  1. Cards took game 1. Very wide strike zone but it was called for both teams.
  2. ^ and they make sure it's good and covered up too(just a plastic engine cover). The early CTSs were easier to get to but those filter housings would tighten down on their own for some reason or it had to do with the metals expanding/contracting and they would be an absolute bitch to remove.
  3. That is actually exactly what I was thinking. I don't like that the word "reveal" is used as if there will be a lot changed. I thought it was "revealed" last year..(or early this year..I don't remember).
  4. "...do you have to take the wheel off?" LMAO!! I wish that was all! No, you have to take off the entire front bumper, not joking. As for your 2.4L vs 3.6L comment, I come across a pretty high percentage of V6 models on the street, I'd venture a guess as high as 15-25% V6 models. They're much better driving cars than the base engine, hydraulic steering and almost 100 more hp/tq go a long way. Lol I has a suspicion it was that bad of a process but I never really looked into it. We would have customers about once every two weeks want a bulb changed on a newer Malibu and we couldn't do it(not a full service shop). I'm amazed a simple service item like that would be designed to be covered up that poorly(or good - whichever way you want to look at it). I agree 100% that newer cars are tougher and tougher to do a simple oil change on because things are getting hidden and tucked away much more now. I mean there probably isn't a car made in 2016 that has a completely exposed oil pan. Trucks are about it but even those usually have some form of a skid plate. Oh I believe there are a lot out there it was just the cheap peple driving them trying to get the cheapest oil changes allllllll drove the 2.4. Who would have guessed, right? lol Oh jeez, 100hp/tq is a massive difference. I know I'd take the mpg hit for it. I took the mpg hit on my Escape getting the 240/270 2.0L over the 178/184 1.6L. Give me even more to make it a 100hp gap and YES PLEASE.
  5. Ohhhhhh the air filter on the Acadia/Travers/Buick is in a different location where you can get your hand down there, albeit tough still. I burned my hand once pretty nasty on the manifold because the filter is basically tucked under it. STUPID design. But it is still easier than going from underneath. It sucks because it is one of those things where you say to yourself "I'll never buy another car like this" but when youre car shopping there are SOOOOOO many other things to worry about instead of the oil filter location. ps. With all the oil changes I've done, I can honestly say I'm not sure if I ever came across a Maibu of your generation with a 3.6. ALL of them were the 4cyl. 2.4L, right? Also, sorry this is waaaay off topic at this point, how the F do you change your headlights? Do you have to go through the wheelwell? If so, can it be done with just turning the wheel or do you have to actually take the wheel off?
  6. I have to disagree wholeheartedly. Oil changes are messy, pain in the ass maintenance that everyone must perform 1 to 3 times annually. Even moreso given the fact that so many new cars have terrible packaging under the hood. In my own car, oil filter access requires removal of the intake tubing or contorting your arm up into the car between hot components from underneath. This development would essentially make oil changes as simple as changing an air intake filter. Rather than needing a whole bay in an auto shop and time on a lift, a technician could change the oil in the parking lot without setting foot in the vehicle. Any person with an ounce of motivation could perform an oil change themselves instead of putting it off (as people do) for 10,000+ miles risking engine damage because they don't have the equipment at home or can't fit the inconvenience of a dealer visit into their life. Hey, your 3.6 is the same as the Acadia/Traverse/BuickWhateverIt'sCalled right? When I used to change oil we would loosen that filter by reaching down from under the hood rather than trying to bend your arm from under the car. If nothing else you should be able to break it loose from up top with more torque and then when your arm is all bent up underneath you won't have to struggle to break it loose. Heck, the way these oil changes look they are a lot easier than most air filters even! But yes, I know what you mean. Also, time is money. One way or another somebody isn't being productive while waiting for their oil change, most of the time. Not all of the time...but most.
  7. ...Pointless with no article... It actually sucks I think this is the first month my C&D subscription expired.
  8. GO BLUES!!! The Jets are playing th Bruins tonight and I have no idea what the score is. I came home late from work and to tell you the truth...Im not so hot on the Bruins this year. Im willing to bet that the Bruins are gonna lose tonight....an thegame n=must be almost over by now...like I said, I have no idea what the score is. Blues notched their first victory of the season! The only goal "given up" was on a puck we won off a face off in our own zone, went to clear it, and it went off our own player's calf and went in. Elliot had NO CHANCE at stopping that. I didn't see any of the Bruin's game but a 6-2 loss isn't a hot start. But there's plenty of time to correct things.
  9. Blues Vs. Oilers tonight to open our season!! LGB!
  10. That's how it looks.. Personally, I enjoy changing my own oil. I had a job changing oil and tires and for the most part, I really enjoyed the job. There's just no money in it..which is why I'm still in school for accounting. So I wouldn't like my own cars to have that but when I'm older and it isn't easy to get under a car and they're already making it difficult with under belly pans and skid plates as it is..it would be nice. And it's already a handful of years off as it is, according to them.
  11. I think a lot is customer satisfaction when it comes to time. Plus, it looks like the errors and mistakes will be brought down to zero as it looks like it is just a drop in/plug-n-go type of change. I think a lot of it depends how expensive this will be. If it goes the way they probably want it to go this will put out every small shop around. Also curious if this will be the kind of thing that will be on the shelves at Wal*Mart and the auto parts stores? It's so intriguring.
  12. Lots cars missing from that list. The SS, the Mustang, the Viper (but it probably wouldn't have done well, it's a lot to handle while the others are easier), no Hellcats It's very likely that the two Cadillac's in this test are the same ones (same VINs) I drove just yesterday... but I drove them in the wrong order. After driving the CTS-V, the ATS-V feels like your grandmother's Camry with the parking brake stuck on....... still, I was able to keep right on the Vette lead car for everything but the long straights. This is a partial convo that was had over at MotorTrend with one of the editors, Scott Evans. He pretty much answers that question and it's directly from the source. FriskyDingo: I figured the AMG would win seeing as in how there was no GT3. I'm still not smitten with the car. Then again, I'll probably never drive one, so who cares. I think the test this year was a huge letdown. I understand MT is at the mercy of the press to an extent, but it seems like for the major players that are missing- 458 Speciale, GT3, Huracan, etc- they could phone a friend. Being in LA, there has to be some connection that can come through for at least one of them. And there are still other cars missing that could have been invited. Why no standard Cooper S? Why no M235i? Why no Mustang GT w/ Perf Pkg? Why no Challenger SRT? Or one of the many updated Vipers aside from the ACR? To top it all off, I think the test is really missing a huge component by not bringing back last year's winner. It's like fighting for and winning a UFC title fight, and then being cut from the roster. Just my .02 Scott Evans: It shouldn't be too hard to imagine how difficult it is to convince the owner of a $200,000 car to lend it to a bunch of lead-footed magazine editors and a racecar driver for a week of thrashing and more than a thousand miles added to the odometer, not to mention the ever-present possibility of a crash. We've tried. Those people don't really exist. As for the other cars... 1) Cooper S: Not that great. Went backwards from the last generation. Got fat. 2) M235i: Not new. We had a choice between it and the M4 last year and we went with the M4 for obvious reasons. 3) Mustang GT PP: Out-handled by the out-going Camaro. Not good enough. 4) Challenger SRT: Great in a straight line, not much for turns. 5) Viper: We've driven them, and they're not especially better than the Viper we've already tested. The ACR is the one worth waiting for. 6) Z/28: We debated this a lot, but it's old news. It's been discontinued and the Camaro as a whole has been replaced by an all-new car. It's just not really relevant and it made more sense to bring another new contender instead.
  13. "The oil change may be about to endure a change of its own. A big motor-oil maker plans to announce Thursday that it has achieved a breakthrough in engine-lubrication design that makes it easy to change the oil in a vehicle in as little as 90 seconds, Castrol, a division of BP, says the modification over current designs also lowers carbon emissions and fosters recycling. The new system, which Castrol has dubbed Nexcel, must be integrated into vehicle engines at the design stage. That means it won't hit mainstream cars for another five years — about the length of time between major model changes for many automakers. Castrol said it's in discussions with several major automakers to speed adoption of the Nexcel system, which it brags is significantly faster than the 20 minutes it traditionally takes to get an oil change. ..." The rest can be read at: http://www.usatoday.com/story/money/cars/2015/10/08/castrol-engine-oil-advancement/73527408/?ref=yfp There is more, I wasn't sure if I was allowed to post the entire article here or not.
  14. I think it looks awesome. Looks like a modern S2000 and I still think those look sharp.
  15. I think it was C&D that I was looking over yesterday and they named the Impreza but showed a picture of that Viziv and I was super confused how they were changing the whole basic "theme" or "class" of the Impreza nameplate. I guess they just had it mislabeled. Anyway, I think the little Viziv looks pretty sharp for a smaller CUV/SUV. I don't know if they are a thing that would make it to production but I think those school bus yellow accents look pretty sharp but not overdone either. ..Am I seeing it correct..it only has three doors? 2 on the driver side and 1 on the passenger side?
  16. I'm not surprised. Toyota phoned that one in. The brand new Taco? You are so charitable calling it "brand new". It just a heavy redesign of the prior one. Lol WHATEVER! I'm actually really excited to read some test reviews and comparisons. This segment has officially gotten competitive with the new Canyonado.
  17. So the big question to ask is if they are so efficient, then why do they have to spend more than GM and Ford combined to develop auto's and yet they still have a sucky product line here in the US? The quote said they are inefficient. Not efficient. I cannot imagine the wasted money being thrown around if they are spending more than Ford and GM yet they aren't making anything that is twice as good as anything from those two companies. ESPECIALLY if you throw in Cadillac. My bad, your right, I misread it. That is a freakin waste of money. No biggie! CRAZY how much money is being wasted.. unless they have something MONSTEROUS rolling out in the next couple of years which they have been DUMPING cash into that is revolutionary.. then they need to learn how to spend money much better.
  18. ..there are three people who get super riled up over this and it doesn't make any sense to me either.. Apparently it bothers them enough to ask for it to either go away or be changed, more than once.

  20. I'm mostly intrigued by this line: "Volkswagen has been criticized for being an “incredibly inefficient” company. Last year, the automaker had set aside $17.4 billion research and development. That is higher than what Ford and General Motors spent on r&d combined last year." That's just nuts.
  21. That was my next choice! I've really been diggin' Mazda's styling as of late. I think this is the hands down best looking of the "mini/micro" vehicles. When I made my initial post I wasn't thinking SUV/CUVs. Actually.. the more I think about it maybe my previous post should have been an Abarth 500. Those are neat little cars.
  22. Abso-freaking-lutely! But.. I'll play more along the lines that I don't think a Fiesta in general is really a mico-car at all. I think it is a little too large(weird to think about, right?) And even if I couldn't have the ST I drove a buddies 1.0 Fiesta(only comes in a manual) and it was great. It doesn't come with many options at all and you can't add more but it was a great little car with a fantastic little 1.0. It super impressed me. But I think some of the impressiveness was because it was a stick so it was just fun in general. Alright, excluding the Fiesta, I would go with the 500. 95% of that is because it has the most style of that group. None of them really do anything for me but I think the 500 looks the best. I've never owned an italian vehicle and it may be the only one I could afford anyway. lol Well, Gucci Fiat 500 for me.
  23. I came across one of the rare Nissan Murano Cabriolets. I parked at a restaurant last thursday when the gf and I went out to eat and I walked past "something I didn't recognize" and I stopped and looked at it, looked for a badge on the back because I was confused as all hell, saw nothing. Walked around front and sure as $h!.. it was a Murano Cabriolet! Odd vehicle...for sure.
