Chevrolet News:2017 Chevrolet Bolt EV To Start At $37,495
Suaviloquent replied to William Maley's topic in Chevrolet
You don't just buy an EV and call it a day. I've said it before, I'm NO FAN of electric cars, because they are not at their best. While gas cars, yes they transform every generation, but the powertrain stuff when it comes to ICE, is nearing the end of the road. Diesel, HCCI, and then like the California mandate for 2050, no more gas powertrains....yup. Electric cars , I think building them up requires a complete rethink of everything, atleast into now what is current old world, the West (or really North America). In China and other modern places, EV buses, and fast rail (like Europe) are the deal. I like the Bolt. I think 238 range is nice. I think if they went with like 175 miles, but had a price before incentives of like $32,500... that would be better. The Bolt is just the first of many. And while it's nice, the way how the car behaves because of the transformative electric drivetrain, it's nothing special. The Tesla is special. But Tesla has their own problems, having to quickly adapt to mass production, meet the quality demanded when their cars will eventually become of the incumbents if they become established. Also, to counter point the cost of installing a fast charger, it costs money to connect natural gas for furnaces, stoves and etc...and that's IF that is a retro-fit for a person switching to electric. The smart thing to do is to install solar panels and become net energy neutral or even positive. I wouldn't consider a world without ICE cars out of the realm of possibility, but that's a long stretch, and I think a better way to build society would be one where people really wouldn't need cars unless they really NEED them. -

The main point has everything to do with range, and how this is very sufficient for the vast majority of people. I'm pretty sure the sweet spot for someone looking to own a car is probably still a hybrid, but the Bolt is still even more practical to a midsize hybrid sedan. Mirai has like a 300-ish mile range -

Tesla Takes the State of Michigan To Court Over Direct Sales Ban
Suaviloquent replied to William Maley's topic in Tesla
That's convenient, but these automakers forget their own history. Before GM, Ford or Chrysler were big names with national dealers and all that, how DID they sell their wares out of their fledgling garages?- 11 replies

Chevrolet News:2017 Chevrolet Bolt EV To Start At $37,495
Suaviloquent replied to William Maley's topic in Chevrolet
Are you daft? No has said you need to hypermile. The Bolt EV can be driven like a normal car, taking advantage of its 7 second 0-60 time, and you get more than the claimed 238 miles of range. You're avoiding the main point. You save a ton of money on fuel costs. If paying for fuel is a convenience you must have for that very infrequent long trip, you don't have to go out of the way to rent a ride for long trips. -

Fuel savings on an annual basis could make up for any long-trip range anxiety because you could rent a conventional car with a gas tank for any long-trip. But that's just a recent thing too. In 5 years or less, the issue of charging should be made moot, because then it's a real what-if kind of scenario with someone driving 600 miles continuously. I get it, some people do it often, but I wouldn't thrash my personal vehicle to do THAT. Plus, recent drive tests of the Bolt have verified that it gets the range they claim, and that's driving as a normal person. -

Dude, EVs make a ton of sense once they reach 250+ miles of range. -
Chevrolet News:Chevrolet Surprises Everyone With 2018 Equinox
Suaviloquent replied to William Maley's topic in Chevrolet
I don't know about the exterior styling from those photos... but everything else on paper sounds very good. The diesel is a interesting choice. I guess you don't need the hybrid when it's got that, and I think for crossovers and utilities, diesel might make a better option. i dunno, but it is a fresh entry from Chevy after a long in the tooth run of the last gen. Now they've got potentially 4 crossovers soon on this same platform, Envision, XT3, Equinox and Terrain. Is the Terrain supposed to become more off-road focused?- 45 replies

Well, the Prius to me doesn't look ugly anymore. It's just another weird looking car, and almost every automaker has some kind of weird SOB. And there are different kinds of weird. Like Japanese comics. Anyways, I digress no further. DFELT you're pretty tall, but otherwise the Prius is roomy as hell for the size of the car. And because it's a liftback you have much better cargo practicality, and unlike the Volt, atleast you have the tiny smaller window, which while being awkward...is still better than the insanely high deck of the Volt visibility-wise. Not having to bring the car to the dealer is no perk really. It's just a common sense thing that makes sense for everybody. No one is seriously considering that as a perk, because sooner rather than later, it has to become the norm, the bare minimum expected. -

What's the name of the Moto's? 6P in Canada is still $699 outright. Fat chance on getting that, when the OP3 is $519. Secretly, I know that's the only device that is amazing enough for me to stomach the price, because the value is over-keeeeeer, but c'mon this is a debate. A discussion. A great deal more needs to be learneded. yes, learned-did. -
So I was using a piece of junk phone - Samsung Nexus S model i9020 and now it is bricked. I have no idea why. Turning it on is fruitless, the screen does not turn on, and the phone gets hot - perhaps replacing the battery might be worth checking out just for the **** of it, and the saving me a whole lot of time and dough. Also tried the good ol' forced boot with power button and volume up. No go. So in the meantime, I am using in lieu of that an even more piece of junk phone - a flip job - (hehe he said "flip job") a Samsung C-414W. So some handy dandy notes to frame your suggestions to me - I don't really have a penchant need for using data all the time and syncing all my social media on one device all the time everyday. I use wi-fi tactics, no data plan for me, because el cheapo. - I don't play Call of Pokemans, Infinite Battlefields Ghost Warfare. - I just need something rather durable, affordable (who buys a phone every other year anyways), preferably with something known for excellent call reception and quality - so if it has another noise cancelling mic, very nice. - No need for phablet, but if it EcoBoost's the value of my wallet by acquiring a better, larger device for more value than a smaller, shittier device, I'm all for it. - I prefer to buy phone unlocked, outright, out of contract. So, I haven't bought a phone in a long time. Long TIME. The Nexus was kind of a gift, but it was used at the time. Previously before I had splurged on a Crackberry, and it died out of warranty, and so did my Patriotism to yet another failed Canadian Tech company.

MAJOR SOFTWARE UPDATE COMING THIS WEEK!
Suaviloquent replied to Drew Dowdell's topic in Site News and Feedback
remember - manic inducing, severe insomnia. Like I feel like being stupid because it's fun. And I like saying things like "super number public enemy general moron" in a nice secluded place where the hombres and senhoras kinda know me enough that I might as well be Mr. Poolog's GTA IV style cousin. And the Mr. Intrepidation will Adam the Jensen out of me, and then I'll just say press F to pay respects. The Art of the Deal right there, man that's some deep shit man. -

Sometimes less is more. And like Cadillac - less weight. Like Lincoln. No RWD.... Hurr hurr, joke meant not to give offense (I kno that Lincoln has Navi + D6 RWD coming soon, and the Conti being RWD would give it really nothing other than some tired dash to axle conformity that even Volvo tries to fake or Audi achieves but then will switch to an AWD system that defaults to FWD like the GKN system) Please laugh, yeah, super number public enemy general moron yaaaa?! -

Yes, I think that would help. Gets rid of congestion on one webpage. Maybe everyone else here uses a desktop or large tablet, but I use mostly a 13" (yes very large yes, I am very satisfied with the size very yes, super number 1 sexy yeah) long thing. -
I read somewhere that VW cut a lot of costs by moving production of models to Slovakia and other Eastern European countries and also by moving production of certain Golfs and Audis to Mexico. They couldn't stomach another $350 out of what I read they cut $7000 of costs of production associated with the then new 2012 Passat. They were being greedy, and while there's plenty of time to discuss the fairness of laws, VW was considered the gold standard and untouchable when it came to diesels. And now they're in a mess. And diesels can be very clean, even with the emissions control equipment enabled to full use, diesels still get great FE. And right now there's a negative spread between diesel and regular, and that's not a coincidence.

Just totally completely random - I had another refreshing bout of my permanent, insane & manic inducing insomnia last night. Also, another random random random random - I know exactly what I need, but am completely clueless as how to acquire it. And no I'm not talking about medication or drugs. And the more I try to work on it, the more confuzzled I get. This will help, but it doesn't exist in this universe. Why you holding out on me universe?! I exist because you allow it, and I will demand more existence because I want it!!

It has a pretty nice AWD option, but it's kind of a oversight to even offer FWD with the 3.0T. In Canada however, the car only comes with AWD on 3.0T model. I didn't think the proportions were weird, well, most cars are FWD now. Even cars that started out as RWD, hell even the lowly Corolla used to be RWD.... I think the real sticker right now for Lincoln is that their resale values are the absolute worst in the luxury segments they compete in right now, and that in of itself means that the cars aren't desirable to folks as much as they would like. I like the Continental, but everything else still leaves a lot of be desired in terms of overall execution outside of BL.

Nothing specific really. Just boot up the old computron, type in the address in URL and boom, this website is just so much now. Everything looks pretty and all....but uh, yeah. I find there's just so many buttons, clicky things, and I usually do the same thing all the time - head straight to the forum where I then read about the staff reviews, new car tech, new car news and all the good stuffs. Just a general feeling. I mean, if you have screenshots of the old site, and new one, maybe maybe maybe. Maybe maybe maybe....maybe maybe. Yup.
