This is awesome!! Also, welcome. There are bunch of us fellow MTers who jumped over here. I wish this place were a little more active. We have to start Dream Car garage threads and the like... Im sure those will take off. We just have to slowly let the C&G guys in on our ways and be patient enough for them to catch on...but Im sure they will take to our Dream Car garage threads. I know CCAP asked for one a couple of weeks ago... Haha yes i did! I forgot about that.. I actually thought of a good one while I was busy working.. but because I was busy working I forgot.

..because I want everybody to see how awesome this is... And this because I thought it was comical.

Cadillac News: 2017 Cadillac XT5 Debuts in Dubai UAE
ccap41 replied to Drew Dowdell's topic in Cadillac
I went to Cadd's website to build one today and did you know you can get "carbon plum" as an interior color?!?! I absolutely LOVE that. -
I saw the ratings came out today for the '17 Pacifica, 18/28 city/highway. Not sure about you guys but that sounds stellar for how large "mini" vans have gotten. I guess it is only on par with the Honda and Nissan (19/28 and 20/27, respectively) http://www.motortrend.com/news/2017-chrysler-pacifica-hits-1828-mpg/

Welcome Pete! There are a few of us that came from MT when their forums kind of just stopped working. So you may recognize a few names.

Yeah, I posted the correction asking a mod/admin to correct that for me at the very bottom. I realized too late.

This one goes out to Olds and ocn I thought this story was pretty awesome and entertaining. Coolest part of it all was that it was still using a manual transmission. I think a manual transmission would really help keep the enthusiasts, like ourselves, a little more entertained by electric cars. I know it would add to the experience so much more than just a straight auto that never shifts.. As exhilarating as the g-forces would be still being able to row my own gears in a performance car would be ideal. There wasn't much to read so I just posted it all: "It would be easy to assume the Tesla Model S is the fastest electric car in the world. The P90D can, after all, hit 60 mph in less than 2.8 seconds and is limited to a top speed of 155 mph. But no, it doesn't hold the record as the fastest electric car in the world. That record belongs to an electric Corvette called the Genovation eXtreme Electric. As shown in this video and verified by the International Mile Racing Association, the GXE was able to hit 186.8 mph. Could the Tesla Model S P90D—or the potentially upcoming P100D—beat that record if its top speed weren't limited? We're honestly a little surprised that Tesla hasn't tried. But the GXE is no slouch in the performance department. Its motors produce a combined 700 horsepower and 600 pound-feet of torque, allowing it to also hit 60 mph in three seconds flat. Its 130-mile range on a single charge isn't too shabby either. Perhaps the craziest thing about this electric Corvette—other than its $335,000 price tag—is the fact it still uses a manual transmission. Electric or not, a 700-horsepower Corvette with a manual transmission sounds pretty awesome to us. The GXE might not make the same great Corvette sounds we love, but on the other hand, never having to pay for gas again might be worth it." I'm not sure why it formatted the way that it did.. sorry. Can a mod or admin change the title.. I kind of left out "electric". lol

BMW News: BMW Sees A New Future With Driverless Vehicles
ccap41 replied to William Maley's topic in BMW
Shame that Merc's playing second fiddle to Tesla. I guess someone's always gotta play catch-up. Same thing I was thinking. Tesla is pretty dang close with what they're selling RIGHT NOW. MB is doing swell but it isn't Tesla-like quite yet. For SMK: http://www.caranddriver.com/features/semi-autonomous-cars-compared-tesla-vs-bmw-mercedes-and-infiniti-feature- 18 replies

Sled from MT plays with real guns and real live firepower. Not toy things such as yourself. Yeah...hello CCAP I thought I might drop you a line. PS: I dont do paintball. None of my friends ever got into it. A shame I think, because I dont doubt the fun part. Dang, I forgot about Sled. I liked that gent. Seemed like a good and level headed guy. I wish there was a way to reach out to him to invite him over here. I'd love to get into real firearms I just don't have somewhere reasonably priced to shoot often so it isn't with buying too many with no place to shoot whenever I'd like to. Paintball is a blast! I highly suggest going snd trying it on a Saturday or Sunday with an "open play". Rent a gun and mask..and get after it. It can get real expensive real quick to just get into it but I found there is a HUGE used market where you can get very good equipment for very reasonable prices. You should find a small group of guys(and/or girls) and go sometime! I don't know how old your kids are but it would be a good way to get them into gun safety as well as having a good time. I just hope your local fields are ran well and they don't let the experienced players just run through people. That's teally the biggest issue with new people is the experienced people almost won't play "fair" because they just know the fields and how to play and light up the new people in turn discouraging them on their first day. We went to a great place last weekend that they would rebalance the team's if they got lopsided. I don't mind losing but I don't like to get smoked right away, in every match.

All engines picked up a few MPG in the EPA cycle without getting more gears and actually getting a considerably larger footprint...... I didn't realize it was pretty much a 2mpg improvement across the board. I guess I just didn't realize how bad the pre '15s were.

I'm not being stubborn because it is FCA. I made a joke because it is a brick flying through the air and the Wrangler already only gets 21mpg on the highway. What makes me think they won't do all of those tricks on a smaller cheaper truck? because it is cheaper and technology costs money. Adjustable ride height on a mid-sized Wrangler truck? Active leveling system? The cost to do that stuff. Grill shudders? Sure. We know it won't have the same curves as the Ram so that part is out as well. You chose to get defensive like you do whenever anybody says anything that isn't overly positive about FCA. It was a joke. Don't take everything 'not positive' so personally.

You are taking it further than you need. A greater rake to the windshield/grille does no have to take the Jeep look away at all. Here is an interesting AllPar article about the 18 Wrangler. http://www.allpar.com/SUVs/jeep/wrangler/2017.html No, I think you're underestimating how much work the other manufacturers have put into achieving 18/24 for the v6 4x4 Colorado and 18/23 for the v6 4x4Tacoma. If you don't think they put an emphasis on fuel economy and aerodynamics and then Jeep will be the first? C'mon. That flat windshield(raked or not), flat roof, fender flares.. all things that go on a vehicle aiming at improved "slipperiness". Riddle me this Batman. they can already get 16/23 from the MUCH larger and MUCH heavier Ram with the same Pentastar 3.6 V6/8 speed and even 15/21 from the 4x4 1500 Ram 4x4 with the 395 HP Hemi/8 speed. Seriously............. Do you think FCA is inventing aerodynamic air flow on the 2020 Jeep Truck for the first time ever. You honestly are either being that stubborn or you seriously think GM and Toyota have never put their trucks in a wind tunnel looking for an edge. If you don't think they have then maybe, just maybe, look at that lower front diffuser on the Colorado that make it appear only a few inches off the ground when you look at that. There is your riddle. And positive aero flow as less to do about how large and heavy a vehicle is as opposed to how the air is being placed and used.

I agree, though from photos it is looking mini GC. I think they just got such a great design with the Patriot. it just screams Jeep with elements of the XJ and Wrangler baked into the design. Agreed, I like that they still have something other than the Wrangler with the harder, tougher body lines that isn't getting too soft. Even though I'm not a huge an of the current Patriot/Compass I still like the idea that they aren't all "cutesy" yet.

The big one, right? I've seen only a few. Actually, probably just a tad less than the Ram. I don't see near as many of the 2500/250's as I do the small Transit Connects and slowly seeing more of the little Chevy vans as well.
-
Yeah that's why all the CUVs are only a couple inches off the ground if you look at the very bottom of the front end. Heck, just last year I waslked up to a Tahoe or Yukon in our parking garage and knelt down and the front diffuser had to be only 5 or 6 inches off of the ground, enough to maybe clear a parking block.

Have you ever seen a Wrangler..? lol But in all seriousness, the changes that would have to be made for something like that would make it look way less Wrangler than I think the customer base would want. Those same aero tricks you speak of, are being done by everybody and if the v6 4x4 Colorado is 17/24 then a boxy version of that just doesn't make any sense to match it. To make it a Wrangler sibling it will still need an upright and squared off windshield and grille. so either way it won't be as raked as the Tacoma or Canyonado.

I could spin the front tires on gravel. Hahaha my first motorcycle was 100hp, and my second was 123hp/56tq.

That is interesting and must be a regional thing as I see transits but not in the numbers compared to the ugly new RAM van and GM's Vans especially their new Chevy mini van. That thing is everywhere around Seattle. We're more Transits here as well. Transits and the ugh-oh Ram. But it appears to me more of the Transit Connect and Transits here. Well, there are a lot of the Connects here for sure. I rarely see either other other two smaller work vans.

Oh well that isn't near as bad then. I do LOVE the VW HID's. Something about the color, shape, LEDs, just a good looking head light. My friend was actually pondering upgrading to a '16 but the one that he came across was only like 25k but had the standard lights, cloth interior and he just couldn't step out of his loaded Autobahn. He also digs the HIDs on VWs and really didn't want to just get a newer car but most everything else was a slight downgrade as car as interior bits and such. Yeah, those are good lookin' for sure. Especially if they are half the price! Are they 700 a piece or 700 for the pair? I thought HIDs on the GTI were like 1500 EACH, or somewhere in that ball park.
-
Aren't those lights like 1500 a piece though? That's about as unrealistic as adding the e-diff...imo... That's awesome you work at a VW dealer! I actually have two friends who are obsessed with VW(the one with the '12 GTI and another who drives a '12 or '13 Jetta TDI 6spd). The one with the Jetta will never own anything that isn't VAG, he's just like that. When he's in the market for a new car I'll definitely pass him your way. You'll just have to let me know what dealership you're at. He lives in IL but works at Boeing so he's in STL daily.

Yes, it will be based on the Wrangler so it will be printing money for FCA. I wonder how bad of fuel mileage the Jeep truck will get compared to the other trucks who have at least visited wind tunnels. It'll be rated 18/19 city/highway, lol. Actually the current Wranglers are already rated over 20 MPG on the hwy with the old 5 speed auto. This will be based on the new Wrangler which will be lighter, more aerodynamic, and have the 8 speed auto. m I say it will not have a problem matching Colorado FE engine for engine. No chance it would match the Colorado if they are working on similar drivelines. I mean even if the Wrangler truck had the newest 8 or 9spd from the FCA camp you're still talking about pushing a brick through air. I highly doubt they will be ballsy enough to change the look of the new Wrangler enough to be considered "aero efficient" by anybody's standards. I can't imagine it changing much from the current Wrangler's 16/21. I would definitely expect improvements but not a whole lot. 17/24 in its most efficient trim. Now if it has a 2WD version that would get another little bump over the Wranglers but I just don't see a way that this will match a Colorado's 18/26 in the v6 at all.
