I think it most started because range wasn't 250-500 miles like it is now. Losing 30% range in something that only gets 70-150 miles of range in good conditions, is pretty crappy to only get 50-100 miles of range in poor conditions. I know it isn't often but surpassing 100 miles in a day of a lot of running around isn't unheard of. I wouldn't have been able to pick up my wife's G55 from the dealership Saturday in cold conditions if I had less than 100 miles of range. It's 60 miles in each direction. Had I had a Mercedes Benz B Class Electric (84 miles of range), it would be a two charge trip. Just say'n, I think that's why this is a major topic still. We've been over this, it starts at 75k, just like a Model S.

I believe last year when I looked this information up, it was roughly a 30% loss of range. Obviously each vehicle's heating/cooling of the batteries will change the drop in range and everybody has different solutions to maintaining their batteries.

I mean, with government incentives. They didn't just decide to pay full price for electric vehicles because they like them. They get additional benefits like access to bus-only lanes, and free municipal parking, 50% ferry/toll fees, you can look at the rest below. The Norwegian EV incentives: No purchase/import taxes (1990-) Exemption from 25% VAT on purchase (2001-) No annual road tax (1996-2021). Reduced tax from 2021. No charges on toll roads or ferries (1997- 2017). Maximum 50% of the total amount on ferry fares for electric vehicles (2018-) Maximum 50% of the total amount on toll roads (2019) Free municipal parking (1999- 2017) Parking fee for EVs was introduced locally with an upper limit of a maximum 50% of the full price (2018-) Access to bus lanes (2005-). New rules allow local authorities to limit the access to only include EVs that carry one or more passengers (2016) 50 % reduced company car tax (2000-2018). Company car tax reduction reduced to 40% (2018-) Exemption from 25% VAT on leasing (2015) Fiscal compensation for the scrapping of fossil vans when converting to a zero-emission van (2018) https://elbil.no/english/norwegian-ev-policy/

Toyota News: Toyota Unveils Full Global Battery Electric Line-up
ccap41 replied to G. David Felt's topic in Toyota
Sweet, a bunch of CGI electric vehicles. They're still way behind. -
I thought FCA/Stelantis was working on an inline-6 and not a V6. That could easily replace the 5.7 at least.

Say whaaaaaaa?!? You haven't been to a wedding since your own in '91?!?! That's actually just kind of impressive. Hahaha Understandable to get rid of it all, if you're not using it. What they ended up wearing seems more appropriate and I'd actually rather wear dress pants, dress shoes, button up shirt, and a jacket but without a tie. I like that look more and ties seem a little over the top, imo. I understand where they're appropriate and not but I'm just not as much of a fan of that look. Glad ya went! So how was it? Did you enjoy your time out?

It probably varies greatly from 3M tape to actual holes drilled. The taped on ones are probably relatively simple to remove but likely time consuming. The ones where there are drilled holes, would obviously be a much greater adventure and likely costing thousands because you'd be filling and painting. You could probably find a parts diagram online and see how they're attached.
-
What would you wear to a wedding? You had to have gone to a wedding in the last 20 years. I wouldn't go spend a bunch of money for a one-time party but you could go and grab a pair of dressier pants. I think a true formal dress attire is a little much to a party but that's neither here nor there, that's already been decided. Personally, I wouldn't worry about the pandemic part of it. You're vaccinated so you can get back to normal life, right?

Ford shares are cheap though so a dime buys more shares worth than a dime dividend from a company like Amazon or Tesla (neither of which pay a dividend though). Most people who have Ford shares a hundred to hundreds of shares.

Alternative Fuels & Propulsion RANDOM
ccap41 replied to G. David Felt's topic in Electric Vehicles and Alternative Fuels
I just found out my uncle who lives out in LA has an R1T reservation with an estimated delivery date of March '22. I'm pretty jealous, to say the least. -
Just last week they started to payu a dividend again, although smaller than pre-COVID. They took almost a two year hiatus on paying dividends and in that span the share price dropped hard to the 5-6 range. I bought a few shares in the 16 dollar range like 6 years ago and it's just now profitable. I wish I would have bought some last year when it was really low again.
-
Just last year you could have gotten in for $5-6/share, still a great buy-in price. David would prefer this get crushed.

HA, after clicking through the first link there's a link to those GOSH DARN GREEDY DEALERS marking up CT5-VB $35,000!

If he was so lousy and greedy, would he not want a tax credit for his vehicles to sell more? I do agree with this not not just defense specific, make cuts almost everywhere to NECESSITIES. We need to get our feet under ourselves again, imo. You know this is absolutely the same exact thing every company does. They're all corrupt and hypocritical.

SAN FRANCISCO — Tesla CEO Elon Musk said on Monday that the U.S. Congress should not approve the Biden administration's bill to boost subsidies for electric vehicles (EVs), saying the proposal would worsen the country's budget deficit. The billionaire entrepreneur is escalating criticism about the administration and Democrats for a proposal to give union-made, U.S.-built electric vehicles an additional $4,500 tax incentive. Tesla and foreign automakers do not have unions at their U.S. factories. ADVERTISEMENT "Honestly, it might be better if the bill doesn't pass," Musk said at the WSJ CEO Council Summit. "I'm literally saying get rid of all subsidies," he said, adding that "the government should I think just try to get out of the way and not impede progress." He also reiterated opposition to a proposal by Democrats to tax billionaires. "It does not make sense to take the job of capital allocation away from people who have demonstrated great skill ... and give it to, you know, an entity that has demonstrated very poor skill in capital allocation, which is the government." https://www.autoblog.com/2021/12/07/elon-musk-ev-bill-should-not-pass/ I can't say I disagree with him. There are enough established companies with enough vehicles on the road that we do not need to be spending tax dollars subsidizing vehicle purchases.

Thank you, the trademark situation make sense but the IQ for intelligence is stupid, IMO.

I can certainly agree that I am glad they're using "words" instead of alphanumeric junk but they could have used...real words... I don't know why Lyric, Optic, or Symbolic wasn't used. Why not "IC"?

I could not like this less. I cannot stand this miss-spelling-of-words for names thing.

Yes, he has the 3.0 Duramax diesel.

You.

There's no reason you couldn't have taken the lead and continued the program you were working for or created your own. Don't let politics stop you from your charitable donations.
-
We can just agree to disagree. I don't think it is unfair to ask exactly how the money would be spent, considering you're (David Beasley) telling me (Musk) I need to be spending it in the first place.
-
They said SOLVE. That is a permanent resolution to fixing world hunger. Also, he does donate so it isn't like he isn't making charitable donations already. He's just asking exactly how the money will be spend. If it's truly solving the issue, there's no doubt it would be programs of some sort. I don't see how it could be unreasonable to want to know how the money is spent so "solve world hunger".
-
If you have somebody telling you you can "SOLVE WORLD HUNGER" by giving away billions of dollars YOU earned, wouldn't you want to know how this is SOLVING the issue and not just feeding people for a couple weeks and then everybody is in the same exact situation as before? I don't know for a fact but I think it's safe to assume he does donate a ton of money already. Most with his net worth and public image are already donating for causes. Personally, I applaud him for calling the UN out and asking exactly how the money would be spent. My personal assumption is he knows how corrupt organizations are and how much of the money would go to people in charge rather than the causes themselves. He just wants to know exactly how the money will be spent and I don't think that's an unreasonable request. " “If WFP can describe on this Twitter thread exactly how $6B will solve world hunger, I will sell Tesla stock right now,” In a follow-up tweet, Musk added that the UN’s plan must include “open source accounting, so the public sees precisely how the money is spent.” Beasley responded to Musk’s tweet a few hours later, offering to “be on the next flight to you” and saying that the executive can “throw me out if you don’t like what you hear.” Beasley also said that while the $6 billion figure wouldn’t solve world hunger, it “WILL prevent global political instability, mass migration and save 42 million people on the brink of starvation.” (CNN had erroneously reported that the money would “solve” world hunger, but later corrected its headline to say 2% of Musk’s fortune could “help solve” world hunger.)
