  1. The E36 Bimmer is one Bimmer I can tolerate. The E39 M5 is a car I lust after. So, Im not all hate hate hate vex vex vex on BMW. But I aint far off...
  2. And Ive been exposed to that...so I dont get the "ultimate driving machine" moniker when Both Camaro and Trans Am even by mid 1970s standards STILL had engines that would overpower ANY BMW. And the driving dynamics of a 2nd or 3rd generation F-Body was not bad in the handling department either. The E30 was chintzy and light. Like a Go Kart. THAT is not something I enjoy in a daily driver. That is just me. An F-Body in the 1970s and 1980s, was really not that bad of a daily driver despite what car magazines were saying about them... And of course...everybody wanting to be cool just jumped on that bandwagon... And I was not going to fall prey to that, which lead to me DESPISING Bimmers!!! Yes. I agree. But they handled well enough for the majority of our roads. Like you said. This is one reason why I LOVE the modern Challenger. It did not jump ship to be a European style sports car like the Mustang and Camaro did. Its all good that Mustang and Camarto did that. I prefer that Ford and Chevy engineers took that path. But Im also glad that the MOPAR guys kept the Challenger true to its roots. And this new Challenger handles the twisties as good as any modern car should handle them. But it also retains that muscle car cruising attitude which I prefer!
  3. Yeah...and THAT is why I HATE BIMMERS. I am not too fond of the GM J-Body for the record... Because its always about putting down what American cars were meant to do. And always playing up the BMW factor. (Not saying you are doing that...but that is what I was exposed to) And Ive had a taste of the ultimate driving machine, and I wasnt too impressed with it.
  4. I edited my response above. But the edited response would not answer your response. 1950s-1970s Chevys Not just Chevys, but American cars in general were (still are?) not meant for twisting, mountainous roads. Those cars were meant for the great American road and highway. For CRUISING. And for stop light to stop light acceleration. European roads are tight. Narrow. Twisty on mountainous terrain. But...are torqueless and horsepowerless because of gasoline being sooooo expensive. Even today. But we wont mention today. The cut-off is the 1980s. Regular Bimmers even in the 1980s...were chintzy. WORSE than the Cavalier. WORSE... A LOT WORSE. That 316 was in Chevette territory interior wise. The Cavalier, any trimmed Cavalier faired better. THIS is why GM and Cadillac went with the Cimmaron based on a Cavalier, because in reality, a BMW E30 was very comparable to a Cavalier. Exterior. Interior. Stupid decision...but still... Apart from the RWD/FWD thing...same... Yes...I equate the E30 as a J-Body... Yes...the Cimmaron lookeds like a Cavalier in 1984...but...the Bimmer is an econobox too. Nothing special. RWD you say? So are G-Bodies from GM MADE for OUR roads...JUST because G-Body's didnt handle the twisties, they sure did handle cruising excellently...something the E30 was awful at... Look at all that awful hard plastic...and those spartan doors... Id say the Cavalier has a slightly better interior... Better, more comfy seats... Just for the record...I aint too fond of the GM J-Body either...
  5. Not BMW drivers per se. My closest personal friends that I grew up with. (My Greek friends whose parents grew up together with my mom) And yes...those Greek friends are EXACTLY how BMW drivers tend to be... These guys have always put BMWs on such high pedestals and these same guys have made fun of me for loving American cars and dissing me for enjoying muscle cars. But THAT is not the ONLY reason. Its also on a personal level with me. Those early Bimmers...almost all of them...are HOMELY. UGLY. Econobox POS for the masses. Chevys were always economy cars for the masses too. But they were hardly homely and ugly. ESPECIALLY from Chevy's existence to the 1970s. Chevy made some peculiar decisions in the 1970s, but they were not BMW ugly or BMW homely either....YET some how, we diss on Chevy... If car magazines and car guys dissed the Chevy Cavalier even the Chevette, I NEVER heard the same for BMW. Yeah...I know...M3 OK...CORVETTE... If we could be lax with the hate for BMW homeliness because 2002 Turbo and M3, then we could be lax on Chevy because of Citation II and Chevette and Cavalier BECAUSE of Corvette, Camaro, Chevelle SS, Impala SS... So there...petty, but simple, but from the HEART!!! PS: Ive driven a 1984 E30 316 in Greece. While it has some honest RWD capabilities, I was never impressed on the same level as how some enthusiasts tend to glow over Bimmers. Its just...an econobox that is chintzy...and light...like a go kart... I like driving go karts...But I dont wish to drive go karts on the street with pot holes... All I retained from that E30 316 is that it was chintzy and light... So I never understood the "love" for Bimmers...
  6. I HATE BMWs. Its an irrational sentiment as its...a car...its just an inanimate object.... But why do I loathe such a thing as a BMW? Its NOT an overly complicated matter. Au contraire, its quite simple. Petty. But simple. But I wont be dwelling on that. I will just be telling you folk how I LOATHE BMW and these two models in particular. These two models, are the REASON why BMWs are soooo famous. These two BMWs are the basis of their now...ironic slogan. "The Ultimate Driving Machine" The BMW 2002 and the E30 3 Series. It dont matter in what trim, I CANT STAND these things. Maybe I should have chosen the econobox versions to post as pics as to PROVE that I have ZERO respect for these homely pieces of shyte!
  7. I support the...mini skirt, on my car. Here are a couple of fine examples of how I like my mini skirt, on my car. Old skool and modern There is another variant to this...the short shorts does an equal great job
  8. Bahhhh... Im sure there are some who deserve world wide accolades...I dont feel like discussing who and who is not deserving... But...Obama hasnt been in office for...3 years... I think its time for you to put that to rest big boy! I repeat:
  9. @ocnblu You can and usually do get overexcited for nothing... Audi..has had prior fire problems with their gasoline powered cars too... And not just with their mid-engine stuff either... And I could EASILY find Lamborghinis that catch on fire...Lamborghini because they are part of the Volkswagen Group...same as Audi...
  10. Maybe you could have chosen another past victor other than Obama... Quite honestly, most of these awards are just for the elite to give kudos to themselves...but you targeting Obama, shows how divisive you wanna be with your country and countrymen... YOU would be part of the problem... If you and others like yourself will NOT change... Washington DC will eventually burn and Trump's future successor dont matter if Blue or Red, will be playing the fiddle...
  11. What? What about pearls? OK...I think I see where you are coming from. Yeah...I agree...I TOTALLY can see that Trump and pearl necklaces go hand in hand.... Something about Jr. makes me think that he too, enjoys a pearl necklace from time to time. BTW. It was a lovely O'Day today in Montreal. Nice and sunny, not Stormy at all...
  12. I wouldnt think he would want a silly little prize like that. Its beneath him...a NOBEL Peace Prize... He would prefer they change the name of it to the "Trump" prize...
  13. love...LOVE that Indigo Blue Challenger❣️❣️❣️ I was gonna post a Go Mango Challenger Hellcat with Black Racing Stripes but the Challenger has been done. So...I go on a different route. Now...My favorite MODERN car WOULD be the Challenger Hellcat/Red Eye...but...Ill find another one. Ok...from "a/the" previous poster. I like the CT6 and Id do a Black or Pearl White Black Wing if it existed...but the CT6 has been done. Ill do the Grand Cherokee. I dont like SUVs but Im OK with this SUV. Since the Challenger has been taken, and...there is a Hellcat version of this ?, Id like an red one please. Or better yet, the Maroon one looks goooood. Grand Cherokee Trackhawk The more I look at this Caddy, the more I like it. CT5 V And in this colour. (Burnt Orange?) But Id probably would want the Blackwing V8 in it. And in this colour, Id probably rip off ALL the CT5 badges on it, and 3D print ELDORADO (in brushed aluminium...yeah...Id spend the money!!!) to replace them with!!!
  14. Going Green Part II From this: To this: Forgetting about the scandal, I think both commercials are fantastic and extremely well done.
  15. That is what I said...and maybe, THAT is what Cadillac's game plan is. I mean, that is what I understood from Mary Barrra's last 2-3 speeches.
  16. I agree to all...except to one... The bolded part. Buying a Corvette at a Chevy dealership should NEVER feel like a Porsche/Ferrari/Aston Martin dealership... Buying a Corvette at a Chevrolet dealership should be EXACTLY like buying a Chevrolet at a Chevrolet dealership. Corvettes are not boutique cars. They are mass produced. Corvette sales over the years have never been lower than 6000 units (excluding the first 2-3-years), have gotten a few 10 000-15 000 sales and for the most part been over 20 000 units. As high as 50 000 and Id say constantly selling 30 000 -40 000 units. Porsche 911s have at their most, sold 12 000 units in the US. twice they did that. Porsche constantly sells 8000-9000 units in the US. Aston Martin and Ferrari even less than that. A LOT less. As they should sell A LOT less... If Corvette were to be its own brand, than Id say Corvette would most definitely better be boutique like AM, Porsche Ferrari. But alas, Corvette is but a Chevrolet. And NOTHING wrong with that. Hardcore Ferrari guys are NOT buying 911s and hardcore 911 guys are NOT buying Ferraris and both of those guys are definitely not buying Corvettes. And hardcore Corvette guys...well they are extremely happy when their hotrodded Corvette kicks Ferrari and 911 ass... Aston Martin guys...probably own 1 Ferrari, 1 Porsche 911 AND some sort of vintage Corvette...possibly even a new Vette...7 Hardcore Ferrari guys have several Ferraris in their garage. Hardcore 911 guys probably own some sort of classic muscle car, but they will NEVER admit to owning it...
  17. Exactly...EVs are expensive... Like I said...I really dont want Cadillac selling 400 horsepower 4 cylinder XT4s in the first place. Maybe an EV XT4 sized vehicle... Yeah...I could go for that....because then the price tag will be where I want Cadillac to be in... I could forgo a 400 horsepower 4 cylinder XT4 V. If EVs are the future, then 4 cylinder petrol engines are a step back for Cadillac. Hey...its impressive those figures...for a 4 banger. Pretty darned awesome. But, if the market is to shift to EVs, then I want Cadillac looking ahead. If Tesla could make a name for itself with a Model 3, and the Model 3 is more or less XT4 sized, then I would prefer Cadillac give us a Model 3 competitor rather than what Mercedes is gonna offer with its 400 HP 4 banger. Not taking away what Mercedes is doing....Im just wanting Cadillac to be ahead of the curve.
  18. Googling info sometimes gets confusing results. But thanks to Balthy and Surreal.
  19. I also love the '57 Eldorado Biarritz and place it high on my list as the '59
  20. I just learned that Biarritz is just a way to say convertible...(only in 1976 was Biarritz a high end trim level offering...) While Brougham was to designate hardtop. I think the high end trim I was looking for is "Series 62" and/or "d'Elegance"? @balthazar Please set me straight.
  21. Possible EV coming to a theatre near you next summer? Maybe? Cadillac IS going all out in EVs, right? And...I really DONT want Cadillac selling us A Class, GLA and GLB type vehicles...
  22. Didnt Cadillac have a Biarritz trim that did what ya'll are clamouring for Cadillac to do? I would want that too, but I also want Cadillac NOT to sell vehicles below a certain price point. In fact, I prefer they stop selling vehicles below the 50 000 dollar threshold over a Biarritz/Avenir/Denali/ higher trim nameplate... And NO to the idea of a sub brand higher than Cadillac. Cadillac is...CADILLAC. Point finale. A higher trim...yes...but not a sub brand. Lets first start by nixing the vehicles in those price points that are NOT befitting of the Cadillac name and then everything else.
  23. I agree...I was erroneous in my comment. I disagree...about racing. Most brands today are in some form of racing. Toyota is "racing" the Camry... By that same token, Ford is/was "racing" the Fusion. (NASCAR) If Renault was to sell calls in North America, would you or anybody else give a shyte about Renault's involvement with the 24 HR race at Lemans and anyother IMSA raceway... Nissan...Nissan is involved in the exact same way Renault is... do any of us really care about Nissan's racing? Are we honestly aware that Nissan races in a higher category than Corvette Racing? Does Nissan's involvement really help those North American sales of Sentras and Rogues, or is Nissan's cheap leases the reason for all these sales? I will agree that for SOME brands, any form of racing does help image. Ferrari Dodge for Drag Racing....HEMIs go a loooong way in the NHRA. Chevy is , NHRA drag, IMSA, NHRA Ford in NASCAR, IMSA with the Ford GT Mazda in autocross courses with their Miata... All this to say...Lamborghini does NO racing... Audi does, BMW does. But how does those racing efforts do for them? For @smk4565 to say that Cadillac is best to do battle with Aston Martin and Porsche is asinine. Chevy and its Corvette NEED to go racing in the GT class WITH Ferrari, Porsche. Im not so sure Aston Martin needs this as much as they think they do. But Ill tell you one thing. They thought beating Ferrari, Porsche and Corvette is a status for them. I dont think Aston Martin customers care all that much. I think Aston Martin CEOs care more. But that is the thing...when a prestigious marque like Aston Martin cares enough to try to beat Corvettes...its good for Corvette. When Porsche the company and the owners and Ferrari the company and the owners get flustered when they cant beat Corvette and go all out to beat Corvette at IMSA...its GREAT for Corvette. I dont think BMW, Aston Martin owners care if BMW or Aston Martin wins or loses. I do think that potential Corvette buyers in Europe care for IMSA wins. Not so much for the American market though... Cadillac potential owners in China, Europe and in the US couldnt give two shytes about racing...
  24. But they stopped... And good while too... And decided to come back to racing...when Dodge...was already gone but was dominating and their dominance was ended when Corvette Racing joined up. (Dodge and Chevrolet...) And when Corvette Racing was dominating...only then did Aston Martin want to revisit their racing past...but they did not join the higher class. They wanted to join the GT class...Ferraris, Porsches, BMWs...where Dodge formely was and where Corvette still is... Cadillac only by NAME is actually at the higher ranks... So...even if by name only...is taking care of Aston Martin as Cadilac is one level higher...with the likes of...Renault and Nissan...(Renault and Nissan...hardly top tier luxury makes) So while I was erroneous in my speech, but I wanted to showcase the 2000s. Bottom line is....Aston Martin joined the ranks where a CHEVROLET is dominating...in the 2000s... Chevrolet was ALWAYS racing compared to Cadillac. Its simply STUPID to say let Cadillac worry about Porsche, Aston MArtin just to leave Corvette out to hang... HIS speech is helluva MORE erroneous than mine. So...all this FAKE racing prestige that SMK likes to toot is exactly what Im gonna repeat to him... LAY OF THE POT DUDE, ITS FRYING YOUR BRAIN...as in makes no difference in prestige who is racing who...it meant something once upon a time ago...now its just...there.
  25. But wait...there is more It seems to me that...ASTON MARTIN WENT DOWNMARKET since Corvette was racing a LOOOOONG time BEFORE Aston Martin...JUST for Aston MArtin to try to beat...CORVETTE RACING... What the phoque are you smolking? Quit it...its frying your brain...
