Industry News: Trump Raises Tariffs on All Mexican Goods
surreal1272 replied to Drew Dowdell's topic in Industry News
@ocnblu—While you want Mexico to have these jobs so they stop coming here, please explain why Trump wants the opposite. Today, in support of his tariffs, one of his reasons for this was to get auto manufacturers to come back to the US. Now how can one support jobs for Mexico and support a policy that takes away those jobs? -

All problems this country helped create, from the remnants of the Monroe Doctrine to the useless war on drugs. How some folks don’t see that is simply beyond me. -
Deflection and missing the point at the same time. Congrats. I am talking about sedans, not dime a dozen CUVs.

I guess the truth really bothers some here if all they do is down vote you when you present facts while citing legitimate sources. Proof that gaslighting is real. Here is a list of successful deals negotiated by the Trump Administration: 1. -

LMAO! Love that link. Got to love the “America first” crowd that shows their support for it by buying a “Made in Mexico” car (that I’m sure they would have NOT paid a 25% tax on) and then whining about that same country because those people want to have a better life. Talk about “mixed messages”. -

GTFO. I could not stand Obama but I also know that these same folks would not work with him regarding anything. Where was your concern then? Oh that’s right. It only matters now that a republican is in office. Trump couldnt get $h! done with a GOP majority for the first two years and has literally lied about everything. This not an “obsession” as you call it. This is the truth. So you would have paid a 25% higher tax on that Compass just to prove your support for the president? Yeah, somehow I doubt that because then you would have to acknowledge the obvious flaw in the tariff game. And please give a proper answer to the facts I gave earlier regarding this country’s role in making these $h!hole countries instead of down voting because it hurts that’s fragile little Trump supporting ego. Don’t worry though blu. After these tariffs are implemented and our farmers start getting pinched even more, we can just have Trump throw another $15 Billion at them while deriding those “socialist democrats”. Making everyone but America great again. -

Guess it’s a good thing you bought your Mexican made Jeep before those tariffs kick in. Irony is definitely not without a sense of humor here. -

I can put the blame where it belongs. Let’s start with all of our engagements and meddling in Central America since the 1930s that resulted in endless civil wars and despot leaders. Now, add in our failed “war on drugs” policies that started during the Nixon years and was amplified during the Reagan years, and you have the perfect recipe for the current disaster in that region. Maybe you should crack open a history book on it before spouting off pro-Trump propaganda. https://medium.com/s/story/timeline-us-intervention-central-america-a9bea9ebc148 See above response. Whats hilariously sad is that I never see folks labeling the Irish the same way as brown folks even though they also fled a $h!hole country situation for decades and we have tens of thousands of them here illegally in one fashion or another. Where’s our east coast wall that needs to be paid for by Ireland (that last part is clearly meant to be a joke btw)? https://www.google.com/amp/s/psmag.com/.amp/social-justice/how-the-immigration-crackdown-is-hitting-the-irish-community -
No because the CT4 is RWD while the A Class is FWD, making it more of a mainstream brand competitor. Under the definition of the word “redundancy”, it says “see redundant”. A Class hatch=GLA but even less useful Oh and the A Class is just proof that the CLA is useless.
-
Not in the US they haven’t and they are on the same platform as the CLA so it is just as guilty of being a refresh here as you are trying to paint the CT4. In fact, it’s even worse because the A Class being sold here is really no different from the CLA on top of just being FWD (yes I know there is an AWD option but that is still a Buick like FWD platform). The CT4 is not even close to a refresh and honestly it’s just pure trolling on your part to even state that kind of nonsense. The only thing it has in common with the ATS is the platform, making it much more than a refresh. Maybe they should sell the CT4 next to the ATS like Mercedes does with the CLA and the A Class. Take a page from the “best or nothing” FWD compact luxury car.
-
Much like how the A Class is just a refreshed CLA? The CT4 literally has not one thing in common with the ATS outside of the Cadillac badge itself. He sure did because he didn’t see why it was worth it when everyone wanted CUVs.
-
That will make at least a little more sense as long as that means more HP and not just suspension and handling tweaks to make it a “track car”. I guess we will see eventually.
-
It’s like you didn’t read the article at all. The diluting of the brand and the mention of more power are in the article And I quote: “Badging them as V dilutes hardcore image that the past few models have brought forth.” ”But there are hardcore versions coming in the pipeline according to the rep.” Which means, aside from changing what the V series means (which I don’t agree with for the record), there will be more powerful versions. Not sure how you can actually read the article and then make the statement that you just did other than just to troll Cadillac. And if you’re going to reference something from five years ago, cite said reference because I’m curious as to which Benz you are talking about. The 355HP 2015 CLA AMG is not smaller. In fact, it has already been mentioned that the CT4 is a direct competitor for the CLA (and I’m assuming the A Class) and the Audi A3. Please cite this five year reference of yours.

It hasn’t been ratified and it won’t even come to a vote until the fall at the earliest. It’s also not even likely to get passed at this rate. -

Honestly it’s just too easy to point the endless stupidity involved with these tariffs especially with a neighboring country with which we have a pending NAFTA 2.0 deal that eliminates said tariffs. Just beyond a stupid move from the king of stupid moves. -
You have missed the point entirely. Fact. Mercedes nickel and dimes just like the rest of them. And while the V series is being mislabeled here, it has already been stated that higher up models are coming with a different designation. Also, outside of the monotone color, the interior design of both Cadillacs looks more modern than their Mercedes counterpart. I’m sure you will disagree because you won’t see Benz any other way but that’s just what I think. Oh and how many attempts has Mercedes had at making Maybach relevant in this country? I’ve lost count to be honest. Oooh, a FWD based 406HP car (yes I know that model is AWD but those are FWD bones in there)! That should go over well. Yeah, that’s a hard pass.
-
Did I say anything about horsepower? Nope. Sure didn’t. There are plenty of other ways that Benz has nickel and dimes their cars just like everyone else has. Having said that, I think gave a great example of horsepower or lack thereof and I will add that a $41K starting price for a 255HP C Class is a bit of a ripoff. And before you try to throw in the Cadillac example know this. Only Benz is advertising their cars as the “best or nothing” while charging $41K for a 255HP car.
-
Cadillac is not the only company nickel and diming their cars but I’m betting you wouldn’t recognize that fact because it involves Mercedes. Almost all makes do it these days.
-
I agree. What has happened at Cadillac? The rear ends on their current sedans look worlds better.
-
The interior actually looks pretty good but I agree about the overuse of monotone. Show a little contrast and it would really set itself apart.
-
The third sentence in your post is exactly my point. It just seems unnecessarily confusing.
-
This makes no sense at all. A whole 20 more HP on the CT5 makes it a V? I agree with William on this. The setup on both sound more like V-Sport trims as opposed to actual V series models. Seriously, what is GM smoking right now? Even the auto log explanation doesn’t make sense when they already have V-Sport trims they could just as easily implement for that plan and save the V for the hardcore performance models. I just don’t get it.

GM is drunk and maybe that’s why they won’t go back to names for Cadillac. They can’t even get the Chevy names right. They would end up renaming the XT4 into the El Dorado or Fleetwood DeVille. It makes no sense.- 42 replies

Chevrolet News:Chevrolet Debuts 2021 Trailblazer
surreal1272 replied to Drew Dowdell's topic in Chevrolet
As a former three year owner of a Tracker in the 90s, I can tell you that there was nothing “adventurous” about it unless you count fighting crosswinds on the interstate as an “adventure”. The name would have be better suited for this CUV than the name “Trailblazer” by a country mile.- 42 replies
