... I will NEVER pay for online music services. I will GLADLY buy the CD/Blue Ray or LP of the artist's album but I NEVER pay for a Spotify type service or XM satellite radio. I never enjoyed Howard Stern and I do have satellite TV for sports viewing so that nullifies any reason for satellite radiuo services for. PS: I got some Cassettes that are no longer in good condition along with a few LPs that are scratched but those albums have been replaced by CDs plus I got a shyte ton of other CDs as well that are immaculate still. If I dont have a song that I have listened to when I was young, there is youtube. Most of what I enjoy listening to while I drive are on a USB key or in my car's radio's memory banks on a playlist from music that I bought and just transferred there.
  15. Muria? You meam Miura? That was a Lamborghini. But why do I think you already knew that and you purposely fudged it up telling us how "meh" Maserati really is? I believe Maserati's Miura was a Ghibli in 1969. I like the Miura... The Ghibli? Let's talk about what other cars I like in 1969 instead. Corvette Hurst/Olds & 442 Pontiac GTO Mustang Boss 429 Plymouth Roadrunner Grand Prix 429 SJ Lincoln Continental MKiii Cadillac Coupe de VIlle
  16. Yeah, the Giulia does look good. Sounds good great. Handles good great. The "F" part of FCA missed the boat in marketing this car. But then again, people are weary about Alfa Romeos and their notorious unreliability... The Stelvio...like Balthy said, its a pudgy thing. Not appealing to the eye one bit. Fun to drive you say? Maybe. Its a CUV. Which brings me to you mentioning your Equinox. The Equinox is an appliance thing. It ain't meant to be fun to drive... Not hard to surpass an Equinox in terms of smiles per mile driven as compared to other "funner" CUVs. Firstly, The Stelvio is front engine, rear wheel drive as compared to the Equinox being FWD. Not that FWD automatically means boring, but the Equinox is tuned on purpose to NOT offend anyone. Its purposely built to be boring. Secondly, That 2.9 liter V6 makes some nice sounds when accelerating. About having a market. That is the marketing department's job. But they need loads and loads of cash to convince people. Cadillac billions amounts of cash. PSA does NOT want to fork over that kind of money around on the 2 brands (Maserati or Alfa) knowing they got more successful models on more successful brands to take care of.
  17. I know I dont really care. I dont think there has ever been a Maserati that I liked. I like the sound that their 4.7 liter V8 makes, but I also heard that that engine is not that reliable.... kinda worthless. Alfa Romeo? They made some nice lookin' cars over the years, sure. But I dont consider myself a fan. Like with Maserati, I like the noises that their TTV6 makes in the Giulia, but I heard that that engine is not reliable either... so what's the point?
  18. Chryco was a goner a decade plus ago. Sure! The FCA just bought them time. And now this merger maybe buys them more time. FoMoCo should have NOT mortgaged their house the way they did. But they desperately needed money back then. Bail-out money would have made them re-structure their debt like GM did. Now they have a big problem. And botching important product launches really phoques them up, I agree. But GM is putting all their money on EVs. Many reasons NOT to do this: 1. EVs have shown NOT to be adopted by ANYBODY worldwide.... (Yes, I know...governments are forcing out the internal combustion engine...EVs are kinda the future) 2. GM putting all their eggs in the EV basket DOES make sense SINCE governments around the world are forcing peeps outta their gasoline cars....but...TESLA holds those cards. GM not only has some image problems concerning certain segments in the ICE world, but TESLA is a GIANT in the EV world. And MOST EV conscience peeps out there not only LOVE TESLA over any other EV wannabe, but it seems EV lovers HATE on GM the MOST because of the EV1 in the 1990s... Like I said, CHEVROLET is in a pickle...the Silverado is THE bread and butter....and it aint doing too well. Thank the Lord for the SUV versions of those trucks...(Tahoe, Yukon and Escalade and GMC in general) Ms Barra better make the right choices for Chevrolet in these coming months...
  19. Wrong answer! I wanted to hear: GREAT!
  20. Throw away cars? Id say these are/were bread and butter cars...GM went through all their brand's versions of J Cars and the FWD A Platform and N Platform that spawned Grand Ams and Calais and Achievas and Aleros and Corsicas and Tempests and Skylarks and Somersets and still couldnt dent Corolla and Civic loyalty. W-Body? Gone! Epsilon successor. Gone! Pontiac and Oldsmobile? Gone! Malibu is gonna die too...rumors... The CamCords and the Sonata/Optima clean the Malibu's clock. The Fusion is going away and even if people are aware that the Fusion is going away, they are NOT buying Malibus... Camaro? No word yet on a replacement. Project for a successor model has been at best case scenario pushed back and/or postponed...worst case scenario is another death for Camaro as plans have not been made...yet. Just that no new Camaro is planned for anytime soon... Silverado sales are falling. Ram trucks have taken over their spot. I suspect its the ugliness of that truck's face. But Im afraid if they make the Silverado a looker again, I think the people will not be back. I think those sales lost to Ram, those people will stay with Ram. Sorry man. I fear for CHEVROLET at the moment. Corvette will do fine. For now. But when the novelty of mid-engine wears off, will the peeps be back for another 60 years as they were for the front engine, rear wheel drive version?
  21. Autoline Detroit today just said that the French might want to put Alfa Romeo and Maserati on the block if the merger is going to go through. These two brands are bleeding money and they deem them not to be worth the effort trying to promote them since their sales are dismal as well... just click on that link. I hope it starts when John McElroy is talking about it. https://youtu.be/NmUdAWdb6ew?t=177
  22. Chevrolet loyal owners? The Impala once sold 1 million copies per year... The Impala has died 3 deaths... From Citation II to Celebrity to Lumina to Impala. From Chevette to Cavalier to Cobalt to Cruze...and Cruze is dead? I think?...all because the Japanese (and now....Koreans) keep all the loyal Chevrolet owners to themselves... The Chevrolet fullsized pick-up truck is now in 3rd place in sales behind the big bad Dodge! A lifetime, the Dodge was in 3rd place.
  23. I think just fine! You still didnt answer me how have YOU been... Ive missed you...NOT!!! ?
  24. 3 people on my street all just acquired Tesla's Model 3. Am I going to see firetrucks in my neighborhood anytime soon? But then again, I own a Ford...Fusion...with the 1.6 liter ecoboost... From the UK...just last year...after I googled 1.6 liter ecoboost fires. 1st thing that popped up... https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-england-46180703 Yeah... Tesla is in the shytes. Could be true. But what is FoMoCo's excuses. This is a century old car maker... Not to pass the buck...but Tesla just suffers from the same shyte that all car makers suffer from. NO EXCEPTION! If we wanna just point the finger at Tesla because they evil, well, that is quite hypocritical of us, doncha think?
  25. Actually, humans know also. This time changing thing phoques with our biological clock. I cant stand this daylight savings time change twice a year. We are currently on standard time right now, right? Let's keep it there!!!
