The E-ray has some stuff standard that a Stingray doesn’t, but you could equip a Stingray for $70-75k and get what the E-Ray has at $105k

Really? You can get an extra 155HP and AWD on a $70-75K Vette? That must be news to me…and Chevrolet.

Sorry but you can’t cherry pick your way through this one.

I personally seem zero issue with the E-Ray pricing here. Think about it. The E-Ray opens up the Vette to a new batch of buyers who might not want to roll in a RWD only Z-06. It’s called “options” and by keeping them at similar price points, they can appeal to both buyers without the uptick in price for the “privilege” of electric.

I assume they are just going to stick with the V8 until ICE is killed off, maybe GM can make up their CAFE and emissions requirements elsewhere and doesn't care what the Corvette does.  But it is possible to make a 4-cylinder hybrid that makes more horsepower and torque than this V8 hybrid, because it is has already been done.  But if they need to get higher MPG out of the Corvette, or want to sell in other countries that have displacement taxes, they could easily replace the base 6.2 V8 with a 2.7T they have in house, add the same electric motor and end up with  around 500 hp/500 lb-ft.  Then you get AWD hybrids on every model, add it to the Z06 even.

And again see above statement, by an actual Corvette engineer, as to why you really need to stop beating this dead four banger horse where the Vette is concerned. Not even as an option.

I only read the main details but I like this.  AWD hybrid is always a plus.  And I wonder if they wouldn’t be well served to make all Corvettes hybrid in the coming years maybe post 2025 and you could do a turbo 4 in back with this electric motor up front and that would still make the power of the current V8 but get them much more mpg and help on the CAFE and emissions side.

You were doing fine until you mentioned "turbo 4". Full stop on that silliness. I want you to pay special attention to the following statement made by an actual Corvette engineer.

"Why isn't there an electric motor somewhere in the rear of the car? There simply isn't enough room between the engine and transmission, and the team wasn't about to go down to a V-6, says chief engineer Josh Holder."

Interesting news as Consumer Reports puts out their updated listing of Auto's.

Only 1 Luxury SUV Ranks Among Consumer Reports' 10 Least Reliable Cars of 2022 (motorbiscuit.com)

the least reliable car on the list was a luxury SUV, and that model was the 2022 Mercedes-Benz GLE. This luxury German SUV was redesigned recently, and unfortunately for Mercedes-Benz and its customers, that’s when the reliability issues came up. Before the redesign, the GLE was a fairly reliable car. Afterward, though, its reliability scores sank to the bottom.

Only 1 American Car Brand Is on Consumer Reports Reliable Top 10 List (motorbiscuit.com)

10 Most reliable car brands for 2023 according to Consumer reports:

    1. Toyota
    2. Lexus
    3. BMW
    4. Mazda
    5. Honda
    6. Audi
    7. Subaru
    8. Acura
    9. Kia
    10. Lincoln

American Brands Top Their German Rivals in Large SUVs for 2023 (motorbiscuit.com)

    9 Best Luxury Large SUVs for 2022 and 2023 | U.S. News (usnews.com)

    1. 2023 Lincoln Navigator
    2. 2023 Cadillac Escalade
    3. 2023 Land Rover Range Rover
    4. 2023 BMW X7
    5. 2022 Mercedes-Benz GLS-Class
    6. 2023 Jeep Grand Wagoneer
    7. 2022 Mercedes-Benz G-Class
    8. 2023 Lexus LX
    9. 2023 Infiniti QX80

Thanks to that strong balance of features and specs, U.S. News ranked the Cadillac Escalade and Lincoln Navigator above German luxury SUVs such as the BMW X7 and the Mercedes-Benz GLS. Both the X7 and the GLS have an overall score of 8.3 out of 10, which shows that they’re not bad large luxury SUVs by any means. It’s just that they have slightly more issues than the Lincoln or the Caddy does.

Interestingly enough, both the BMW and the Mercedes share a common problem, and it has to do with their infotainment systems. The X7 starts with a 14.9-inch touchscreen, while the GLS starts with a 12.3-inch touchscreen. The problems with these systems have to do with usability. The X7’s infotainment system has a learning curve, while the GLS’ infotainment system is reportedly “overwhelming.”

I take Consumer Reports with a huge grain of salt. Any publication that has Audi AND BMW on a "most reliable" list deserves a little scrutiny.

Sorry to hear about that.   But also, glad to hear that you will be getting medical attention to help with your ailment.  Health is #1.

Thanks. It's only been in the last five years that I have decided to move my health into my top 10 lol when it should have happened the first time I tore my right knee (at 19) playing football (not organized Football) and not getting it looked at. The lessons learned are many.

  6. Sometimes you get the MRI. Other times the MRI gets you.

Probably going to have way too much down time this year due to not one, but two different hip surgeries (left and right) in the cards this year. Ugh but if it takes away the pain, it'll be worth it. Just throws a monkey wrench into some of my creative endeavor plans this year.

But the facepalm thing is quite dumb.  THAT is me calling you out.

Whatever man. What you find "dumb", I found appropriate for the moment. That's why they're called "emoji's" or "reactions", neither of which require any kind of wording on my part, if I so choose. Sorry that bothers you so much that you have wasted half a page "not calling" me out but it's your issue and yours alone. All this has done is proven why I didn't engage earlier.

Did you pick up on the sarcasm of the "nothing personal" thing when someone says that while passively agreesively insinuating a negtive?

Did you pick up on my statement to not engage with you on your first post, even after he has now stated said thing twice? Seriously. Move on.

    Im not calling you out.

Im asking a question to @David because he raised a concern that I dont understand.

I also raised a concern that you evidently dont understand or agree with my rant.

I asked David to set me straight. You arent asking me to set anything straight, however I am asking you what it is you dont agree with.

Is it the comment that the concept truck is vaporware?  I found out why that may be.

Is it the comment/rant about cow hide and plant based alternative materials?

Is it the caveman thing that caveman ate animals and turned their hides into clothing?

Is it the last thing I said to which I stated Im not a right wing nutter or left wing whack and that nonsense snowflake shyte has got to stop because sooner or later, we will come to the conclusion that breathing air and drinking water will cause concern for the planet and will look to alternative ways of breathing and drinking?

My guess is the last part...  Its sarcastic in nature MEANT to cause controversy.  But yeah.

(Tags poster while claiming he wasn't "calling him out" and after being told that said person did not wish to engage and that it was nothing personal, continues to engage)

Your insistence here is why it's not worth engaging with you on the matter. Again, nothing personal.

Nothing personal. Just didn't agree with every facet of your post so there really wasn't a need to try and call me out. That is all.

It's the best car in the world, in 2023 becomes the first car in the US to have level 3 autonomy as it just got regulatory approval.  The S-class is the gold standard, it is the car all other luxury cars are compared to, it is what other brands try to copy.

No and nope. No bar moving allowed here. You said ALL MEDIA feel this way without providing even one source of this. Meanwhile, I provided not one, but two sources that DO NOT have the S-Class as the best. I don't care about your personal opinion on it. No one here is surprised by your assertion that it is the best. However, that's not what you said above so stop moving the damn bar and just accept that not all believe as you do, including much more qualified automotive media folks.

That is not proof unless you want to start providing that long list of media that believes this. Remember to cover the last 40-50 years. Don’t worry though. I’ll help you. Let’s start here, shall we? Mercedes is not the best luxury car on this particular list so I guess it’s not “all automotive media”. Maybe next time, lay off the fan laden superlatives that are easily debunked.

And here’s one from another automotive media source. I can’t really make that out though. Who is rated above the S-Class here?

Hahaha I could tell you accidently overlooked two letters in their garbage alphanumeric naming scheme..

Speaking of which, the fact that they're naming the SUV and sedan both EQS is awful. They're literally "EQS### Sedan" and "EQS### SUV". WTF Mercedes?!?

Exactly. Easy to confuse the two when the Best or Nothing chose “nothing” as far as efforts to give these truly distinguishable names from their ICE counterparts. Strange how that is never brought up by the same folks who deride Cadillac for their naming schemes.

I drove the EQS AMG (and took video) and it is a technological tour-de-force.... but as a car, it's kinda lame.

My goal is to get both the written and video review out this month.

That's what I am gathering form reviews. No doubt, they went in with tech in mind and it shows and that's what is expected from a company like Mercedes. Where they did not go in, apparently, was on the visual aspect and no about of fanboy growing over it changes that fact. All this attention to the interior (too much with that hyperscreen if you ask me but to each their own) but completely dropping the ball on the exterior is simply baffling at this price range.

No frunk who cares, that is really a feature nice for a pickup truck, but the EQS and every other sedan and SUV has plenty of cargo space in back.

Umm, I'm guessing you didn't read the part about the EQS stating the smallness of the interior in an S-Class sized package. Seems to me, in this case, a frunk would be a plus, which I positive you would be touting here had they actually included one.

So that car is slippery too and doesn't look like a worn bar of soap.

Way to show that fanboy card here. That is a whole other level of denial to act like its shape is anything other than a boring looking piece of worn bar soap. Just about every publication out there has stated or alluded to the same issue with the exterior of the German bar of worn soap. And don;'t give us this nonsense about drag coefficient. Hyundai gets great range out of their EVs and none of them resemble the bastard love child of a worn out bar of soap and a disinterested jellybean.

Dual purpose, builds the brand image, then tickles down the tech.  GM doesn't have this.

Are you high? No trickle down tech at all? Not a single thing? Guess all those GM racing programs are just for $h!s and giggles?

I'm guessing it never occurred to you that there is more than one way to pass down this tech. You don't have to waste money on a niche super volume car that only 50 people can afford when you have a proven formula behind other programs that lend this trickle down tech.

And let's not forget, since you brought up the 959, that a fair number of the hypercars and such are not even legal in this country. Why would GM aspire to that exactly? From the 959 to the AMG Project One, these provide some sizzle and bragging rights for said companies but what good is it if you can't even sell them in a large portion of the industrialized world? Why would GM EVER want to gamble with that when their racing programs already fill the "trickle down tech" void?

Again, the only one who seems to care is you. No matter how many times the actual point(s) has been made on one thread, you still wash, rinse, and repeat that same non-sense on yet another thread.
