The only upstart I see lasting and establishing themselves is Rivian. Everything else will flop, imo.

Alternative Fuels & Propulsion RANDOM
ccap41 replied to G. David Felt's topic in Electric Vehicles and Alternative Fuels
But all of the SAVINGS! https://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/a30209598/2019-tesla-model-3-reliability-maintenance/ "One of the pitches we hear often on the switch to EV ownership is that electric vehicles are cheaper to maintain. But, as we close in on 40,000 miles in a Tesla Model 3, the actual savings in service costs is turning out to be quite minimal. Sure, the Model 3 needs no oil changes, which in theory should save us significant cost. However, the Model 3's requirement that we lubricate the brake calipers every year or 12,500 miles—something specified for areas that use road salt in the winter months—has cost nearly as much, totaling $432 for three such services thus far, which often also include a tire rotation. Although that's less than the $539 we spent on maintenance for our BMW M340i or the $728 for our Kia Telluride, that savings works out to between $6 and $15 a month over the course of our nearly two years of ownership, which would be barely noticeable in an owner's budget." -
Our place is 5300sqft but it's certainly not your conventional house.

Nothing anymore. The meanings went away once they started turbocharging engines as they used to be displacement. Gotta spend a couple million bucks at Mercedes to compete with a 100k Tesla.
-
They're probably also going for a more linear torque curve instead of a brutal punch at any RPM. That's one place the flat planes shine as one can get into the throttle sooner without spinning the rear tires. It should be one hell of a track car, that's for sure. I can't wait to hear one.
-
Holy sh!t, thanks! And those articles are over a year old. How did I miss this?!? I had no idea they completely changed the engine for the Black Series AMG GT. It seems like an odd and very expensive move but pretty sweet for the consumer.
-
AMG GT does not use a flat plane crank V8. They use the standard cross plane DOHC twin turbo V8.
-
I would disagree with this. They were commonly known to get 30mpg in the C5-C7's cruising on the highway, something you're not getting out of a Camaro SS or Mustang GT, let alone anything this would compete with on a track. Sorry, can't tell if sarcasm or not because the AMG GT does not have a flat plane V8.
-
It kind of has, imo. It's an "everyday man's" car that's commonly daily driven. Buuuuut, this is the Z06 we're talking here and not the "regular" C8.

100%, Albert Pujols is still doing A LOT for the city of St Louis as he has charitable organizations here as well along with Yadi Molina and Adam Wainright. The STL Blues are a huge partner with St Louis' children's cancer center, along with the Cardinals. Those two organizations have teamed up A LOT since the Rams left town. https://www.nhl.com/blues/news/friends-of-kids-with-cancer-fashion-show/c-301755572

Also, for the record, not every sport/franchise has public funding. I believe the NFL is the worst with this but certainly not EVERY stadium was 100% public money. Here is a good link and at the bottom it has 111 stadiums and the breakdown via pie graphs of how they were funded. Personally, I think it should be around 50/50 split as both parties are benefitting but the city should NOT fund the entire stadium, imo. https://globalsportmatters.com/business/2019/05/22/who-paid-for-your-stadium/ For example, St Louis' Busch stadium(Cardinals) cost $365m and only $45m was public money. Enterprise Arena(Blues) cost $135m and only $60.4m was public money. St Louis City Stadium(new MLs team, St Louis City) costs $458m and only $5.7m was public money.

Sports is a waste but you always have the "news" on?

Oh man, @daves87rs, I'm so sorry for your loss. As @balthazarsaid, stay strong bud.

Where are you seeing this kind of surge in the US? That article only mentioned Japan and S Korea.

Got some weeds in your grass there, bud.

All I know, from the facts presented, is that Toyota is still well above average in the reliability and recall area.

Yeah, it just isn't something that bothers me. I'd rather there be a recall and get it fixed than for it to be a pain in the back side years down the road when things are failing outside of warranty. I assume you have the 1.6T then?

Unless there's an ABSURD number or recalls and issues(Aviator) it's just not something I really care about if I were buying new. They'll all be taken care of under warranty(obviously) and you'll get a loaner vehicle while yours is being worked on.

RIGHT?!? Somebody posted about that in a Facebook group I'm in a few months ago and I literally had to go to Dodge's website to confirm because that's ANCIENT. The 5spd auto in my dad's Tacoma certainly is not great. I'm just not a fan of the engine/trans combination. You really have to bury the throttle to get it to shift OVER 2000rpm. It's all about low revs and feels extremely lethargic. It also has the worst cruise control I've ever used. It'll accelerate to well over the set speed down hills, then wait until you're a few mph under the set speed to go almost full throttle to speed up to ~3mph OVER the set speed again when going up a hill. It also takes a couple seconds to initiate once you hit "set". You hit set, let off throttle, it'll slow down 1-2mph then speed back up to your set speed. It's pretty much only decent on flat ground. *end rant*

I'd challenge that with the Dodge Journey and its 4spd auto that's still around.

I'm pretty sure the new Land Cruiser has been announced as NOT coming to the US. That's a shame because it's a pretty awesome vehicle with one heck of a reputation. https://www.motortrend.com/news/2022-toyota-land-cruiser-first-look-review/

Unfortunately, their EV fleet either looks like complete garbage or they've been extremely underwhelming. 0-60 slower than a three model year older Tesla and less than 200 miles of range?!?! That's worse than what Ford offers. I'm not sure why anybody would leave Tesla for an equally expensive yet underwhelming EQC, whenever it may finally come here, after its delays.
