  1. That's why I said it would still have to be a great all around tire to even consider. I agree that the tire itself needs to be very good THEN if this aero tech was added to it it would be a bonus. Plus, if this tech is as simply applied to a tire it can be added to the stickiest of tires and cheapest of junk tires for improvement across the board. Something like this(if it really does give a legitimate benefit) is amazing and can be used on everything to increase efficiency on every vehicle. Check the Continental PureContact. It's similar to that DWS but it is a LRR but it's made for a more common tire size. Or I should say a less sporty size. The DWS is more of a sporty tire as I don't think they have anything taller than a 55 aspect ratio.
  2. My LRR Continental ProContacts(OEM) suck in the winter. I feel like I can't feel my front end grip or slide. I'm not sure if that's more tires or car though. Either way they still have an extremely low giving point in the snow. As for the rain..they aren't bad in any way. I've never hydroplanes. But they kindof give off a little numb feeling. Again, I'm not sure if that's the car or tires. Now I've had the Continental ExtremeContact DWS and absolutely loved them. They weren't a LRR but they were a great tire.
  3. You mean season 1 or 2? Man, I binge watched those like a year ago. Awesome political drama. Great writing, acting. Can't wait for 3. Nope. Haha 1.25. My bus ride in the morning is about 40-45 minutes so I always get stuck in the middle of episodes. I used to hate it but I'm used to it now because I just binge watch it anyway so it's almost like one long-ass movie. That's how I watched Game of Thrones. I got to watch all 5 consecutive(not literally in one sitting or even a week but you know what I mean). I didn't have to wait a week per episode. Well, now I will though...Oh, season three is out now. I think I was told season 4 will be out in February.
  4. DAAAAYYYYYUUUUMMMM SH** gettin' reeeaaal. Just joshin' around fellas.
  5. Wing, you'll do yourself more good just not responding to him. It won't benefit you or anybody else responding to him.
  6. You've driven the 2016 Camaro extensively then? Can you do a write up on it? I'm curious what parts you feel need more refining on a chassis derived from a Cadillac. *hands Wings a bottle of aleo vera* Here's some aleo for that BURN!!! (It helps heal burns, or skin damage in general - DOUBLE BURN FOR PRETENDING YOU DONT KNOW THE BENEFITS OF ALOE VERA ON THE SKIN!!!)
  7. Close enough. If they didn't and the visibility was similar to the outgoing model(which it sounds like it is improved but still similar) I couldn't drive the car on a daily basis. When I sat in a 5th gen I had NO sense of where the front end was so parking would be hell at certain times.
  8. Are their parking sensors on the front bumper?
  9. Exactly, and would you pay a premium for them? Me? Depends what that premium is and if they are actually a good tire. I would have to imagine manufacturers would be lined up for these if they are any good. LRR plus whatever this tech is called.. CAFE is hanging over everybody's head.
  10. I doubt it would be worth paying more for but people are willing to pay more for LRR tires now and that realistically you're only getting 1mpg better. But if it is a tire that will hold up for 80,000 miles it may be worth it. But 50,000? Doubt it. I agree that it is probably minimal at best but you have to start somewhere and plus, if you can gain..3%(random guess but that's just a tad under 1mpg highway for my car) for "free", car manufacturers will do it. Also, is this the kind of benefit that will increase as speed increased? So at 50mph maybe 3% but at 80mph 5%? Because that could be a selling point to travelers or anybody putting 25,000+miles on a car a year. At least then as their mpg decreases from all of the other factors at least one thing will help maintain it..a litle.. Every little bit counts in the long run.
  11. Yokohama working on tires designed to move the air Tire design is typically focused on how the rubber interacts with the road, but what about the atmosphere? Yokohama has been developing a new concept tire that can improve both a car’s efficiency and handling by redirecting the air around it. The design involves small fin-like protuberances built into the outside of the tire near its shoulder, where the sidewall meets the tread. (Yokohama) Mounted at alternating angles, when they reach the top of the tire’s rotation they help to reduce aerodynamic drag, which improves high speed fuel economy and, potentially, the top speed of the vehicle. At the bottom, aerodynamic lift is reduced. That keeps the vehicle better planted to the road, a particularly important characteristic for high performance sports cars. The technology was made possible by recent advances in computational fluid dynamics. It builds on earlier research that found that radial fins positioned perpendicularly to the tread on the inside of the tire could also reduce the overall drag of a vehicle by changing the air pressure within the wheel wells. Production applications have not yet been announced, but the concept tires are being introduced at the 2015 Tokyo Motor Show. http://www.foxnews.com/leisure/2015/10/26/yokohama-working-on-tires-designed-to-move-air/?intcmp=hpff That's pretty crazy what they're trying to do. It's nuts to even think how a tire can benefit you in VERY unconventional ways.
  12. That's actually a very interesting story and it's really cool you got to see/sit in it before it was even shipped. I couldn't imagine preordering a car, especially something brand new(design). I guess I just don't make enough to even think about paying full msrp for anything nor do I keep cars long enough to buy brand new. More polished and nicer than what? A Boss 302? Yeah, but nowhere near as fun to drive. An outgoing SS? Better interior, but not as good of a ride or overall refinement, imo. New SS? You or nobody else can say yet since they haven't been compared, but I highly doubt it. Kind of off the topic but I saw yesterday that the first shipment of '16 Camaros was shipped yesterday. So you should see them shortly.
  13. Just started watching House of Cards. 1.25 episodes in and I'm already hooked. Anybody else watching it?
  14. Haha ..me either, brother.. Me either.
  15. Well, your opinion in wrong. #Ford4Life I kid I kid
  16. Do you have an order placed on this new Camaro..? You talk an awful lot about it..
  17. I'm going to keep it with my "soul" era(kind of..) to probably simplify it some because honestly, I want to drive everything. I want to drive everything from the 1.4l Sonic to the Prius 6.2l to the Hellcat(both of them) to the hybrid hypercars in the P1 and LaFerrari. Heck, when I was reading those van reviews/comparison and I wanted to hop in one and see what those diesels are like. I just like to see how different everything is. Like how Honda supposedly makes one of the best manual transmissions ever to the CVTs of today, I want to drive them and feel them. I want to be able to put some time behind the BMW-era that had the greatest driving feel. First gen electrics and hybrid Priuses that were probably total junk..want to drive. Genesis Sedan and Coupe? Yup. The coupe is one sharp looking car. I'm surprised it doesn't compete better with the Mustang and Camaro(or that they didn't make it to compete better with them, I should say). The sedan looks like a full on luxury car when driving past them(never been in one to judge from the interior's aspect). There is just so much I want to drive, I could just post links to EVERY manufacturer's website and say "everything". But that isn't fun.. For instance, my signature pic of the Mystic Cobra..I've never driven one! Well, Here are just a handful of cars(more performance oriented) that I'd realistically like to drive. '02 Z28/SS. I've driven a '97 LT1. Decent amount of wheel time as it was one of my best friend's but never an LS1. Never drove a GTO. I once had a salesman try and sell me an automatic(after I told him I wouldn't buy an automatic GTO)..his justification of having an automatic was so you can grab titties while driving. No joke. He actually said "you can grab titties while driving" to me...lol Absolutely fell in love with the C63 when I had my C350. AMG and how they do exhaust Oh yeah, and 450hp in a small"ish" sedan. ZL1. I wanna feel those magnet shocks. Jk, well..kind of.. It's just my Favorite 5th gen Camaro. The "grand touring" of the Camaros. I also think it's the best looking Camaro. Small, flickable, little BR-Z. Every Miata from this: To this: Aaaaaand my favorite gen and supposedly the "most BMW, BMW". I almost bought an '06 330i but I couldn't justify either the price or mileage on the ones I found. What about y'all?
  18. I highly doubt it was for the "facts". It was probably for the condesending tone. "Literally from that article (since some did not bother to read it before commenting)."
  19. Not if the updated 5.0 is still in progress.. Won't argue that I think every Mustang fan alive is disappointed that it gained weight but everybody knows there are economics that are involved and it always involves give and take and something had to give. Weight. Weight stuck around.. But once again you're proving my point. GM was able to do a new chassis AND engine all at once. Why not Ford? The answer is that GM has the bigger toolbox, and the fire in the belly. Ford does not. The didn't produce that engine FOR the Camaro though. They produced it for the Vette's release and it carried down to the Camaro. Obviously Ford doesn't have that luxury of having a Vette-like car to trickle things down from..they just have Lincoln..lol. So, it has its own product cycle to work through. GM definitely does have the larger toolbox, I won't argue that. You are absolutely correct about the 5th gen comparison. Stupid. My apologies.

  21. There's a pretty big number comparison that you just "conveniently" left out and that's the difference in figure-8 times. 25.0 for the '13 and 24.4 for the '16. That is a very good indication of how much the handling has improved over the previous generation."It's not just about straight-line performance and highway pulls anymore. Muscle cars have entered the era of handling." "If you're searching for every last tenth of an advantage on paper, you may find something that's faster than the 2016 Ford Mustang GT. Maybe something cheaper. But if you enjoy the experience as much as the performance, the Mustang GT is the whole package, with an exhaust that's muscular when exercised, a controlled ride, and an interior you don't have to make excuses for." I'd be a lot more interested in that quote if:-I didn't know the Mustang lost its first comparo to the Camaro already-in the same publication that wrote this, -the interior they're praising was being compared to the Zeta Camaro (a '15), not the Alpha. The Camaro is just too strong. Why are you assuming that quote was directed at the previous generation Camaro not the one they just had a comparison with, the '16? I don't see they would compare it to a car not in production when they have a '16 Camaro with them when this was written. I haven't gotten to read a comparion yet(not going to read pictures somebody posted), on what grounds did the mustang lose? I'm not trying to justify that the Mustang is a better car all around or this or that but you're the only person who is attempting to make the Mustang look bad. The writers all like it. Is it the quickest? Nope. Is it BAD? Nope. Is it a car that was VASTLY improved upon from its previous generation? Yup. Yes, this is the same publication that just rang up a loss for the Mustang to the Camaro. Doesn't that tell you something? Like..maybe..it isn't a POS like you try really hard to make it out to be? IRS does more than just improve handling. It improves the entire ride. If the '14's rode anything like my Mustangs with their SRA they were super choppy over any rough pavement, even in a straight line. Yes, you can tune IRS to do A LOT more. But it is more than just race car-like handling that can be had from IRS. Daily drivability can be made from IRS. Look what the Camaro did with their setup! They transformed a barge into a jet ski over the years with that last generation. They kept tweaking the system because it is so much more flexible.

  23. Is it easier to do though? I would safely assume it is more difficult to extract 10/10ths out of a quicker car than a slower car, right? So while it definitely has the ability to be quicker it is a safe assumption that it is tougher to do, because it is quicker. I mean anything over 300hp involves a lot of driver skill, if you have a manual and all the sissy nannies turned off. That actually makes me curious. I wonder which car performs "better" with all the nannies turned on? Which electronic system is "better" or "quicker" or more adaptable?
  24. I could never imagine spending 47k on a mustsng GT, nor a Camaro SS. SRT challenger? It just feels more right. The other two feel like they should just cost less, and they can be had for less(I know this). I don't understand all of the bashing as if anybody could drive either of these cars to 10/10ths. They made an overall better vehicle, period. Slower by a tenth or two? Apparently. But overall it's been improved by way more than those 2/10ths. And while the worst defense of a vehicle or..anything.. Is the "wait till XX comes out" but I don't think Ford will just sit back and allow the Camaro to dominate it performance-wise. I don't think they're going to just go nuts with an update but I see something like they did in '10-'11 and it was kind of a "wait and react" kind of approach. Effective? I don't know. Smart? I don't know. But they've done t before in the Mustang and also the F150 so I wouldn't put it past them.
