Fair enough...I would have possibly included Fords if I thought of them as independent.
Loved your list also... ironically that 64 is one of my favorite cars in the thread!
EDIT....
Lincoln was started by Leland...sold to Ford...
Leland started Cadillac from defunct Ford cars before FoMoCo then sold it to GM...
phoquing confusing if you ask me!
Maybe that is why I forget sometimes the little details...
But as I see things, Ford cars are independent, unless Frisky sees otherwise...and if he does, Ill redo my list and erase those Ford cars...
Well, the 2 1960s entries. The 1933 Ford Hot Rod stays!!!

Not sure of Frisky Dingo and his definition of independent because Ford was aligned with Lincoln and Mercury when some of those cars were built.
Never the less...
930 belongs here, air cooled 911 era Porsches are perhaps one of my favorite cars...glad to see you and Frisky both include it.
But....Lincoln and Mercury were brands that FoMoCo started...unlike General Motors buying Chevrolet, Pontiac, Oldsmobile, Cadillac (from Henry Ford), Opel and the like...
Ford cars....are independent...even in 2017...

Usually I am not so anal about jokes. Im a pretty funny guy myself in and real life outside the internet forums, or even in internet forums, Im a cartoon character.
But...this joke I don't find funny at al...
25 minutes ago, A Horse With No Name said:Wife: 'What are you doing?'
Husband: Nothing.
Wife: 'Nothing? You've been reading our marriage certificate for an hour.'
Husband: 'I was looking for the expiration date.'Why you ask?
Because of these little words when one marries in a more or less Christian based religion.
Quote"I, ___, take thee, ___, to be my wedded husband/wife, to have and to hold, from this day forward, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish, till death do us part, according to God's holy ordinance; and thereto I pledge thee my faith [or] pledge myself to you."
for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish, till death do us part
- for better, for worse
- for richer, for poorer
- in sickness and in health
- till death do us part
- till death do us part
- till death do us part
That should be your expiration date right there!!!
Sorry that I sucked the life out of that joke. And no! I am not at the very least offended. I just thought about it for a while and said to myself...wow, that joked sucked ballz!!!

Interesting how different Olds Hurst garage is from mine...the British have quite a bit of motoring history.
Yup....
If you have noticed, Im more or less consistent with the muscle car formula (disregarding price in this instance) in my preference for cars no matter what country builds them. Big engine in medium sized car or huge engine in small car or big and huge engine in big car.
BTW...Aston Martins are just sooooo beautiful to look at!
PS: small little roadsters are not for me....except the ones that come from Italy.
I dont drink English tea in other words!
Esss-presso Cappuccino...capisce???!!!!

1000 HP Trans Am
Or the Exorcist....but I dont like this Hennessey fella! So I would rather give my money to Kevin Morgan.
Plus, since I dont really like a Camaro, this way, its a Camaro without it looking like one and I get to save face. And yes, the 1000HP Trans Am belongs in my answer as I need to buy a Camaro from the local Chevrolet store for the conversion!!!
I dont think I missed anything.

Alberta has tons of oil, no need to pressure ourselves with this EV stuff...
On the other hand, Quebec has got plenty of electric fields waiting to be tapped...so my next ride will probably be 100% electric powered.
You guessed it, Im from Montreal.

• There are no options on the Model 3... initially. Perhaps next calendar year, perhaps earlier... will have to see how production goes.
• Apple made $9 billion in profit, 4Q2016.
True about the options on the Model 3....so the price tag will surely be close to 35 000 as speculated by the Motor Trend link (I thought it was Road and Track hence why I said the link is from Road and Track bit it is not, it is from Motor Trend)
Weeeeee Hooo! 9 billion American smackeroonies!
With a treasure chest (pun soon to come) as big as Dolly Parton's
!!!
That does not stop some haters in hatin' and calling for Apple's demise....since the 1980s...(this may very well be anecdotal rather than CNN news like, but still!
-
nobody's cancelin' nothin', man.
We have heard many....many times
that people may gonna cancel every single time there is some sort of update on the Model 3, yet the sky is still where it is...
From the Road and Track link
http://www.motortrend.com/news/first-tesla-model-3-completed-friday/
QuoteIn his first tweet, he stated that the upcoming Tesla Model 3 had already passed all regulatory requirements two weeks ahead of schedule and that the first (SN1) Model 3 would be completed by this Friday. Earlier this year we reported that production of the Model 3 would begin in July despite Tesla’s first-quarter losses, and apparently the EV maker managed to hit its goal.
His third tweet, the shortest, simply stated that Tesla Model 3 production will reach 20,000 units per month in December. This suggests Musk isn’t expecting the same production delays that plagued the Model X.
The Model 3 is expected to have an estimated driving range of more than 215 miles and should be able to reach 60 mph in about 5.6 seconds. Prices will start at around $35,000 before government incentives.
We've already discussed to death the "prices will start at around $35,000 before government incentives." argument. Multiple sources do say buyers will probably opt for options raising the price tag...
In other words, people EXPECT to PAY MORE!
So much so that Musk was afraid this would cut into Model S sales...but it seems that Tesla sold a tad more cars than expected so there is no sky is falling scenario in this either!
Again, from the link
QuoteIn April, we reported that Tesla was valued at $48.2 billion, $3.1 billion more than Ford, putting the EV automaker just behind General Motors. The announcement came after Tesla reported that worldwide shipments topped 25,000 units, exceeding estimates.
Tesla really does resemble Apple inc.
Since the 1980s, many detractors call Apple's demise time and time again...
The only time I fear for Tesla...is when that new Fisker EV comes to play!
And Fisker did do some work on the Tesla Model S before he skedaddled out of there!
Other than that....I dont fear the Reaper!

I thought about doing an E30 M3 myself, but I wanted a newer 4 cylinder car and since I already had an older classic(if you will) in the Acura Integra and (quite honestly) I did not feel like being a hypocrite in including a car that I have soooooooo been down on for about 20 years (because the Lord knows how I have openly bashed this particular vintage Bimmer in real life and at Motor Trend Forums) so I decided to be a hypocrite on the Cadillac ATS.
It has ONLY been 2-3-4 years that I bash the ATS versus 20 years for the Bimmer and quite honestly, I have only bashed it in Cheers for Gears...
so....there ya go!

Ill just defend the Chally's honour.
I must say, there is a lot of sour grapes and falsehoods in this thread regarding the Challenger.
One HUUUUGE falsehood is that the the Challenger is as claustrophobic as a Mustang and a bunker like a Camaro where you cant see out of it!!!
This is bullshyte of course!!!
The sour grape approach is that some are afraid to admit that the Challenger actually is a well demeanored vehicle that CAN handle the twisties just fine with all that horsepower under the hood.
Question is....should the Challenger BE a fully capable twisty sports car?
THE ANSWER IS A PHOQUING RESOUNDING NO!!!!
IT IS A PURE PHOQUING MUSCLE CAR IN THE PUREST PHOQUING SENSE.
I for one DONT want this pony car to become more in line with a Mustang or Camaro and become more European. Its just phoquing fine just the way it phoquing is!
And the way it sells in the market place, which is not far behind the other two, plenty of people agree with me! Especially considering how archaic the platform is and how new and state of the art the other two are!
I agree with @Frisky Dingo
AWD would really blow the universe apart!

Im iffy on the visuals of the widebody.
Sometimes I like the look of it, sometimes I dont.
I dont like it most of the time because in pictures, the fender flares looked tacked on, like a bad home garage hot rodding project gone to hell!
Without the rivet holes on the factory car of course!
Id prefer something like this instead
-
This is why I dont like small cars...and Im only 5'6"!
But I also chose this vid because of your choice.
And I also love Jerry and Norm.
3 for 1 deal!

1. 2018 Ford Mustang 2.3 liter 4 cylinder Ecoboost with a rumored 350 HP and 350 ft.lbs torque and line lock standard.
2. 1999 Acura Integra Type R (or GS-R)
Id try and find an unmolested one. I hated these when they first came out. My cousin had one (GS-R 1999 and manual of course) and I gagged every time I saw it...which was daily. I drove it several times and in hindsight...over time...Ive come to realize I actually LOVE this...you know... revving that engine...and to be honest, I think its one of those rare MANUAL TRANSMISSION cars I enjoyed...because as you know...I also hate manuals...
3. I always seem to choose the Ford Fusion here, but the Malibu has intrigued me and it is newer and fresher...Ill go with the Malibu 2..0T Premier this time around!
4. Im soooooo in love with this car. She is gorgeous. I cant afford the other sexy redheaded Italians, so this one shall do!
5. Cadillac ATS 2.0T
Yes I know....I have been severe on this car...well, I tried all kinds of google searches on what new 4 cylinder cars Id enjoy and the answer is none....
The Golf R is closest in what Id like. But VW aint for me. TOO Germanic. The new Civic Type R...TOO fast and the furious boy racer...The 1999 Integra is the real deal so Im sticking with that. There is no 4 ylinder Audi that Id consider that I wouldnt get the VW version way before and I think I addressed my reasoning for no to VW...
No BMW other than the M2 and the M6 GC...and those arent 4 cylinder cars!
Cadillac ATS 2.0T it shall be!

Only 6 more CF than a s-550?? (114 CF). That's a crap-ton of extra money for a few duffel bags of space.
My '59 has 1.5-in more total legroom than the S-550 -as a coupe- on a 1.5-in shorter wheelbase.
- - - - -
Horse- I thought of that also, I'll measure my B-59 door thickness but they are plenty thick- I don't think that's it. There's plenty of room for side impact guards. GM started putting them in ahead of the federal reg IIRC: 1970- and I have access to a P-70 I can measure. Or was there a standard that mandated more space between the seat & door?
I got nothin' for our discussion regarding vehicle classification.
My best swing at the ball was already discussed which I think is good enough to explain why the switch.
Your thought process is logical enough....
I just simply dont care enough to make a distinction. I remember very well how large and wide cars were back in the day and because we are simply not offered those types of cars anymore coupled with the fact that where I live in the Province of Quebec and Quebec is the compact car capital of North America and has been since the late 1980s...it really does not make any difference to me how cars are classified.
I do laugh though when I do hear some "enthusiast" car magazines call the Honda Accord as a fullsized car....for those very same reasons you mention...
I also laugh to see how cars have grown in size and especially weight (thanx in part to all the safety stuff going on, but also due to the unnecessary gadgets that we have such as TV screens...) and I just as ask myself.....why oh why did we have to downsize our cars? To have back-up cameras and beep beep noises when another car approaches our blind spot? Id gladly take the gluttonous amounts of steel and chrome over the gluttonous amounts of unnecessary electronic doo-dads!
So yeah! A part of me thinks the way you do, but in reality, I just reminisce how huge cars were back in the day and...that is it.

I assume you meant 'nowhere near as long'. Escalade ESV is 224" overall (Escalade is 204"). I had a '65 Bonneville 4-dr hardtop for a while, it was 221".
I meant it as "I think the Escalade ESV may be an inch or so shorter than the 1974 Deville, but I aint sure and if the Escalade ESV happens to be a tad longer then I am not that surprised either"
Your point of view is logical!
Give me 24 hours so I could think of a logical counter argument.

So....where do those 3 1960s entries I made stand?
Ill be honest, I had a hard time convincing myself to include Ford cars because I too view independents like you do...when it comes to these threads, I always find a loop hole to circumvent the rules...this Ford thing aint no different.
Tough one....
Like I said...I will agree to any points of view regarding independents and I will erase the 64 Galaxie, 67 Fairlane and 65 Mustang.
The 33 Ford stays as its as independent as it gets....after Lincoln but before Mercury...and FoMoCo was not as big as it is today and many other manufacturers from all over the USA were still producing cars from Wisconsin to Indiana...not only in the Michigan area.
