@dfelt You don't have animals eating your garden? We have bunch of rabbits and deer goes around occasionally too that will decimate any garden without protective netting.

Those are official numbers. I don't believe one bit the numbers that coming from China. Also, Russia basically completely not reporting their cases, they only reported about 1k cases and I hear things are substantially worse there. Nevertheless, things are getting worse and we are not even near the peak. My wife's girlfriend is a doctor in NYC and things are really bad there and getting worse every day. Stay safe everyone.

Really sorry to hear that

I watched a little Barcelona Grand Prix 24 hour race on iRacing, it was kind of cool. Actually, I decided to give iRacing a try, got subscription for one month (under $7 only). I have a wheel setup and played a little on PS4 Project Cars but it is hard to get access to Playstation when my son wants to play his games, especially now. Checked my computer and it is good enough for the game so downloaded it. Trying to figure the game out, so far only played few test practices yesterday.

In a 25 mile radius from my zip code there are 370 brand new Corollas with only about twenty priced above $25k with maximum around $28k. The majority of Corollas are sold closer to $20k. BTW within same range there are Traxes sold at over $30k. There are 301 brand new Traxes and I see almost 90 of them priced over $25k. That's IMO is ridiculous,

I would go with more traditional approach, an older Land Cruiser set up for overlanding It was good enough fro Sarah Connor in the latest Terminator movie. I wouldn't mind the arsenal of weapons she was carrying in it either

So since most people are sitting home, everything is cancelled and it looks like the beginning of apocalypse (just kidding) lets play a small game. Post you idea of the end of the world vehicle, what you will use, what will you add to it. Is it Mad Max type truck or a muscle car like in "I am legend".

Yea, one has leather from a skin of unicorns, wood from the top of Everest and was build by virgins and the other one will have doorknobs from Silverado and switches from Cruise.

While it is going to be a problem for many people I think closing schools and public places is a good thing. It is the best way to prevent spreading of the virus. Sometimes the right decision is the tough one. Actually, I think they should have started closings earlier.

My town closed schools for two weeks, neighborhood town schools are closed as well I believe. I think NYC and Boston close most schools if I am not mistaken.

@dfelt All my friends who work in IT worked from home at least few times a week or more even before the virus. Companies that could were moving toward remote workplace in any case. Plenty of people though who can't do that. Neither I, nor my wife work at jobs that can be done from home. As a matter of fact at my wife's work she was told that if they have to go into quarantine all non essential personal (and she is not) will have to stay home without pay (can use vacation time if you have).

Nothing will change. As soon as this will blow through, everyone will go back to the usual routine.

I went yesterday to Costco to do some shopping. Usually Wednesday is very quiet day to do that. Yesterday I had hard time finding parking space, the store was full. There were NO toilet paper, No paper towels, NO packaged chicken, NO ground beef. I see people buying 4-5 cases of water. Simply crazy, people are going completely nuts and it is only the beginning.

People stopped buying wagons and sedans and switched to crossovers, but reality is 99% of crossovers are pretty much slightly lifted wagons and hatchbacks with awd. I doubt that right now people will sacrifice utility of Escape to buy a mini pickup truck.

I agree, A little truck is pretty much a wagon without the roof, but wagon 100 times m ore useful. But people want to be "cool" I would rather have this Over this

Alternative Fuels & Propulsion RANDOM
ykX replied to G. David Felt's topic in Electric Vehicles and Alternative Fuels
Yes it does. I posted it myself that RIGHT NOW from a purely financial perspective, EVs are still more expensive than comparable ICE vehicles (even taking into account less maintenance). However, at the rate things are changing EV prices will be on par soon enough. Personally, I am not yet ready to consider EV. However, when in 5-7 years I will need a new daily driver, I think EV is definitely will be on top of my list. -

If you are talking about environment and global warming, that might be true. However, looking purely from a practical perspective, it is proven that even taking into account electricity cost and source, EVs are still significantly more economical than ICEs. It also a fact that they require substantially less maintenance, and are easier to upgrade. -

While in general I do agree with you, however if it wouldn't be for the government regulations we wouldn't have cars today with seat belts, air bags and emission control. I think maybe government instead of giving incentives for individual EV purchases, should invest that money into making EV friendly infrastructure, same as they invest into other infrastructure projects. I think it will contribute much more to the increased use of EVs than individual discounts. EVs will be the future eventually for a simple reason (even disregarding environmental impact) that they are much more efficient, they require substantially less maintenance, and they more future proof than ICE cars, as Tesla has shown. We are still in the beginning of the transfer process but it is inevitable. -
I watch some of his video too, he is pretty good. Also, most of the cars he puts on the lift and goes through suspension and maintenance ease with his mechanic.
