  1. I completely agree. The only thing I could think of is maybe in FWD form it gets pretty dang good mpg, for what it is. But yes, the other two, heck even the Nissan, all do the small truck thing so much better.
  2. No, several is still 3 or more, 2 is a couple. It isn't that they offer more, but price it out option for option and they are far less expensive than an equally sized SUV from another manufacturer. Even Cheaper than their own Renegade. Did you not read both of your definitions that you posted? The second one was ": different and separate That would constitute two separate "anythings" being "several". And in this case it is bailouts. Two bailouts at completely different times and separate would be "several" Yes, they cost less because they are all around cheaper. Stand next one then stand next to any other CUV they compete with and it's a no-brainer that they just don't compete at all. That is why Jeep has the Cherokee and Renegade. Those are very much class competitive and definitely leading when it comes to certain aspects.
  3. ..so "several" was accurate with the second definition.. "different and seperate" bailouts.
  4. When it comes to a multi-billion dollar comany...needing bailed out more than once would be "several" to me. Price per content on the Compass/Patriot? What content do they offer over ANY other CUV out there?
  5. How is this a thing? It seems so incredibly cheap as if it is being stolen. I should have looked at Volts before buying my Escape. http://www.autotrader.com/cars-for-sale/vehicledetails.xhtml?zip=62249&endYear=2015&modelCode1=VOLT&sortBy=derivedpriceASC&showcaseOwnerId=67757&startYear=1981&makeCode1=CHEV&firstRecord=25&searchRadius=0&showcaseListingId=389578801&mmt=%5BCHEV%5BVOLT%5B%5D%5D%5B%5D%5D&listingId=412692188&Log=0 $12,700, 26k miles. http://www.autotrader.com/cars-for-sale/vehicledetails.xhtml?zip=62249&endYear=2015&modelCode1=VOLT&sortBy=derivedpriceASC&showcaseOwnerId=67757&startYear=1981&makeCode1=CHEV&firstRecord=25&searchRadius=0&showcaseListingId=389578801&mmt=%5BCHEV%5BVOLT%5B%5D%5D%5B%5D%5D&listingId=419717150&Log=0 WOW, I would never buy anything but American but I have to give props to the Marketing team at Nissan, That commercial Rocks. I'm glad you guys appreciated it as much as I did. I loved it.
  6. It does have auto close. You don't need to slam the door, you just pull it into position and the car pulls the door in for you. Great, so more electronics to fail and jack up the price of repairs. Seems that auto's truly will become disposable consumption, drive 100K and recycle. These door handles will be a nightmare. Catch onto everything and break off causing more damage to the over all door is how I see it and I bet FORD makes a statement to NOT go through car washes as the door handles can get caught on the brushes and get damaged. Not a fan of the door handles. FAILURE in my opinion. What about that handle sticks out and says "i'll catch onto things" more than any other door handle with an opening? Plus, this doesn't actually move so there are less creases for the brushes to get caught in, in fact, zero. Picture bump!
  7. It does have auto close. You don't need to slam the door, you just pull it into position and the car pulls the door in for you. Fully manual opening though, correct? So you need something to physically grab onto, handle-wise?
  8. Navigator has IRS. It barely gives additional legroom in that and the Expy. The packaging of the Acadia is huge. GM should have never indulged people with it. Bottom line is that it looks like they have repackaged it in a way that won't effect the interior room very much at all.. while giving the second row occupants more room. The give-up is in the cargo area. Also.. due to the availability of the Long WB of the upcoming Enclave, if GM sees the need they can certainly intro a LWB Acadia in the way they did with the Envoy.. this vehicle rightful ancestor There is 3 inches more legroom in the Expy than the Subruban(3rd row). 37.7in vs 34.5in The current Traverse has 33.2in of 3rd row leg room. Take that how you'd like. I just looked it up because I was curious when I read what you said Casa. We've had this discussion before over at MT after a C&D comparo.. Passenger space in the second row was a stalemate basically.. but the Tahoe lost in the 3rd row.. which I concede, but doesn't have any effect on my particular use as I personally and investigating clean ways of removing the third row all together. I have in the past and really wish they hadn't of given into people in this dept and left the 3rd row removable. When I got my Yukon, I had forgotten I had a third row in my Tahoe, I had taken them out so long ago. I traded it in and realized afterwards.. and ended up having to sell them on Ebay for $1000. Based on popularity,... people seemingly don't give DAMN.. about that extra space concentrated on by Ford for the Passengers. They may just be a lot like me and LOOOOOOOOOVE the fact that they.. the driver and front row passenger can swing THEIR feet back in forth. Eff I care about rear seat passengers if I'm scrunched up in the front. I put my seat back as far as I can get it.. and will crush your damn legs if it gets me comfy Yes, you are correct. I wasn't disputing anything other than just looking it up because I didn't remember any of the numbers. And me personally, I don't care about the 3rd row because hopefully I never need one to use but it is for those who do actually use it. I've been in the 3rd row of an Acadia on a few occasions and it really was not that bad so knowing the Tahoe and Expedition are larger makes me not worry much about the "smaller" Tahoe's 3rd row.
  9. Concept was considerably more elegant with the solution. ....and less functional. How do you grab that piece of sculpture? I have to agree with Wings, for sure. It might look good but if your hands are cold or wet it will slip right off of that. Also, how do these doors work? I read that they can have an "auto-close" as an option and they are triggered, or something, by a button? so is it an auto-open as well? Or is it a conventional door without the auto-close?
  10. ..huh..? Lol
  11. I do admire a company willing to shrink a vehicle rather than continue to just blow it up until it fits the next class up...like everything else ever made save for the Miata.

  13. As long as its solid axle, there will never be " much more independent suspension at each wheel. " And that goes for the Ram 1500 coil over suspended solid axel too. Disagree, the Trucks that are raced at the various Bahaa races use independent suspension. After all this is a Raptor, not a work hauling truck. I get where leaf springs and everything solid makes sense but I question them not fully supporting the inspiration for this truck. A real racing truck. It is also a truck made for more than just racing in the desert and an independent rear end would likely sacrifice those other things just to hop some runes at 100mph. The balance would seem to shift without enough reward, imo. After all, people still use them as actual trucks. I've seen a few hooked up to trailers.
  14. This was a reply in the "comments" section when somebody else said the same thing. I don't know much about off roading but it does make sense. "Independent suspension degrades off-road performance. An articulated solid axle will lift the vehicle up over obstacles. Even the Humvee, with 37" tires and 16" of ground clearance could get hung up with its independent suspension. The solid rear axle gives good payload and towing characteristics along with very little maintenance."
  15. Right?!?! I saw it last night during the college football championship game and was literally just impressed, all around. Gave props for the D3 leading the way and all. I know it is all just marketing but this made me want the truck to be a little more successful now.
  16. I thought this was actually a very awesome commercial by Nissan. Props to them.
  17. Now that we have a budget(!!!!! - lol ) I think the Trailblazer is also a good option. My dad had an Envoy XL and the only thing to go wrong with it was the catalytic converter went out on it in the ~130k miles he owned it. That Taurus X/Freestyle is also a good idea. It seems there are plenty under 100k miles and under $8k as well. I'm not sure how much room you need or size in general that you want but my buddy has an HHR and when the seats are folded down there is a lot of room for a smaller vehicle and it gets much better fuel economy than the larger vehicles that have been brought up. I'm not sure how you feel about the previous generation Escapes but they seem to be in the ballpark as well. Dodge Nitro..? This is an odd one for me. I'm not used to looking up something to practical and useful..lol
  18. First, Thanks dfelt! I was actually going to ask if anybody could do an over-under of the two! You read my mind. Second, It still sounds like it will be a fantastic car. " These seats can be adjusted in 30 different ways and modified based on an individual’s body shape and weight for optimal comfort. Lincoln’s Perfect Position Seats come with independent thigh extensions, heating, cooling, and massaging functions. Rear seat passengers can also expect to be pampered because the second row reclines and includes heating, cooling, and massaging features. " This is part of the door handle comment.. still not sure how I like how they look. I need to see a picture of JUST the handle to really decide. : " Traditional door handles have also been ditched in favor of a new E-latch door release that’s integrated within the beltline. The doors are opened with a push of a button and can be automatically closed thanks to an available power cinching feature."
  19. Hmmm... I'm not sure how much I like those squinty headlights...
  20. Agreed, dfelt. I LOVE the interior but the outside is a little on the bland side. I actually think those pictures make the car look smaller than the concept pictures. I think that is part of what is making it seem underwhelming to me.
  21. I like it. I'm also fine with the "same sausage, different lengths" though. I mean that's how all of the Germans and Cadillac are, really. There isn't a huge differentiation from an A4 to an A8 style-wise, nor 3 to 7 and ATS to CT6.
